classmates and teachers at her high school. >> we met with the staff this morning to give them an update and prepare for the day and there was a lot of sadness in the school. reporter: police are waiting for toxicology results before they issue a definite cause of death. if this was overdose, it would be the seventh in rochester so far this year. phil? phil: ed, lawyers for a tomorrower prep school student are trying to get the most serious conviction thrown out. he was convicted of five charges and related to the sexual assault of a teenage girl. lawyers say a felony computer related charge carries too harsh a penalty and requiring him to register as a sex offender. they argue it is inconsistent with lawmaker intent that someone con vehicled it of a misdemeanor sex assault should not have to register. phil: she was identified as an 80-year-old woman and

they were killed in the fire on sunday morning at their home on montcom street. fire. three others did escape safely. investigation. heather:massachusetts education leaders met today to discuss results of a new test that could replace the mcats. the board of elementary and secondary education will discuss student assessment of the parcc test. it was given to schools last spring and scores from the new test will be released tomorrow. education leaders will vote next month whether or not to adopt the parcc test. new federal data shows the percentage of local community college students in default on student loans has dropped significantly for the first time in three years. experts think that's because the economy has improved and because students are better informed about debt. phil:let's take you out and

didn't get out of the 40s. we are in the 30s. some pome saw flurries. is this an ease into the winter or is it a slap in the face? harvey: it is a slap in the face, but it will get eased as we flip the other way. when it is cold this early it is not going to lock in. it is way too early for that. this is the coldest since april 2nd in boston at 31. we had places in the teens and many, many places in the 20s. of course you know cold nights and that is part of the story that advances the fall foliag expe that is what is happening around our area now. pretty, pretty scenes to be seen. the temperature in the 40s and most areas never really got out of the 40s. it has made it to the low 50s in hart for -- hartford and poughkeepsie. in almost any direction away from boston it is milder. i mean if you go to the west, if you go to the south. yes if you go to the north and the east it is a little colder, but that's the cold

and that will be retreating. someplaces. it is 68 in detroit. it is 72 in chicago. it is 75 in minneapolis. we are not going to get that warm, but we are going to moderate significantly. you can see this wedge of warmth. the way the weather pattern is going to emerge from us, i don't see any big storms over the next seven days. we will oscillate between getting into the warmer air briefly and then cooler air comes down out of canada. then more warm air and cooler air out of canada. we will be a little up and down in the temperature department. boston is looking nice as we get closer to sunset with the days shortening. very dry air. west and southwest breeze at 14 miles per hour. now these are the low temperatures to expect tonight. certainly chilly. but when you compare the way it was early this morning, it will be a lot easier for you to take early tomorrow morning.

start to rise toward dawn as the winds freshen out of the southwest. that brings the midwest milder air into us. and then we reach the 60s tomorrow. that's quite a turn around in a pretty short period of time. we are still mainly clear, but if you look off to the north and west, we are starting to see a little cloudiness. that's the leading edge of the milder air. it is first coming at the higher levels of the atmosphere and then reach down to the surface for tomorrow. we will have clouds late tonight and into tomorrow. young -- i think there will be partial sun at times midday tomorrow afternoon. it repeats the process on wednesday with clouds at times. and even on thursday when a front approaches there may be a spot shower once or twice in the next 72 hours. for the most part we are talking about ep -- episodes of clouds. big temperature jump into the 60s. it will be breezy out of the southwest. we get to wednesday and it will be a little cooler. i keep mentioning the

topsy-turvy, and then we will wind up on the milder side and the cooler side and then back and forth we shall go over the next number of days. as we look to the latter portion of the week, another front is going to come through probably around thursday night, and that will turn us chillier on friday. it is not as cold as it was today, but significantly chillier than it will be for tomorrow, wednesday and thursday. the weekend looks like a chillier start and a lot of sunshine on saturday. some increasing cloudiness on sunday and perhaps wet weather coming in late sunday or monday. we'll see how that all plays out. phil? phil: out of a coma and making progress. tomorrower nba and reality tv star lamar odom is recovering. odom was discovered unconscious at a nevada brothel last week. it was six days ago lamar odom was found unconscious. >> i keep trying to get him to wake up. reporter: rushed to a las vegas hospital in a coma and
