the trains and buses starting the morning on schedule. randy: thank you. breaking overnight. amid grief and fear french police take new action after the terror attacks on paris carrying out raids in several cities. and that is just one of the big developments we are following at this hour. emily: let's get right to the eyeopener's erika tarantal. she's tracking new information as it comes in. erika: emily, randy. french officials have just named as a belgian mind as the master mind. saying he was linked to other thwarted attacks. the french response is is very active on several fronts at this hour. we've learned one of the two bombers just eye deny phid was already facing a terrorism charge dating back to 2012. overnight police carried out more than 150 raids across france according to the prime minister. there are reports of arrests. massive air strikes on isis targets in syria. those strikes destroyed a jihady

training camp in raqqa where paris were planned. suspects, a 29-year-old french citizen, had been flagged as a possible terrorist five years ago. >> they did not have enough people to follow all of the suspects on their list. international manhunt is still the attack suspects that escaped. stopped him near the belgium border early saturday but let him go. later this morning, a moment of silence will be held around europe for the 129 people killed in friday's massacre. we'll bring you new information as we get it. emily? emily: right now authorities are sounding the "all clear" after a security scare on a flight bound for boston. the american airlines flight from washington, d.c., to logan was evacuated before take-off. these two men were removed from the plane after the "crew had concerns" about suspicious armed security teams swept the nothing. officials not taking any chances in the wake of friday's

on saturday at the lincoln stoddard army reserve center. "5 investigates" has learned thieves broke in through the roof and stole weapons from a building full of locked doors. no one will say exactly what weapons were taken. the timing of the theft so soon after the paris attacks certainly raised concerns. >> nothing at this point and time that would tie this to, you know, any specific or anything else at this point. sera: the missing weapons have been entered into a national database in hopes of recovering them quickly. we'll keep you posted. live in worcester, sera congi, wcvb, newscenter 5. randy: opening statements begin teen accused of killing his teacher. phillip chism is charged with ritzer at the high school two years ago. he was 14 at the time but is being tried as an adult. the trial was delayed for three weeks while chism underwent a

prepared, come in earlier. they would be more cautious of the clear bags and what you have thing. emily: a lot of new england fans making the trip for that game. everyone went home safe. randy: right now the cape cod community college campus in barnstable is on high alert after a written threat was found at the school. this morning's classes have been cancelled. the school will not open until the state police bomb squad and k-9 units have searched the newscenter 5 on the opioid crisis. governor charlie baker's opioid bill takes center stage at a public hearing this morning. the bill would restrict patients to a three-day supply of pain killers the first time they're prescribed an opioid drug. it also allowed doctors to commit patients involuntarily to a drug treatment facility for up to 72 hours if they're considered an immediate danger. the meeting is at 10 this

morning at the state house. emily: a 19-year-old is seriously hurt after he was shot while sitting in a car in revere. it happened along american legion highway around 8:00 last night while the teen was with his father. police say several shots were fired into the vehicle. the teen was struck in the neck and is in stable condition. police are now looking for a black s.u.v. with tinted windows. police are trying to figure out why a woman was in the road. the driver who hit her has not been charged. 5:08. cities and towns want more help fighting poverty. the label they need to address the problem effectively. and a local man nearly lost his son to the attacks in paris. why he says he feels badly for the terrorists who shot his child. erika? erika: breaking overnight. police in france have carried out more than 150 raids across the country looking for the people behind friday's attacks. it comes just hours after france launched air strikes against isis targets in syria. a moment of silence for the

60 degrees taunton, marshfield. 56 boston. coolest through the hilly terrain in worcester county where we're in the lower 50's today. it turns into a real nice afternoon. layers a real good idea. tonight will be the coldest night of the entire week. we're waking up tomorrow morning to a lot of 20's out the door. even flirting with the freezing mark in boston. that back-door cold front comes on by. winds will be more out of the north all day tuesday and even into wednesday as high pressure is sitting right on top of us. a lot of sunshine the next few days right through wednesday. expect dry weather with a good amount of sunshine. only in the mid 40's on tuesday. around 50 on wednesday. then we'll start to warm it up on thursday. there will be more of a southerly wind. you can see this system approaching from the west. it is going to feed in some rain. i think that rain comes in during the afternoon hours on thursday. the front is moving fairly slowly as a wave of low pressure rides along it. that will keep the rain going into friday one to two inches of rain potentially but it should wind down later friday setting us up for a dry weather next weekend.

