silence. mourning the victims of the deadly terror attacks in paris. that is the french president along with hundreds of others potentially thousands. we are learning new details overnight into this investigation. we will have that for you in just a moment. randy: first we get to cindy and the forecast here in new england this morning. cindy: good morning to you. we're starting out pretty quiet weatherwise around here. gorgeous skies right now. out in the worcester area, a nice pink sky. mainly clear as the sun is up officially at 6:36 this morning. it is chilly. kids will want a heavier jacket at the bus stop. lots of 0's at&t the bus stop getting off the bus mid 50's this afternoon. right now it is 34 bedford. 35 in nashua: you can see through northern worcester county, 20's and 30's. boston 48 and beverly 45 right along the coastline there are patchy clouds. temperatures running in the upper 30's and lower 40's on the cape as well. you can kind of see how these clouds are just kind of dropping from north to south across the area.

we are going to continue to see these clouds kind of thin out this morning. high pressure going to give us a good amount of sunshine here through the afternoon so it turns into a mostly sunny day. by lunchtime, we're in the mid 50's with a northwesterly wind 10-15 miles per hour looking for a high today of 56 in boston. upper 50's though lowell back through framingham. closer to 60 degrees there. mid 50's out through worcester county. about 54 worcester today. 55 in shrewsbury and south of town is is where we will be mildest. 59 brockton, bridgewater sneaking up to 61 though in taunton this afternoon and upper 50's on cape cod as well. look at this. back-door front comes in tonight. we're cooling it down into the 40's tomorrow so enjoy the 50's today. cooler weather moves in for tomorrow. let's get you out to the roadways this morning and see how we're doing out there. good morning, olessa. olessa: a live look at route 1 in saugus. that volume is start to go build as that rush hour picks up. let's check out the rest of your ride. delays on 24 out of brockton. route 3 from weymouth to braintree your ride on the

watching one accident here. left lane is closed 128 northbound on highland avenue. the pike eastbound still about 15, 495 to 128. and 9 south delays out of methuen down into wilmington and once again concord street to spot pond. schedule. randy. randy: thank you. a moment of violence is going on at this moment in paris. french police have been taking new action after the terror attacks on paris carrying out raids in several cities. just one of the big developments we're following this morning. "eyeopener"'s erika tarantal who is tracking new information as it comes in to us. erika: french officials have mastermind of the deadly assault was linked to other thwarted attacks. the french response very active on several fronts at this hour. overnight police carried out near 170 raids across france arresting 23 people, placing more than 100 under house arrest

the raids come hours after france launched what are described as massive air strikes on isis targets in syria. those strikes destroyed a jihadi training camp in raqqa where it's believed the attacks on paris were planned. we now know a number of the suspected bombers had known terror ties including one just identified who faced charge charge's in 2012. turkey saying it warned france about one of the men twice. >> they did not have enough people to follow all of the suspects on their list. erika: right now an international manhunt is still underway for this man, one of the attack suspects that escaped. police confirm officers actually stopped him near the belgium border early saturday but let him go. a page major police action is underway in brussels right now perhaps related to that. we'll bring you any new information as soon as we get it. emily: right now authorities are sounding the "all clear" after a security scare on a flight bound for boston. the american airlines flight from washington, d.c., to logan was evacuated before take-off. these two men were removed from the plane after the crew had concerns about suspicious

behavior. armed security teams swept the plane for bombs but found nothing. officials not taking any chances in the wake of friday's coordinated terror attacks in paris. >> we were totally happy because we knew the flight was safe. they checked it from top to bottom. >> all of our public safety teams are working diligently to keep people safe here in the commonwealth. emily: there are no credible threats against boston, but city and state officials have tightened security measures with additional law enforcement patrolling the city. that includes beefed-up security on the mbta and at sports events and concert venues. ahead in our next half hour, a massachusetts father on edge after his son is caught up in the terror in paris. and his concerns are not just for the young man's wounds. randy: five minutes after 6:00. right now the hunt for suspects is on after a break-in at a u.s. army reserve center. weapons stolen. the eye's sera congi is live in worcester with what we know at

