5:03 am
doctor: i believe he did it intentionally. he drove into me. i think, therefore, he was likely paying attention and then chose not to stop. being delayed 30 seconds is not a reason why you can just drive someone off the road. john: that doctor has new hope this morning that police will find this driver now that they have this critical surveillance video. in cambridge, john atwater, wcvb, newscenter 5. antoinette: breaking news. a russian jetliner that left egypt for st. petersburg is now missing. officials in egypt say that plane disappeared from radar 23 minutes after taking off from sign eye's airport. it's a popular destination for russian tourists. search-and-rescue teams are looking for that plane right now. frank: lawyers for marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev were back before a judge yesterday asking for their attorney-client privileges to be extended for what will now be a lengthy

5:14 am
is moving across the area still drying out from the remnants of hurricane patricia. the storms are bringing torrential downpours, flash-flooding, and threat for tornados. at least two towns in texas are dealing with suspected tornado damage today. a possible twister was reported tearing apart several downtown buildings in d'hanisa bank, and a fire station sustained heavy damage there. a high school and other buildings were also damaged in nearby floresville, possibly by another tornado. >> i was afraid that the building was going to collapse. it was kind of scary. when i felt everything shaking and everything, i just ran back outside. frank: teams from the national weather service will be there later today surveying the damage. antoinette: a lot of moisture down there too in the mid western part of the country. is that going to head towards us? danielle: that storm is going to stay south of us. so it means we will be in for a dry forecast at least for halloween but there are showers
5:15 am
that could make it towards us for tomorrow morning. down in texas a very serious situation this morning as they do have a tornado warning right now for the houston area. closer to home, notice our local live radar is clear. the big story this morning is the very cool temperatures outside with temperatures in the 20's and 30's. it's definitely a frosty start. but as we go flew the day today, temperatures will rebound into the low 50's. still below average so it is a cool halloween. but at least it's clear and dry. now there could be a couple of showers early sunday morning especially, i think, north and west. that's the best chance. as we look ahead to the workweek, it's a mild start to the month of november. we're going to love that with temperatures warming into the 60's and nearing 70 degrees. as for the next 12 hours in boston, notice lots of sunshine until about lunchtime or so. then we're going to see some clouds through the afternoon. temperaturewise, only warming
5:16 am
too. the winds shifting from the north and west to the south so eventually that is going to be a warming wind. we do have high pressure that's in control briing us lots of sunshine today. then we're watching this area of rain you see through parts of chicago. all this is going to be lifting in our direction. so as we go through the day today, lots of sunshine, as i said, before on future cast. by lunchtime, still sunny. but once we get through the afternoon, here comes some of those clouds rolling in and just in time for trick or treating, say, about 6:00 p.m. we're definitely going to have clouds around. we're still dry and we keep it dry throughout the entire trick-or-treating process but here is that rain knocking on our doorstep. so if you're headed out tonight for the kiddos, we're starting in the 50's but we will fall back into the 40's by the end of the night. overnight temperatures may drop as cool as the upper 30's through the merrimack valley, low 40's in boston and low 40's
5:17 am
also in the worcester area. and then tomorrow with a southwest wind, we're going to warm back up into the upper 50's, low 60's and notice there will be a lot of clouds around i think through the day. the best chances of the showers though going to be mainly north and west. watch this on the future cast. by 10:00 entering the western half of the state, they come across and notice it's really southern new hampshire, maybe a couple of showers on the cape although i'm not necessarily buying that. i think the showers are mainly north and west until about lunchtime or so but once we get towards 2:00 notice it starts to clear out, those clouds. and we'll actually see more sunshine through the later half of the day as those temperatures really warm up nicely. so the big story is a couple of showers in the morning. really north and west. not everyone is going to see them. and then we start to dry things out once again. we're dry and we're mild as we get towards monday and tuesday. i do want to talk about monday. there is a storm system down to the south of us, but what it looks like on our latest models
5:18 am
so it is not really going to impact our weather. maybe just getting a couple of clouds to the cape overnight monday into tuesday but notice the temperatures stay in the 60's and low 70's through the workweek. antoinette and frank. antoinette: danielle, thank you. time right now is 5:189. other stories we're following right now. frank: a deadly nightclub fire in romania has killed at least 27 people. romania's interior minister says hundreds of others are hospitalized. the fire happened in the basement of a club in downtown bucharest. a metal band was performing when pyrotechnics sparked the blaze onstage. witness say the club only had one exit. antoinette: health officials in oregon say a teenage girl is recovering from a case of bubonic plague. they believe she contracted the bacteria from an infected flea during a hunting trip earlier this month. the c.d.c. says there have been 15 other human cases of the plague in the u.s. this year. four of those patients have died. frank: workers have sanitized areas of king philip regional high school in wrentham after a student is confirmed to have contracted mrsa. classrooms and other areas of
