the investigation as to how it broke loose is under way. >> a new report on the bella tragedy. her body washed up on deer island in june. the chilled's advocate found they closed the investigation prematurely back in 2013. they did not thoroughly evaluate the fitness of bella's mother to be a parent. >> an investigation into a string of b.b. gun shootings. the attacks targeting businesses and motorists and drivers. three businesses, along route 53 were hit. the windows at a bank, pizza restaurant and outdoor deer store were also damaged. a woman driving 139 in hanover was shot at, a window on her car was shattered. >> harvey joins us now tracking a storm that's bringing soaking rain and a lot of wind. >> do we have flooding concerns? >> if we have flooding concerns it would be localized during the heaviest part of the downpours only because the leaves, you know, will block some drains. so that's will be a factor. we

don't have to worry about streams or rivers. you can see some of the darker greens. as i widen out, a heavy band moving into southwest connecticut. another wave down around washington. that's the way it will be. raining lightly at times and transport downpours at other times. here's a look at some of the heavy downpours around the region. could be a rumble of thunder. best chance of a thunderstorm early tomorrow when the last couple of batches move through. by 10:00 in the morning it's over except for the cape. might take longer down there. for the last of the rain to move through. then skies will brighten. we have to worry about the wind, already gusting to 30 but it's likely to build so there could be some gusts at 40 to 50 later tonight and first thing tomorrow morning. after that the winds will diminish a little bit although it will still remain breezy. for the coast not major situation but marcy boulevard will take on water in that 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. time frame with a 1:00 a.m. high tide, astro formally high. then add

7:00 p.m. to midnight tonight, there will also be splash overdown there. much more coming up in a few minutes. >> a final goodbye today for yawning new hampshire boy who died suddenly while walking to his friend's house. christopher was only nine years old and today his parents talking about their son. ed harding joins us. >> only nine. christopher died while doing a good deed. something his family says was very important to him. last friday, he and his dad, bill, made cookies for their neighbor and while they walked down the street to deliver them christopher suddenly fell. right to the ground. he died from heart failure. his mother says her son always wanted to give to others even at a young age. >> he wanted to make sure that people would smile, because he just kind of thought that everybody should have a reason to smile. >> a fund was created to help pay for his funeral expenses. thousands has been raised so far. christopher's family says they are overwhelmed by the

entire community. j.c.? >> thank you. six rhode island dunkin' donuts workers were sickened by smoke today the workers were taken to the hospital with respiratory issues and headaches. fire officials say an electrical element in a quick cook oven shorted out sending smoke into the restaurant. health and electrical inspections were completed before the restaurant reopened at noon. >> right now boston police are trying to track down this man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in brighton. the man is considered armed and dangerous following thursday night's shooting. desmond joseph of austin was killed. anish anish active is under -- initiative is under way to been the n word from school. the next step is to meet with boston student advisory council. >> a wrong turn cost a man big bucks.

his jeep landed in a mud pit last week. it took 12 hours for police and a tow truck to get out the vehicle. as a result, he received a bill for $48,000. the owner of the tow company says the jeep's proximity to power lines put his team in dangerous conditions and the feeds reflect industry standards. >> let's take a look at traffic at 5:35. rain slowing down the commute. on both sides of the pike in and out of boston. let's take a closer look. we go to 93 as we head southbound. 42 minutes. this is longer than expected. mass to route 3. the turnpike as you can see highlighted in red, jammed, newton corner, 27 minutes. both sides of 128 are struggling. further west on the pike, western tolls to 495, more than half an hour and slow on both sides of 495. northbound, 13 minutes, mass pike to i-290. that's a look at first alert traffic. another passenger plane hit by a laser. >> this

the plane did land safely. paramedics were called to the scene. the captain declined treatment there. were 174 people on-board and we remind you, as always when we do these stories, aiming a laser at a cockpit is a federal crime that can result in a five-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine. >> prince harry is washington today. >> an international competition designed to help wounded warriors. >> a driver loses control and ends up on a roof. how officials say this mustang got on top of the house. >> a triple threat overnight with rain, wind and coastal concerns.