his father yann, who lives on martha's vineyard, tells newscenter 5 his son was shot through the chest. the bullet, piercing his lung. incredibly, he is expected to survive. his father admits he's not upset with the attackers. yann: these people are brain washed. they have a story in their head that makes sense to them. and i would be a lot more angry at the people who put that story in there. emily: meersseman is making plans to go to his son's bedside in paris. he hopes to arrive by thursday. randy: the paris tragedy is having a financial impact this morning. asian stocks fell today, the first day of trading since the paris attacks sparked worry in the global economy. right now, stock futures are up on wall street. that's after the dow plummeted 202 points friday over fears that holiday shopping will be poor. at least a dozen cities and towns struggling with poverty are trying to be named "gateway

through the rest of your friday. randy: thank you, cindy. new hampshire police continue to search for the person who swiped a jar full of money that was supposed to go to seven-year-old in need. seven-year-old kira danser of keene has a neuromuscular disorder and motors around her neighborhood in a new power chair she got earlier this year. to help raise money for a van that can accommodate the chair, her mother set out a donation jar at the beaver street market where she works. but yesterday a young woman grabbed the jar and ran. >> i was very upset obviously because it's morally just very wrong. how do you steel from, one, a child and how do you steal from a child with physical needs? randy: the missing jar will be replaced by a new one. this time it will be fixed to the counter top. vermont state police are investigating after a driver's window was shattered by a bullet on the highway. it happened saturday on i-89 in

overnight with a number of arrests made. this as some 1,500 troops deployed continue their watch as the prime minister warns there's the potential for more attacks. a number of the suspected bombers now identified have known terror ties. turkey saying it warned france twice about one man. meantime an international manhunt is underway for one of the suspected attackers who was stopped but mistakenly released. two men he was traveling with were arrested in belgium. at least 129 people were killed across paris friday; more than 350 hurt-- nearly 100 of those critically. randy: president obama wraps up his trip at the g-20 summit in turkey today. world leaders at the event condemned the attacks in paris. several meetings are scheduled today to discuss the next steps against syria and the isis campaign. french president francois hollande skipped the summit to stay home in the aftermath of the attacks. facebook is defending its decision to activate its safety

friday's attacks in paris. the function allow you to indicate that you're safe in a time of crisis. critics point out though that facebook didn't activate the feature after the recent terror bombing in beirut. they say that's evidence of bias. facebook admits that friday marked a change in policy. before then the feature was only used for natural disasters. sera: randy, the f.b.i. is investigating a break-in here at the army facility in worcester. weapons were stolen. officials say they do not believe this is linked to terrorism. the break-in happened saturday overnight at the lincoln stoddard army reserve center. shooting her uncle to death in hyde park heads back to court today. yvonne lewis underwent a mental health evaluation following the murder of clive francis. family members say before the incident, lewis had been acting erratically. she is facing a murder charge. emily: 33 men have been charged in connection with a multi-million dollar sports betting operation in boston and on the south shore. among them, a former quincy police officer. john woodman of braintree has the network. woodman's chief lieutenants in the ring was frederick stevenson, who was a quincy officer until 2003. randy: severe storms tore through parts of california over the weekend. the national weather service confirming a tornado touched down in denair. it brought down trees, damaged homes and left hundreds of people in the dark. no one was hurt. emily: alabama's governor says he will not allow syrian refugees to relocate to his state. governor robert bentley says his decision comes in light of the terror attacks in paris on

friday. bentley says he will block any attempt to relocate syrian refugees to his state through the u.s. refugee admissions program. according to a press release from his office, there's been no credible intelligence of terror threats in alabama. five prisoners who've been held at guantanamo bay for more than 13 years are now in the united arab emirates. the men -- all from yemen -- were released and flown there saturday after u.s. authorities determined they no longer posed a threat. none of the men had been charged with a crime but had been detained as enemy combatants. with the release, there are now 107 prisoners still being held at guantanamo. randy: new numbers this morning showing that a record number of international students are coming to study here in the u.s. but the number of americans studying abroad is declining. data show international students here grew by 10 percent last year, the biggest single-year gain in more than 35 years. the u.s. department of state says it will open a new office encouraging more students to
