operated by a long-established company. locals are stunned, saying the waters can get very rough, but they were not rough sunday. witnesses saying the wind wasn't strong and the sun was out. canada's transportation safety board is investigating. randy: right now investigators are narrowing in on what might have sparked an explosion that knocked a taunton home off its foundation. the fire marshal telling newscenter 5 this is a gas-related incident. the homeowner inside was able to escape. columbia gas crews are now inspecting that gas line. the explosion happened yesterday afternoon at this home on christine lane. firefighters say within 30 minutes it collapsed. the boom so powerful that homes nearby shook rattling the nerves of neighbors. >> i heard a bang and felt my whole house shake. it was horrifying, horrifying. randy: the homeowner did tell a neighbor that she was worried about the gas and was checking a water heater.

5:07 am
again that delaying his decision meant he could not win. >> couldn't win. i'll be very blunt. if i thought we could put together the campaign that our supporters deserved and our contributors deserved, i would have gone ahead and done it. emily: biden went on to deny rumors that he and hillary clinton don't get along. randy: the patriots undefeated this morning after a hard-fought win against the jets. this touchdown catch by danny amendola one of the plays helping the pats keep that 6-0 record. the 30-23 win over the jets not easy. dropped passes a big problem for the pats yesterday at gillette. in all, the pats had 11 drops. speaking of 11, julian edelman on 3rd and 17 helping the pats get to 27. and here's gronk fighting for the tough yards. >> lot of challenges, took us a while, i thought we played better as the game went on.

5:13 am
we're watching the remnants of hurricane patricia as they get closer to our area. right now though, we're talking about dry conditions both monday and tuesday. but rain chances go up and are very high on wednesday as well as on thursday. there's a low risk of some rain left over from this system. so here is the remnants of patricia. there's tornado watches up for parts of south eastern united states and all this moisture lifting closer to us. and we really do welcome the rain. we really do need the rain but as of from wednesday to thursday afternoon, we could see anywhere from an inch to about two inches from this system. it's not just the rain. it's also the wind associated with this. now we do need the rain, as i said, because we are under a moderate drought you see in these areas in tan. down near eight inches for boston. down to about 7.5 inches for worcester for the year. so we're welcoming in the rain. the other thing that's going to happen with this system is temperatures are going to nose
5:14 am
so we're talking 60 by wednesday. 66 degrees on thursday. we should be running around 58 degrees this time of year so today and tomorrow running below average. definitely grab a coat if you're headed out right now. 36 worcester. 30 keene. mid 40's in boston and for today we're going to warm up into the lower 50's to a few upper 40's. as we head towards tonight with clear skies, temperatures really drop off back into the 20's and 30's. so it's a chilly start tomorrow. and then with more sunshine, temperatures should warm back up because those winds then turn to the south into the mid 50's which we will take because we really do need that sunshine. so the next seven days, we're dry both monday and tuesday. then we watch the rain coming in on wednesday from patricia. let me show you this, the timing, that is, for the remnants. notice by 2:00 we're start to go see those showers out there especially worcester county and points west. but everybody sees the rain by
5:15 am
there could be heavy downpours for the ride home as well as through the evening hours. we're looking for 1-2 inches of rain. gusty winds and there could even be some minor coastal flooding. behind this though, we're still warm on thursday for the pats game looking good. it should dry out by then. over the weekend we start to cool off just in time for halloween and daylight savings. jeff: maybe solar glare this morning. danielle: maybe. jeff: it will be a busy morning on the roads. it's monday which always means extra heavy volume. we're looking at the lower deck of 93 and the zakim bridge coming in toward the city. it's a fairly nice ride at this point. the leverett connector here in the foreground also moving. in very good shape. there will be a lot of traffic out there this morning. hopefully it will remain incident free. no incidents to talk about on the area maps this morning. let's look at drive times. still only 11 minutes from 128 down to boston on 93 southbound coming on down across the lower deck. metro west that turnpike is still in pretty good shape. only 15 minutes or so for that ride.
5:16 am
expressway is still pretty close to the speed limit. only 10 minutes. that's going to change very quickly again it will be a busy commute this morning. back to you. randy: jeff, thank you. an inside look at a high-stakes raid in iraq. american and kurdish forces storming an isis compound to save hostages. the new video shows captives streaming out of the darkness, hands up, feet bare, and clothes bloodied. troops cleared room after room thursday rescuing about 70 men who the pentagon says faced execution. about 20 isis fighters were killed. one american delta team member, master sergeant joshua wheeler, also died in the crossfire. >> this american did what i'm proud that americans do in that situation. he ran to the sound of the gun. randy: master sergeant wheeler is the first american killed in combat with isis. military leaders say the circumstances of the raid are unique and do not mean american forces are taking part in combat in iraq. the woman arrested after allegedly crashing into a parade

5:22 am
we're watching behind me the remnants of hurricane patricia. all of this is headed in our direction. the other big story today is that temperature drop-off. i want to talk about yesterday. it was in the 60's in boston. 50's in worcester. today struggling to make it into the low 50's in boston. and the upper 40's in worcester but thin temperatures are on the way up through midweek. as that system gets closer to us, it does bring in warmer air. it also brings in storm chances so heavy rain looks likely wednesday afternoon through early thursday. gusty winds are also going to be likely. we're looking for the potential for some minor coastal flooding and also thunderstorms. randy? randy: and we're taking over eyepopper duty for olessa this morning. emily: we're starting off with a toddler who knows what to do when he hears something scary. >> jett, come here.

5:30 am
that will quickly build up and get slower. the drive on the turnpike looks good as well. emily, back to you. emily: jeff, thank you. breaking overnight. at least five people are dead after a whale watch boat sank off the coast of vancouver. canadian authorities say one person is still missing. witnesses say the weather was clear and the water calm at the time of the tragedy. randy: also breaking overnight. saugus police are searching for a hit-and-run driver. it happened on route 1 just after 11:00 last night. witnesses say the man was hit by a mercedes, but the description of the car was vague. it's not clear how badly he was hurt. emily: right now investigators are closing in on what might have sparked this huge house explosion in taunton. the fire marshal tells us the incident on christine lane was gas-related. the homeowner was able to escape unhurt. randy: right now a woman is prepared to face a judge accused in the shooting death of this man, her uncle. family members still trying to figure out how it happened. emily: the eyeopener's sera congi is live outside the
