armed and dangerous following thursday night' s shooting on teleford street which killed desmond joseph of allston. randy: right now police are , investigating after a child is hit by a car after being let off the eyeopener' s antoinette antonio is in worcester where there are a lot of questions this morning. antoinette: the biggest question is why the bus driver was let -- would let a five-year-old off the bus without a parent to meet him. this happened monday afternoon. the bus driver dropped the boy off without an adult present to pick him up, which is against school policy. the driver had hit the boy says the five-year-old ran into the street from between two parked cars. the driver was going below the speed limit. the boy, a student at abby kelly

foster charter school, suffered a broken leg and minor head trauma and is expected to be ok. an investigation is underway to figure out why no one was here to meet him and why the driver led the boy off the bus. the driver who hit him was not cited. live in worcester, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. >> we know there are two new angels looking down on us. emily: a family grieving the loss of a young mother and her nine-month-old son killed in a crash in oxford. that' s as a second child remains in critical condition. this morning, relatives are talking about the tragedy as town leaders take new action. christina russin was killed monday when her car crashed head-on with a cement truck along route 20. her youngest son, noah, died after being placed on life support. her 2-year-old son, carter, is still in the hospital. the boy' s grandmother by his

>> we lost two beautiful people in my life. you are not supposed to bury your child. >> she cannot even grief over her daughter yet because she has needs her right now. emily: there will be a meeting tomorrow to discuss possible changes to route 20. randy: new this morning, boston city councilors may have to take a vote today on whether to raise their own salaries. a plan to hike their pay to just under $100,000 a year was proposed by mayor walsh and even without any action would take effect on election day. but councilor michael flaherty says he plans to put the 14% hike to a vote today. the city council hasn' t gotten a raise since 2006. emily: commitment 2016, two new polls show changes in the race for president. and for the first time since the summer donald trump does not , have the national lead. the cbs new york times poll shows ben carson now leading the race with 26%. trump a close second at 22%.

in the investigation. school administrators are calling the attack reprehensible, unforgivable and inconsistent with everything the district stands for. students who were in this algebra class in columbia are being interviewed as claims surface that the teenage girl hit the officer first. some of her classmates say she was texting, chewing gun and refusing to leave. that deputy who is a resource officer and football coach then takes her down. one student who tried to help ended up getting arrested herself. the deputy 34-year-old ben fields was honored last year for being an exceptional role model. however, in 2007 he was also accused of using excessive force. first exposed by 5 investigates, there are new calls this morning to look into the aging of tires. safety experts tell 5 investigates even though your tires may have plenty of tread,

emily: thank you. right now boston police are , looking for this man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in brighton. police say gammada musa is considered armed and dangerous. desmond joseph was shot and killed thursday night on teleford street. randy: right now, police are investigating after a child is hit by a car after getting off the school bus in worcester. the driver dropped the 5-year-old boy off on hamilton street without an adult to pick him up. that' s against school policy. emily: right now the top , republican candidates are getting ready for their third debate. this comes as a new poll shows dr. ben carson leading donald trump for the first time nationally since the summer. randy: today we are expecting new answers about what happened before bella bond was found dead on deer island. emily: the eyeopener' s jim lokay is live at the state house with the focus of a new state report. jim: governor baker wants to figure out how a family that was known to state agencies could get to this point and become the

focus of a case that sparked national outrage. the state' s office of the child advocate has been investigating the bella bond family at the governor' s request. right now, the girl' s mother and her mother' s boyfriend are being held on murder charges. both are accused in the death of the two-year-old whose remains were found in a trash bag on deer island in june. the massive effort to identify the little girl stretched on for months even her own mother , allegedly staying silent through the entire affair. we already know dcf investigated neglect allegations involving bella bond. but those cases were closed at the time of her death. today' s report will focus on how those cases where handled and who was involved with the family. we will keep you updated on new developments. live at the statehouse, jim lokay, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: new this morning, an initiative to ban the n-word from boston public schools. community leaders met with superintendent tommy chang yesterday. they tell "the herald" this is not about punishing students. it' s about informing them that

starting to tap the brake s. north of town a car fire 495 northbound by route 133. lane closure in andover. no problems on the pike. so far, so good on 95. route 3, a delay at the braintree split. randy: breaking news, an overnight fire put dozens of people out in the cold. emily: the eyeopener' s sera congi is live in lynn with the latest in this investigation. sera: 31 people are displaced, including seven children. you can see what happened to their homes. the fire on the top two floors of this building. flames broke out on the second floor. the three alarm fire it was into the walls within minutes of firefighters getting here. everyone got out safely.

emily: an attack in a subway car in philadelphia. two people tried to rob a passenger who had fallen asleep. he chases them onto the platform, where they pull out a taser and knock into the ground. he winds up on the tracks. the victim was able to pull himself back up before another train came. police are now searching for the two suspects. randy: the funeral is today for a new york city police officer gunned down last week. investigators have determined that the gun used to kill officer randolph holder was found in the city through the it came in that way. those weapons 74 of them, were , smuggled into the city from south carolina. six arrests were made tuesday in connection to that pipeline on the same day the shooting suspect was indicted. emily: dashcam video has been released in a deadly encounter between a teenager and a police officer in south carolina. this happened over the summer. police say lieutenant mark tiller was conducting an undercover drug operation when