>> take a look at this picture. a car crash on top of a home in michigan. this is what happened. that's a ford mustang on the roof there. the homeowner says she heard a huge crash right before it happened the house is built right next to a hill so the roof is nearly level with the ground. police say the driver lost control, went through a fence before eventually ending up there on the roof. >> two nasa astronauts spent some time outside doing a little work. kelly is in the middle of a mission to spend one year on-board the station. kelly took the picture just before the space walk and

he'll break the 215 day record shot. he'll return to earth in march. >> he's been tweeting a lot. good to follow him on twitter. u.s. he's on a trip upcoming games. an international competition for wounded warriors. today harry along with first lady michelle obama and biden met with veterans in the washington, d.c. area. he says he hopes the games will have a big impact. >> one thing we have to talk about is breaking dow these barriers around so-called invisible injuries. like post-traumatic stress. just as we have for physical injuries, like limb. this is a topic i know the first lady and dr. biden are working hard to highlight so people no longer afraid to ask for help. >> next year the games will be held in orlando, florida. >> thousands of people are without power after golf ball size hail fell

in australia. take a look at the scene. the powerful storm also brought heavy rain, powerful winds to the northeastern part of the country. two people were hurt and at least 200 homes were damaged. >> we're not getting hail with the the next storm although thunderstorms are part of this heavy rain. >> the heavy rain and thunderstorms but warmer temperatures eventually. >> yes. in fact that will be happening tonight. i want to show you the latest on radar. where you see dark greens are some bands of rain, up around gloucester and cape ann but i want you to see a very heavy band that's now moved into western connecticut just to the west of hartford that indicates we've got heavier downpours to deal with later on tonight. when i widen it out you can surely see that band over there but you continue to widen it out. more bands developing around the nation's capitol. it will be that kind of night. wet pretty much the whole time. at times raining. at other times downpours. with maybe a little embedded thunder. here's the way it looks, few be out later on tonight.

remember, some of the leaves will come down. block up a few storm drains and during heavier episodes some ponding on the roadways and localized street flooding. early tomorrow morning especially the first half of the commute or let's just say during tomorrow morning's commute you should be aware that's when there can be the best chance of a few embedded thunderstorms, with even a slight chance of severe weather. here's 7:00, which could feature a few thunderstorms. maybe even a short line of storms that would be exiting around the cape and the islands, around 10:00 or 11:00. thereafter we get some brightening skies. the winds will be very mild to warm out of the south-southwest. we're going to be very mild for the end of october during the course of tomorrow. you see how it's mainly clear by tomorrow evening for the patriots game. that's good news. but before we get to that. we can expect most of us to get one to two inches of rain and pockets that could be a little higher. remember, if you wind up in one

can get a lot of rain in a short period of time. that's the rain aspect of this. the other thing that i wanted to point out is, of course, wind. we're getting gusts in boston up to 32 miles per hour. those winds will build more during the half of the night. i would say between now and 2:00 a.m. after that, winds may be slightly less, but we again may get stronger winds if we get a strong line of thunderstorms early tomorrow morning. this is usually one of our computer models, a little overdone but the idea is correct. many areas could see gusts to or a little over 40 miles per hour tonight. into the wee hours of the morning and then as we go through the day tomorrow it will still be breezy to windy but we'll be having milder and dry air moving in at that time. here are the temperatures. 48 in worcester but 60 now in new london, connecticut. very warm to the south so it's a backwards temperature pattern where it rises tonight. ridiculously warm and tropical feeling early tomorrow morning. as the last of the downpours and

