frank: it looks like a lot of shoveling. i don't think i ever really shovel. danielle: i won't think about that. no, it doesn't happen for me. we don't have to do any shoveling today. that's the good news. we will see rain associated with that same system. the colder side of the system though well up north into canada now bringing some snow for those folks up there and over the great lakes region. for us, the cold front is moving through at this point. we are seeing some showers push on through. there's an area of low pressure that has developed though off the carolina coast. we're going to watch that one very carefully because that will ride along the frontal boundary. as it does, it's going to bring steady, heavier rain later this afternoon and really into the evening and overnight is when it's going to ramp up. so right now this morning, we're starting out with a couple of showers on our doorstep especially along parts of the south coast of rhode island, the south shore. a couple of sprinkles probably moving through worcester county

6:15 am
fall down and we get cold enough air to work its way in, there could be wet snow flakes mixing on in although i don't happen. it will be a cold rain though. we're talking about an inch to two inches possibly along the cape and the islands. notice that sharp cut-off north and west of worcester not seeing much if anything at all. we do really need the rain though down near nine inches now for the year in boston. and right now we're starting out the morning in the 30's and 40's actually 48 now on nantucket. and as we go through the next 12 hours, say, on the cape and the islands, going to show you what's going to happen. we're going to see rain chances really start to ramp up through about lunchtime or so and into the evening. mid 50's though for high temperatures along the cape and the islands. even mid 50's in and around boston is what we're going to see today. it's a mild day on tap but then tonight the temperatures really drop back. look at these overnight lows in the 20's and 30's and tomorrow we are going to struggle to really make it to near 40 degrees in spots.
