4:42 am
emily: remnants of hurricane rains along the gulf coast. this is video from louisiana as flash flood watches continued overnight in the region. more than 20 inches of rain were recorded in one part of texas since thursday. overall the destruction was not as significant there, and in mexico, as expected. still a really powerful storm. danielle: it's still dumping a lot of rain even at this hour. you can see behind me over parts of louisiana. that's moving up closer to us. actually a tornado watch is down there right now. so still a serious situation. for us we'll bring the rain into our forecast starting wednesday, really weds we afternoon, i think, even the evening. that's where the real heavy rain is going to come through. it will linger, i think, through thursday but it's really early thursday and then things start to wind down but notice we are dry both today and tomorrow.
4:43 am
so here are those remnants of patricia. we're watching them carefully. high pressure for us today really dominating our weather. in terms of how much rain we're talking about. when all is said and done wednesday into thursday we're seeing anywhere from an inch to about two inches of rain. with that also comes some very strong winds. we'll talk more about that in just a second. but we really do need that rain down near eight inches for the year in boston. down over two-and-a-half inches for the month of october. so we're looking for it. not necessarily today. but today the big impact is the temperature drop-off from yesterday. in fact yesterday's high in boston was 63. in worcester 56. but today we're going to barely make it into the 50's in boston and probably stay in the 40's in worcester. this is why already i want to there. in the 30's. it's 30 in deen, 32 springfield. 39 right now in worcester. mid 40's though in boston. and we're going to continue to this morning. sunshine. the reason we're staying cooler
4:44 am
is because those winds are coming out of the north and west today. it's keeping us in the low 50's in boston. upper 40's in worcester. and lower 50's along the south shore as well as through the merrimack valley. once we head towards tonight, temperatures drop off again. because we have the clear skies and calming winds, temperatures are going to drop into the 20's i think in the merrimack valley. then tomorrow we'll start to rebound with a little more sunshine into the mid 50's in worcester as well as boston. maybe a few upper 50's along the south shore, the cape and the islands. here is what happens on the future cast. these remnants gelt closer by tuesday night but we're still dry. wednesday morning i think we start out with some clouds, but i think the morning commute will be dry. once we get towards lunchtime all bets are really off. as we get toward evening and that ride home from work, it will be wet with heavy downpours and there's also going to be a lot of wind with this one. so heavy rain very high wednesday into thursday. gusty winds look high as well. coastal flooding right now looks
4:45 am
on the lower side and thunder also looking on the lower side but we could still have it because temperatures are also going to be so mild as we get towards wednesday and thursday. now thursday i know you're looking at this thinking, we do have another pats game. dolphins on. it doesn't look so bad with temperatures in the upper 50's and the rain should be ending by then. then we're cooler next weekend as we look ahead towards halloween. now let's turn our attention to the roads. good morning, jeff. jeff: good morning, danielle. good morning, everyone. we started off with a crash. it's already cleared. it started around columbia road and moved on to columbia road itself. just a moment ago it cleared off that roadway itself. the expressway is moving nicely between braintree to boston. that drive time is 10 minutes or so at this point. it will be busy. we do expect a fairly heavy commute. keep that in mind if you're traveling out there. the ride in metro west only 15
