this morning, we launch our new "5 on campaign," "5 on veterans." we' re focusing on the role our military members have played in shaping the country. randy: we' ll feature their stories and also the challenges that many face, and what' s being done to help. there are more than 390,000 veterans living in massachusetts right now, according to the veterans administration. the largest single group is those who served in the vietnam war, nearly 130,000 of them. emily: in our coverage throughout the day we' ll feature personal stories, from veterans of the greatest generation those who fought in vietnam and post -9/11 veterans who struggle with anxiety and stress. you' ll hear how some veterans are using their own experiences to make the road to help and make it easier for others. and see the newest tools in medical and mental health and the research underway to help with treatment. randy: all that' s ahead, but first cindy has the forecast.

another veteran. that makes a difference in their lives. emily: these are some of those veterans who want to help, the state' s veteran services officers. there is one in every city and town in the state. they help veterans get into programs and can help them with care and benefits.
