newsnter 5 at five. >> breaking news off the top, it is a night of terror off the streets of paris. >> the chaotic scene is unfolding. let' s get to john atwater. john: the associated press reporting 26 dead in a series of violent attack in paris. there have been three different attacks around that. police say there has been a shootout at a restaurant, where of gunfire. thousands of fans were watching the french president was there at the match. police in the streets of paris. cnn also said 60 people have been taken hostage. obviously an absolute night of chaos in paris as police respond to all these locations.

on the right side you see police officers on the streets of paris, obviously a tense situation. at least 11 killed in a shootout at a restaurant. more violence at a theater. we know at least 100 hostages have been taken. live pictures in paris both inside that stadium and on the streets of paris. homeland security is a credible threat to the united states. obviously everyone keeping their eyes on paris tonight. >> we want to tell you the new york prison escape the pled guilty -- pleaded guilty to the escape. sweat and his prison mate richard matt drilled their way facility in june. police after more than 3 weeks on the run. matt was shot and killed by police. sweat is already serving a life sentence without parole for a murder conviction.