thunderstorms move through, with brightening skies move into the 70s tomorrow. could be close to a record high. the record high is 79 in boston. i don't think we'll get to that and the record high in worcester is 78. it will be unusually warm. here's a look at the next seven days for you. of great interest, the weather for foxborough. the one wild card is the wind. 10 to 20 but i wouldn't be surprised if there are some gusts to 30 or higher. starting around 59 but falling through the 50s during the course of the game. friday is cooler and saturday is chillier, but not bad. so for the trick-or-treaters, starts out in the low 50s. around late afternoon, in the low 40s, during the evening hours. and into the 30s very late at night. sunday, may have a spot shower or two. otherwise, once we get through with this round of wet weather, a pretty nice stretch of mid to temperatures early november next week look like they are going to be averaging above normal. we'll see you at 6:00. >> 74 tomorrow and yet still talking about the christmas tree

that will be put up in front of the u.s. capitol. now on a 4,000 mile journey across the country because for the first time ever the tree is from alaska. the tree is a spruce, 74 feet tall, estimated to be 90 years old and the woman in charge of the search said it took three weeks to find it. >> i did find a couple of others that were nice but this one, know, far surpassed all the other trees. >> the tree will make a few stops in alaska so people can get a good look at it before heading to washington, d.c. and it will be it will december 2. >> getting ready to serve some free breakfasts all thanks to a stolen base. the fast food chain promised. kansas city royals outfielder kane got it done in the sixth inning of game one. taco bell will hand out the free food next thursday. >> this next one shouldn't be surprising to anyone. a new survey finds most parents eat their children's halloween

>> tonight we're hearing from the parents of a teen who walked in her sleep more than nine miles. when the parents woke up and noticed that the backdoor was open and her phone, car and shoes were left behind they knew something was wrong. she was gone sleepwalking in the middle of the night. police were called in to help find her. taylor had made her way to her uncle's home and doesn't remember a thing. >> she just starts walking. i don't think she knows where she's going or what she's doing which makes it even scarier. >> without question. the parents are installing an alarm on their backdoor to keep it from happening again. >> new 59 -- at 5:30, a dispute, harassment claims. the judge wasted no time in bringing this to issue a close. >> meet the witch and the warlock. both in court today in salem.

witch claims the warlock, who is also her former business associate, christopher day, has been making harassing phone calls to her in the middle of the night from a private number. she testified today about the she picked up the phone. >> one word. the she word, and hung up. >> i challenge any one of you, i'll give any one of you $10,000 if you can prove that i made any of those phone calls. >> she also says the warlock has been writing nasty posts about her on social media. >> the judge sided with the witch. ordering the warlock not to harass the witch in any way. >> the warlock, christopher day, did not testify. but outside court after the hearing she repeatedly proclaimed his innocence. >> i have affidavits from people saying that she said she wanted to destroy me and pis on my

how dcf failed baby bella. news. a run away blimp and the attempt to bring it to the ground. >> it's a story that rocked boston's catholic church to its core. now the the big screen the reaction from the red carpet. >> from boston's news leader, this is wcvb, newscenter 5 at 6:00. >> take a live look at radar. heavy rain is moving through right now. the remnants of hurricane patricia and along with the wind, high rains and possible flooding. >> harvey. >> the wind has been picking up, over 30 miles per hour in boston. notice the strongest winds are generally along the south coast, southeastern mass, cape, and east coast of massachusetts but there will be some stronger winds over the inland areas as well. this is the first wave of rain that's come in. it really hasn't amounted to anything too high but made things wet and miserable but here's the first patch of much heavier rain now that's moved into southwestern connecticut.

as a matter of fact, we can see that we have had about a quarter of an inch around orange and a third of an inch around province but there is a lot more to come. look at the heavy band moving into connecticut now. that may have a little thunder with it as it moves north and east. more heavy bands developing further to the south and west so they take you out in time. this is a more high resolution model. notice one wave of heavy downpours in here. around 8:00 or 9:00 tonight. still around 11:00. it will be a little off and on in terms of heavy downpours but look at 3:00 a.m. developing, and at any time, from this point to mid morning tomorrow, there maybe some localized strong winds with a line of storms right around 7:00 tomorrow morning. is possible in part of our area before it exits. when all is said and done we widespread one to two inches and locally higher amounts of rain with localized flooding during the heaviest of downpours. >> thanks. the storm is causing some england. these pictures here are from milford, connecticut.
