the second story in just about two days about a driver nearly being impaled behind the wheel. this time in new jersey, it was an 18-year-old girl who was just inches from being struck by an eight-foot picket fence post. she hit the gas to avoid another car and wound up plowing through the fence near a school yard that was filled with kids. no one was injured. the cdc says about half of pregnant women gain too much weight. women already overweight or obese are more likely to pile on the extra pounds according to the latest study. that can harm mom and baby. only about a third of women gained the recommended amount of weight and about a fifth gained too little. swallowing a special balloon in a pill may help people lose weight. the ellipse balloon fills up with water to about the size of a grapefruit and makes the patient feel full. no surgery, no sedation required. patients in europe have lost about a third of their excess weight in four months.
