5:17 am
day. in fact, what is happening. weren't so bad. yesterday. but we made it into the upper 50's in boston. and mid 50's in worcester. but today we're only going to make it in boston into the mid 40's and in worcester into the low 40's which is about a 15-degree temperature drop the way you split it. we're talking about a much colder day to your saturday. in fact, here's what it looks like outside. these are the current air temperatures. 4 boston. 39 in worcester. 43 up in keene. 47 now on nantucket. but then you have to factor in those winds. those winds are gusting now upwards of 32 miles an hour in boston. but on the cape at 38 miles an hour. and on nantucket they're blowing at about 44 miles an hour. so that that's a very brisk wind. when you factor that in, you get values. this is actually what you're dressing for. it feels more like 30 degrees in
5:18 am
boston. that's how it's going to feel in most locations maybe even in the 20's in some locations at least this morning. and boston's wind speetds really aren't going to let up all that much. in fact, they're going to increase through the afternoon. these are the sustained winds at about 25 miles an hour. so you expect the gusts to be anywhere from 0 to about 40 miles an hour. the reason we're seeing this, it's all an area of low pressure up to the north and east. and the winds around it going counter clockwise. that's why we're seeing brisk conditions. now we're not necessarily seeing precipitation here in southern new england but up through parts of maine as well as up through parts of northern vermont, northern new hampshire. a couple of snow bands persisting there. they could even accumulate a little bit of snow up to the northern parts of the state. so if you're likely to like to go skiing, today might not be the best or bad day to do it. in fact here's what happens on the future cast. notice be start to clear out by, say, about lunchtime or so. then we're going to see a lot of sunshine through the day.
5:19 am
we will see sunshine. that's great news but it's not going to feel that great outside. especially with the winds. and then tonight clearing skies but with the winds persisting overnight, we won't drop down as cool. in fact, here's what we're talking about in terms of snow accumulation. there could be one to two inches up through parts of northern new hampshire and northern vermont and ski country. so highs today really only going to warm up into the low 40's worcester as well as in orange. 45 degrees in boston. 46 on the cape. 49 on nantucket. then tonight we'll drop temperatures back into the 30's and 20's. and tomorrow we'll still have breezy winds but with a westerly wind temperatures should bump up into the low to mid 50's across the area. now we're mild again on monday. notice we're in the mid 50's. front drop through. it is a dry cold front. so what it's going to just do is bring in cooler weather as we head towards, say, 11:00 monday night. and then notice on tuesday, we