sera: randy. this morning, the f.b.i. is on the case. and while they say there is no reason to believe terrorism is involved, they are clearly anxious to recover these guns. it happened overnight saturday at the lincoln stoddard army reserve center. "5 investigates" has learned thieves broke in through the roof and stole weapons from a building full of locked doors. no one will say exactly what weapons were taken. the timing of the theft so soon after the paris attacks certainly raised concerns. >> nothing at this point in time that would tie this to, you know, any specific threat or anything else at this point. sera: the f.b.i. tells us that the missing weapons have been entered into a national database in hopes of tracking them and recovering them quickly. investigation. live in worcester this morning, sera congi, wcvb, newscenter 5. randy: opening statements begin

teacher. phillip chism is charged with raping and murdering colleen ritzer at the high school two years ago. he was 14 at the time but is being tried as an adult. the trial was delayed for three weeks while chism underwent a psychological exam that determined he is competent to stand trial. emily: right now a key patriots player is out after this tough play. wide receiver julian edelman breaking his foot in last night's dramatic win over the new york giants. this morning, he'll undergo surgery. coach belichick's message to patriots fans about what that injury means for the team is ahead at 5:30 this morning. this is what fans were greeted with as they showed up to metlife stadium for the patriots extremely tight security in the wake of the paris terror no specific threat, but law enforcement was strategically placed with security now an even bigger priority for the nfl. canines in cars, troopers in bulletproof vests as tens of thousand poured into the stadium. ahead of the first round of football here in the states

holders were warned. the less you have, the quicker you get in. >> i got an email yesterday saying they were going to have to ramp up security, be prepared, come in earlier. they would be more cautious of the clear bags and what you have in the clear bags, that kind of thing. emily: a lot of new england fans making the trip for that game. everyone went home safe. randy: right now the cape cod community college campus in barnstable is on high alert after a written threat was found at the school. this morning's classes have been cancelled. the school will not open until the state police bomb squad and k-9 units have searched the campus and give the all-clear. newscenter 5 on the opioid crisis. governor charlie baker's opioid bill takes center stage at a public hearing this morning. the bill would restrict patients to a three-day supply of pain killers the first time they're prescribed an opioid drug. it also allowed doctors to commit patients involuntarily to a drug treatment facility for up to 72 hours if they're

the meeting is at 10:00 this morning at the state house. emily: a 19-year-old is seriously hurt after he was shot while sitting in a car in revere. it happened along american legion highway around 8:00 last night while the teen was with his father. police say several shots were fired into the vehicle. the teen was hit in the neck and is in stable condition. police are now looking for a black s.u.v. with tinted windows. it's 6:09 right now. cities and towns want more help fighting poverty. randy: the label they need to address the problem effectively. and a local man nearly lost his son to the attacks in paris. why he says he feels badly for the terrorists who shot his child. erika? erika: breaking overnight. police in france have carried out more than 170 raids across the country looking for the people behind friday's attacks. making a number of arrests. we want to take you live to paris right now. a moment of silence just held in honor of those killed.

wednesday below average temperatures. and then we bring some rainfall in here thursday into friday. and boy do we need it. look at these deficits since the first of the year. in boston we're closing in on nine inches now. in worcester we're closing in on eight. we could really use rainfall. high pressure dominating the next couple of days. we're goings to see this interruption with this back-door cold front that slides in this evening and sets the stage for that cooler weather starting tomorrow. also notice a little patch of some cloudiness here hugging the coastline especially from boston on north ward. so the temperatures up this way a little bit milder. places like lawrence and beverly running in the low to mid 40's. you get out of that deck of clouds and fall back into the 0's. fitchburg, nashua, notice 27 degrees in orange. 42 worcester. 48 in boston out the door. we're near freezing norwood, taunton and mostly running close to 40 degrees on cape cod. patchy clouds out there this morning. by 8:00 a.m. the temperature of about 44. by noontime sunshine. mid 50's. we will see the sunset about 4:22 today.

