accused of posing as a heating contractor to gain access to a school. police believe he stole money from teachers. >> and that this wasn' t the first time. newscenter 5' s pam cross is live in cohasset. pam:l it happened tuesday at the elementary school behind me. the charge isn' t much, but the implication certainly are. 31-year-old anthony binsfield, now in a tee shirt, accused of wearing the uniform of his former company to get inside this cohasset school. the prosecutor repeats what the health teacher told police, -- >> she stated she was under the impression of the individual work for the hvac company. pam: binsfield is under investigation after cash was missing from 3 classrooms. it doesn' t end there, several weeks ago a similar incident at cohasset' s osgood school. >> i' ve been to all the front

offices and review the protocols. we found a few gaps that we now have to tighten up. pam: binsfield faces trial next month for larceny in plymouth, he' s under investigation in duxbury for theft. binsfield told police he was looking at the system for a business he was going to start on his own but later admitted to an opioids addiction. >> they were talking about a lot of things. the fact is he hasn' t been charged. at this point he' s been charged with trespass. pam:' s mama girlfriend not talking at all. he is being held at $750 cash bail. anchor: tragic tragic news out of manchester new hampshire tonight, where a baby girl was found dead in her home. police responded to the apartment just before 11:00 this morning and were met by a woman living in the home. foul play is not suspected. police continue to investigate -- trying to figure out what happened. jc: a very rough ride on route 1 in revere this morning.

several vehicles damaged tires -- damaged, tires flattened, but not by an ordinary pothole. newscenter 5' s todd kazakiewich is live in revere to explain. reporter: this damaged tire and rim is from one of the five vehicles disabled this morning. >> unfortunately did not see it. reporter: small gaps in the tires -- road popped tires. >> all of a sudden i heard boom, and my car almost flipped over. reporter: tow truck operators drivers. we drove on the overpass this afternoon and spotted the pavement patch. even after the repairs, you hear a bump and feel a jolt when you hit it at highway speed. it was much worse this morning. >> i almost died. m young.

a strategy that the president announced more than a year ago. reporter: white house spokesman josh earnest on the defensive, saying this is not a reversal of presdient obama' s previous statements that he would not send u.s troops into syria. according to the administration, these troops would not be involved in trying to oust syrian president bashir al assad. they would focus instead on the fight against isis, now also being called daesh, by aiding, assisting and training local fighters inside syria. >> we are intensifying our counter-daesh campaign and efforts to end the conflict. reporter: at the same time the troop movement was announced, us secretary of state john kerry was in vienna with 17 other nations, including plans for peace in the syrian civil war. russia has urged the us to stay out of the conflict with assad. >> i believe that neither of us want to go back to a so called

>> president obama was absent for the announcement. republicans have already begun critizing this move as insufficient. phil: the republican national committee suspends its partnership with nbc news. this comes after wednesday night' s heavily criticized debate on cnbc. the rnc chairman says it did not focus on economic issues as promised and that the candidates were asked questions that were quote, inaccurate and downright offensive. the rnc also won' t allow the network to co-host a presidential primary debate scheduled for february. jc: a massachusetts couple is under arrest in south carolina after bay state authorities sent out an alert over concern for their children. 49-year-old kevin burns and 34-year-old missy stoddard of westfield, massachusetts, were arrested wednesday night. an officer spotted the van with mass plates that matched the alert. he found the couple and 3 small children along with marijuana, heroin and $3,000 in cash. burns and stoddard are both charged with drug possession. phil: right now this man is behind bars, charged in a violent attack on an elderly couple.

the victims found beaten in the middle of the street. it happened in providence, rhode island. only on 5, the victim' s mother speaks to our frank holland, as her son faces a judge. >> the man accused of viciously beating an elderly couple in providence will have his mental health evaluated for the criminal case -- before the criminal case against him proceeds. the judge decided a competency exam was needed. we spoke to his mother this morning. she did not speak much english, but her heartbreak very clear. >> my son. [indiscernible] reporter: police say that he attacked an elderly couple with a metal baseball bat. a 72-year-old ran out of gas. his wife came to help. the man is accused of coming out of his house and hitting the

couple in the body, the head, and in the face with that metal bat. some good news about the elderly couple seriously injured on wednesday night, the wife has been upgraded to stable condition. the husband remains in critical. the man returns to court in november. jc: the mbta is boosting security at its stations, following a deadly attack on a teenager last week. 17-year-old mason raymond was stabbed to death at the jackson square stop, during a fight with another teen. now, transportation secretary stephanie pollack tells herald radio she wants more officers to be visible on both trains, and station platforms. phil: workers sanitize areas of king philip regional high school in wrentham after a student is confirmed to have contracted mrsa. classrooms and other areas of the school were cleaned from floor to ceiling. no other cases of the antibiotic-resistant infection have been confirmed. school officials say the student is receiving treatment and doing

jc: a building collapse in new york city leaves one construction worker dead tonight. the manhattan building was being demolished when part of it caved in this morning. another worker was trapped under the rubble for 3 hours before being rescued. the other 17 workers on site were not injured. it' s not clear what caused the collapse in the five-story building. phil: a fire in a chemistry classroom leaves five virginia high school students hurt, 2 of them with potentially life-threatening injuries. the fairfax county fire department says those two students are in the hospital' s burn center. a hazardous materials team was called in following a school evacuation. jc: police releasing new video inside that texas restaurant that was the scene of a biker gang shootout back in may. this is security camera footage from the twin peaks restaurant in waco. you see several bikers armed , others scrambling for cover. in the end, 9 bikers were killed. this incident is one of the most violent among motorcycle clubs. 177 bikers have been charged in

phil: today marks one year since tformer boston mayor tom menino died. a moment of silence was held at city hall plaza this afternoon. menino, who served 20 years as mayor before stepping down last january, died of cancer. boston mayor marty walsh says while this has been a tough week for menino' s family, the former mayor' s legacy is clear. >> there are so many things you can point to, but his legacy is
