ed: look closely atour screen. the officers are hanging on for dear life. they pulled over for a traffic stop and he took off. tonight we are learning more about that man's lengthy driving record. kill looy tuthill -- kelley tuthill is live. reporter: the police officers are okay, but it was a frightening scene here as the police officers were dragged and the suspect was allegedly hitting parked cars. new surveillance video shows a boston police officer's legs hanging out a suspect's car window. police say it started when they tried to pull brian gilbert over for speeding and driving erratically down blue hill avenue about 7:00. >> they tried to ask the individual to shut off his car. he took off and dragged them both. one was able to break loose. reporter: the other tried to reach the passenger window to put the car in park. he accelerated down strike stratton street. >> he had to hop into the car and then the vehicle hit

parked cars. reporter: his lengthy driving record includes six suspensions and four revocations. he now faces a slew of new charges including assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon on a police officer and possession of drugs with intent to distribute. >> it goes to the danger of this job. you never know what can happen when you go out on patrol. reporter: gilbert who spent time in federal prison pleaded not guilty. his defense attorney told the judge there's two sides to the story. kelley tuthill, wcvb newscenter 5. heather:they are tracking high winds and some weather heading our way. . harvey: yes, rain and wind is coming. here is an idea of the time line. you won't have to worry about the morning commute or lunchtime in terms of rain. the heaviest is likely to be overnight and linger into wednesday morning. there is also a wind advisory along the coast with this.

now, here is the edge of the rain moving into the nation's capitol. the time line shows you that we are okay for the morning commute. even though the clouds are gathering and thickening. right around the evening commute from southwest to northeast the rain starts to over spread the region. now, the wind advisory is for the east facing coastal areas of massachusetts and it goes into affect from 1:00 a.m. wednesday to 4:00 p.m. wednesday, northeast to northerly winds and could be gusts 40 to 50 miles an hour. many more details on this and what will follow coming up in heather? heather:we are hearing from the friends and family of the man killed in the suv that plunged into the charles river. rhondella richardson has more. reporter: neighbors here expect unspeakable grief because his sister died a few years ago and now his parents have lost two children. condolences.

continue to move northeastward, but we have a lot of dry air over us. morning commute or the lunchtime tomorrow. anytime from the evening commute on is when we can in. once it does we will get some heavier bands overnight tomorrow night and into veterans day morning. the problem is we will be left with a chilly, raw, gusty northerly wind with low cloudiness and perhaps rain or drizzle could linger into wednesday. most especially the morning hours. i don't think we will see clearing if we do it all wednesday night. how much rain to expect? half an inch in worcester and boston is in between. this will all depend on the exact track of the storm. it could be a little more or a little less. we need the rain, you know that. we are far below the average.

boston -- 9 inches below average in boston. along the coast, 20 to 30 miles an hour and could be some gusts 40 to 50 miles an hour. the winds are not a factor the day. it is later tomorrow night they will start to build and get gusty. see that 7:00 a.m. on wednesday. veteran's day is a windy, wet, windy into the afternoon and even as we start to dry out. it will take longer for the winds to ease off along the coast. as far as wind impacts there could be a few tree impacts. power outages should be scattered. and coastal flooding will be a splash over. it is already down to 39 in orange with the thin clouds. it will be chilly tonight and tomorrow the temperatures will reach the 50s before the rain moves into the region. here is the next seven days and i want to break down veterans day for you. obviously it is an important