managing our high temperatures in the mid even a few upper 50's. knock on the door of 60 degrees down in taunton. it turns into a pretty nice afternoon. overnight though as those winds turn to the north colder air comes down. look at all the 20's by tomorrow morning. even near the freezing mark in boston. it is a cold start on tuesday. with a northerly wind, despite the sunshine, doesn't warm up much at all. even on into wednesday we're going to keep the sunshine around. the temperatures will be on the cooler side. so from 50's today we're only in the mid 40's tomorrow. near 50 on wednesday. then we focus our attention on into thursday. a system approaching from the west. it will warm up the temperatures ahead of it. back up near 60 on thursday. rain moves in in the afternoon. i think we're going to keep that rain on into friday as well especially the first half of the day but the potential is there for one to two inches of rain. we really do need it. look at those temperatures. 50's to near 60 through friday and then we will dry it out. but cool it down next weekend. back down into the 40's though for the parade on saturday.

it's a story you saw first on 5. the man's family says he's alive but not out of danger. arnaud meerseman, a french citizen, helped produce the concert at the hall where dozens were murdered friday night. his fath yann, who lives on martha's vineyard, tells newscenter 5 his son was shot through the chest. incredibly, he is expected to survive. his father admits he's not upset with the attackers. yann: these people are brain washed. they have a story in their head that makes sense to them. and i would be a lot more angry at the people who put that story in there. emily: meersseman is making plans to go to his son's bedside in paris. he hopes to arrive by thursday. randy: the paris tragedy having an impact on financial markets. at least a dozen mass' cities and towns are struggling with poverty and are trying to be named "gateway cities." there are currently 26 in the program across the state. framingham, waltham, and warren are among the cities looking for

emily: we are following breaking paris attacks. tracking new information as it erika: here's what we know right now. 170 terror raids were carried out across france overnight. that includes arrests in at least five french cities. 23 people taken into custody with more than 100 placed under house arrest and dozens of that came just hours after massive air strikes in syria. french planes hit targets in raqqa where it's believed friday's attacks were planned. the suspected master mind named as a belgian man turned isis fighter. and a moment of silence was just held across europe in memory of the 129 people killed. this video just in of course including in the heart of paris they held that moment of silence. we'll bring you new information as soon as we get it. randy: bostonians holding paris close knowing all too well the horror of a terror attack. hundreds attended a rally on boston common yesterday to stand in solidarity with the people of france.

songs, and holding signs. >> the american people are really super friends. it's really great for us to see that. randy: as part of the national days of mourning in france, the french consulate in boston is making a condolence book open to the public. it will eventually be sent to france. emily: right now, the death of a baby in new hampshire is being called suspicious. police say the 11-month-old was injured when he was taken from a home in alexandria on friday. an autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow. new this morning, west end residents will be leading a protest at boston city hall they're picketing a proposal that would redevelop the garden garage. residents say they're extremely disappointed in the city's dismissal of their concerns. they also wanted mayor walsh to consult community leaders about the project. randy: a key patriots player is out after this tough play. wide receiver julian edelman breaking his foot in last

new york giants. this morning, he'll undergo surgery. emily: the eye's todd kazakiewich is live at gillette stadium. todd, edelman could be back? todd: emily, randy, we're told this is not necessarily a season-ending injury. depending on how today's surgery goes, edelman could be healthy enough to return this season. the injury happened in the last play of the first quarter. edelman left the game but walking on his own. sportscenter 5 has learned he could make it back for the post-season. a big hit for the team on their undefeated streak, but coach bill belichick says they're ready for it. coach: we gotta do what we do. guys practice. we have to back up every position. every player has to be ready to go. we don't know what's going to happen in the game. todd: the pats went on to a dramatic finish. with seconds to go, stephen gostkowski knocked down a 56-yard field goal.

