re waking up in the lower 60' s utley up to portsmouth, new hampshire this morning. a couple of showers you can see elsewhere and a fair amount of cloud cover ahead of a frontal boundary. despite a fair amount of clouds, i do think we will jump up pretty quickly. around 70 degrees by lunchtime. if we get enough sun, especially north and west town, that' s where we could see our warmest temperatures into the mid 70' s, with a high 74 in boston. look at the records today. we will be near record highs. we will break down the weekend coming up. olessa: good morning. starting things off at the pike.

we do have construction on 93 south. roadwork near route 24 and rude 134. s' more roadwork by newton corner. north of town some construction near 2a on 128. we are expecting the trains to start the morning on schedule. emily: thank you. breaking overnight, boston police are looking into a death in dorchester. police and the medical examiner responded to 60 southern avenue before midnight. a body was taken from that building. right now it' s not clear who that person was or how they died. randy: right now u.s. airlines is doing what they can to boost security, as terrorism looms as a possibility in a deadly plane crash. emily: hundreds of people were killed when a passenger plane went down in egypt, and some think it' s the work of isis. randy: the eye' s frank holland is live at logan airport with what this means for travel to the u.s. frank? frank: intelligence leaders are keeping a closer eye o commercial flights headed to the states.

this comes as concerns grow about a bomb taking down that russian metrojet flight last saturday. counterintelligence leaders are focusing on electronic intercepts of terrorists, talking about a bomb. but there' s no solid evidence that the terror group isis is responsible. the concern still having an impact here. u.s. airlines will reportedly add security to flights coming to america. even before the russian jet crash, an undercover sting operation last summer exposed deep security lapses at u.s. airports. >> here at home, 90% of the covert efforts by tsa approved inadequate. frank: transportation officials say the biggest focus, for now, will be enhancing security specifically for flights from the middle east. live at logan airport, frank holland, wcvb, newscenter 5. emily: thank you. other stories we' re following right now -- new information on a woman' s body found bound and burned in bridgewater. our partners at the enterprise report police now think she was killed elsewhere, then dumped in

bridgewater. the unidentified victim was found just before midnight tuesday along railroad tracks on oak street. randy: police are still trying to figure out who was found dead inside a burned-out car in worcester. investigators spent the day chipping away at the charred ground off swan avenue, and sifting through the dirt to find clues. the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to figure out if the person inside the car died in the fire before it started. emily: a renewed effort to solve the case of a murdered new hampshire woman. fbi agents have joined local investigators yesterday to search an area one block away from where denise robert was gunned down while walking in her neighborhood in late august. the 62-year-old newspaper employee was shot once in the head. no suspect has been identified. a reward to help solve the murder has now topped $42,000. randy: newscenter5 on the opioid crisis. there' s a new look at one cause of the deadly epidemic. the eye' s antoinette antonio is live at the state house with the new revelations.

antoinette: the concern here is the painkiller fentanyl. new data from the department of public health shows a huge spike in fatal overdoses linked to the painkiller. the data shows that over the last year, the number of people who fatally overdosed with fentanyl in their system topped 330 cases. that' s a more than 50% spike from the previous 12-month period. it' s not clear if fentanyl was the actual cause of death in those instances. the department of public health does not know how many of the total overdose deaths in the state last year are linked to fentanyl. other states do keep track of that information, and governor baker says it' s time massachusetts starts doing a the same. dph officials say they are working to overhaul their reporting system. in all there were 1200 overdose deaths statewide in 2014. antoinette antonio, wcvb,

emily: new this morning, trouble for a high-traffic boston bridge after nearly $57 million in renovations. right now, engineers are throwing up red flags on the alford street bridge, which connects everett to charlestown. that includes loose pieces in the metal grid system on the movable part of the bridge. no fender to guide ships under the bridge correctly. and defective switches that open and lower the drawbridge. that function has failed at least three times this year. including this incident, in march, when the bridge was stuck in an open position, backing up traffic for miles. randy: commitment 2016. some big names are out of the next republican debate. chris christie and mike huckabee now have been relegated to the under-card debate. they' re joined by bobby jindal and rick santorum. these are the eight candidates who will appear in the main fox business debate on tuesday. hillary clinton is coming out with strong words for her republican opponents. the eye' s erika tarantal joins us with the late-night appearance.

erika: the democratic presidential contender appeared on "jimmy kimmel" last night. she said she was both appalled and amused as she watched the last republican debate, suggesting the candidates avoided serious issues. mrs. clinton: i just wish she they big issues. erika: clinton declined to say much about ben carson, who has a 10-point lead over her in the newest quinnipiac poll. kimmel did mention carson' s latest headline-making statement, about a biblical figure building the egyptian pyramids. clinton simply said presidential contenders have to watch what they say. she spent more time joking about her husband if he becomes a and what to call him if he becomes a "first spouse." mrs. clinton: it is more complicated with him. i have to really work on this.

randy: an impressive story of survival. this 3-month-old lab was stranded in the water off the coast of italy after falling off a ferry. great recovery. the owner had cried for the ferry to stop. but the pilot said the dog likely already drowned. a half-hour later, sailors spotted the dog paddling toward their boat. the pup, named noodle, was later reunited with his happy owner. emily: happy ending. very perseverance. there you go. randy: this is awesome this morning. cindy: this has been an unusually warm we so far in boston. more than nine degrees above average. 76 yesterday. our record high today is 73, and i think we have a chance of getting there.
