s sera congi is live in barnstable with what we know right now. sera: this incident involved a wrong way driver. it played out on route 60. the injuries were minor. state police say this happened last night around 11:30. the damage that was done to the front of a cruiser. reports first came in of a wrong way driver heading east on the westbound side of route six. in response to cruisers trying to slow down traffic ahead of the driver, between exit seven and eight. he ended up hitting one of the cruisers. the trooper was taken to cape cod hospital, released with minor injuries. state police say the wrong way driver is an elderly man with medical issues. he is being evaluated. right now, an investigation is underway to determine if any charges will be filed. live, sera congi. emily: right now police are

putting out an alert about an online trap. and it' s targeting people hoping to connect with what could be that perfect match. the eyeopener' s antoinette antonio is live in boston with the dangerous scheme. antoinette? antoinette: this is something to think about if you use an online dating app. police say the victims think they' re meeting a date only to end up robbed at gunpoint. this has happened six times in the last five weeks always in , mattapan and dorchester. police are not saying which dating apps or sites the victims used or if those victims are men or women. but they do say the armed suspect is always a man. a boston matchmaker tells us the victims likely fell for fake profiles made with stock photos. >> it is sad, because there are a lot of wonderful people out there who are dying for a relationship. they blow all caution to the wind.

antoinette: boston police say online daters should always arrange to meet in a public location. another tip for you if the , person won' t skype or use a webcam to talk to you be wary. live outside, internet antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: right now a man is facing charges accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a community fundraiser in westport. police say patrick kane altered $5000 in checks then deposited them in his own account. they also say kane has been running other fundraisers around the area for several years under business names, including community efforts. police are investigating whether others might have also been involved. >> i am not afraid. i am here. my voice is going to be heard this time. randy: a sex assault survivor speaking out against her attacker' s attempt to get off new hampshire' s sex offender registry. the eye' s erika tarantal is here

with the bitter fight underway -- underway. erika: we are protecting that woman' s identity. the attacker has been allowed by the courts to go by john doe. he pleaded guilty to sex assault in 1987. now he' s suing the state because he wants to qualify for public housing but can' t because he' s on the sex offender registry. and the law might be on his side. in february the new hampshire supreme court ruled that offenders convicted prior to 1994 before lifetime restrictions were enacted can apply to have their names removed. it doesn' t make sense to the woman hurt nearly 30 years ago. >> when you are a murderer, you don' t become not a murderer anymore. he is a sex offender. he doesn' t get to be not a sex offender anymore. emily: the coalition against domestic and sexual violence says the process is not regulated enough. what do you think? should people convicted of sex assault be able to remove their names from the registry? vote in our now poll on the wcvb facebook page. emily? emily: this morning there are

after its revealed that a -- after it is revealed that a convicted felon accused of dragging two boston police officers used to drive for the ride share service. surveillance video from sunday shows the legs of a boston police officer sticking out of the car allegedly driven by bryant gilbert. uber admits an initial background check missed gilbert' s six license suspensions and a record that includes drug possession. a current uber driver tells newscenter 5 there are issues. >> the uber driver is really easy. risky for some customer. >> if he were to be vetted as a boston cab driver is vetted, that would never happen. emily: gilbert was fired only after uber beefed up its background checks. a state lawmaker is impressed with airbnb' s willingness to work with the community but says there' s still work to be done on regulation. state representative aaron michlewitz introduced a bill back in january to tax the

and homes. but yesterday airbnb released a compact saying it will work with cities on collecting certain taxes and preventing the rentals from hurting the availability of long-term housing. randy: two more republicans are adding their names to the first-in-the-nation primary. senator lindsey graham will file in concord, new hampshire, at 9:00 this morning. senator ted cruz will file at 9:45 then hold a rally outside the state house. fan-duel is telling customers in new york to keep playing despite a prosecutor' s orders. new york' s attorney general recently called fan duel and draft kings illegal gambling , ordering the fantasy sports sites to stop selling in that state. draft kings is also promising to fight to stay in business there. massachusetts is looking into the companies too. but the attorney general says the decision in new york won' t affect the outcome of her

chillier temperatures for your weekend. >> you made it, buddy. good boy. randy: this is the happy ending to a big scare for a taunton family. their dog fell 25 feet down a well, and stayed there overnight. the rescue required a ladder, and a lot of patience from firefighters. here they are hoisting 2-year-old buddy out of a foot of water. he fell in the well on monday, but didn' t make a lot of noise, so no one knew where he was. it wasn' t until the next day that the kids figured out what was wrong and then they called the firefighters and the rescue started. >> i started talking to the dog. i was saying it was ok, buddy. that happened to be his name. randy: a firefighter got cut up in the tricky rescue, but he' s going to be ok. and buddy is just fine. emily: breaking news, a state trooper injured in wrong-way crash on the cape.

condition after a home explodes in new jersey. this duplex in the town of elizabeth was leveled yesterday morning. the mayor says it was a gas explosion on the second floor. and investigators are now looking into whether someone inside the house may have been illegally tapping into a natural gas line. cars are slowly being removed from a gaping hole that opened up in a mississippi parking lot. the ground caved in on saturday night, swallowing at least 12 vehicles. an expert says the 30-foot hole is likely the result of a drain collapsing, because of new construction in the area. incredibly, nobody was hurt. randy: student loan debt now, likely means later-than-expected retirement. a new study says the average student loan debt of $35,000 can cost graduates nearly $700,000 in lost retirement savings over 50 years. that means retirement won' t about the age 75. -- won'