end of the week. randy: new hampshire police continue to search for the person who swiped a jar full of money that was supposed to go to seven-year-old in need. seven-year-old kira danser of keene has a neuromuscular disorder and motors around her neighborhood in a new power chair she got earlier this year. to help raise money for a van that can accommodate the chair, her mother set out a donation jar at the beaver street market where she works. but saturday a young woman grabbed the jar and ran. >> i was very upset obviously because it's morally just very wrong. how do you steal from, one, a child and how do you steal from a child with physical needs? randy: the missing jar will be replaced by a new one. this time it will be fixed to the counter top. vermont state police are investigating after a driver's window was shattered by a bullet on the highway. it happened saturday on i-89 in georgia, vermont. a 45-year-old woman says a bullet came through her passenger window. she wasn't hurt; neither were

front we're not getting out of the 40's tomorrow. below average on wednesday. so a little cooldown here coming for a couple of days through the middle of the week. starting out with 42 worcester. 48 boston. well. but you can see, too, the north and west you get out of that band of clouds. just 27 in orange. so definitely a cool start this morning. high temperatures this afternoon coming up to about 56 in boston. but notice taunton to marshfield near 60 this afternoon. we'll be running in the mid 50's back through the merrimack valley as well. overnight we're going to cool it down. likely going to be the coldest night of the week with lots of 20's in the suburbs even near the freezing mark in boston and tomorrow is a sunny day but again cooler. only in the mid 40's. sunshine continues on wednesday with temperatures coming up to around 50 degrees but we're dry through wednesday. then a little change late week tracking a system that is bringing snow to the rockies and likely going to bring severe weather from texas up to the plains. that system arrives later thursday. it's with us into friday. there will be impacts late in

they also just identified the master mind or the suspected mast he have of friday's terror siege as a belgian man connected to other thwarted attacks. a number of the suspected bombers now identified had known terror ties. france has launched a massive bombing campaign. meantime an international the suspected attackers who was stopped but mistakenly released. two men he was traveling with were arrested in belgium. we'll keep you updated. randy: hundreds have been gathered in paris at this hour. france now paying tribute to the victims killed in the ataks. french leaders requested a minute of silence at around noon today along, all over the continent in honor of the lives lost. trip at the g-20 summit in turkey today. world leaders at the event condemned the attacks in paris.

today to discuss the next steps against syria and the isis campaign. french president francois hollande skipped the summit to stay home in the aftermath of the attacks. sera: the f.b.i. is the army facility in worcester. officials say they do not believe this is linked to terrorism. the break-in happened saturday overnight at the lincoln stoddard army reserve center. thieves went through the facility's roof. no word on how many or what kind of weapons were stolen. those missing weapons have been entered into a national database so that officials can track them and potentially recover them quickly. live in worcester, sera congi, wcvb, newscenter 5. todd: patriots wide receiver julian edelman will undergo surgery today on his left foot. depending on how the surgery goes, he could be back this season. the injury happened on the final play of the first quarter. edelman walked off the field on

cancelled. the school will not open until the state police bomb squad and k-9 units have searched the campus and given it the all-clear. randy: a 19-year-old is seriously hurt after he was shot while sitting in a car in revere. it happened along american legion highway around 8:00 last night while the teen was with his father. police say several shots were the teen was hit in the neck and is in stable condition. black s.u.v. with tinted windows. we're told road rage is one theory investigators are considering. the woman accused of shooting her uncle to death in hyde park heads back to court today. yvonne lewis underwent a mental health evaluation following the murder of clive francis. family members say before the incident, lewis had been acting erratically. she is facing a murder charge. emily: 33 men have been charged in connection with a multi-million dollar sports betting operation in boston and on the south shore. among them, a former quincy police officer.

saturday after u.s. authorities determined they no longer posed a threat. none of the men had been charged with a crime but had been detained as enemy combatants. with the release, there are now 107 prisoners still being held at guantanamo. new numbers this morning showing that a record number of international students are coming to study here in the u.s. but the number of americans studying abroad is declining. data show international students here grew by 10 percent last year, the biggest single-year gain in more than 35 years. the u.s. department of state says it will open a new office encouraging more students to study abroad. emily: the jetblue terminal at logan airport is getting an upgrade. the airline is unveiling its first phase of those improvements in terminal c today. travelers can expect new interactive kiosk and updated flight information displays. the project is expected to be finished sometime next year. randy: a possible rematch could be in the works for one of fighting's biggest upsets.
