minutes. good morning. i'm randy price. emily: and i'm emily riemer along with cindy fitzgibbon. cold start to the day. potentially colder tonight. cindy: it will be cold at gillette. wind chills in the teens. you really need to dress for it. considering how warm it's been lately, it will feel colder. we did have the lingering areas of rain here through the overnight hours. these are the last of the rain drops exiting around plymouth and provincetown. you can see how we are drying it out off to the west. in fact, clearing skies. you can see the back edge of the clouds here back through worcester county. this is making steady progress on toward the east so clouds imraiking apart rapidly. all the while tracking snow from banger up to presque isle, maine. this is all associated with our storm that continues to pull away. as it does, winds are going to be increasing as the skies clear out. it's going to pull down chillier air. you can see the winds right now out of the northwest sustained about 15, even over 20 miles per hour on the cape. blustery feel overall today.

look at these temperatures hovering right near the freezing mark orange to worcester. 39 boston right now. still lower 40's on the cape. notice over the next 12 hours temperatures don't change a lot. we actually see the skies clear out by about 7:00 or 8:00 this morning and sunshine, upper 0's to around 40 degrees the west we do today. keep in mind though that wind out of the northwest at 20 miles an hour will make it feel today like it's in the 20's most of the day. these e the wind chills through the afternoon. do bundle up as you're heading out this morning. let's get you out to the roads right now. they are drying out after that rain from yesterday. olessa, good tonger. olessa: yes. it's a pretty quiet start. a live look outside at the pike in allston/brighton looks good in both directions. let's check the rest of the ride. one accident northbound 93 near spot pond pond. the pike looks okay. route 9 no concerns just yet. just cleared a disabled vehicle 93 northbound by 95. not looking at a whole lot of construction this morning. the trains and the buses are starting the morning on

randy: breaking overnight tragedy strikes an animal shelter as fire rips through the building forcing desperate rescue attempts. this morning, we know firefighters had a tough battle on their hands. emily: the eyeopener's erika tarantal is tracking information as it comes in. erika: such a hard time because when they got there, flames had already engulfed the building. this was the scene overnight at the sweet pea friends of rutland animals shelter in paxton. firefighters and volunteers were able to rescue five dogs from the building. but seven more were killed along with thirty cats. inside the building volunteers did all they could to help the animals. paxton's fire chief tells us when they saw the flames they knew this would be rough. >> we didn't think we were going to save any of the animals. that was our first goal to do just that.

we were just trying to get to the dogs if we could. erika: the pleasant street facility is a non-profit rescue operation. sweet pea quickly put the call for help out on their facebook page prompting people from all over to rush to the scene with supplies. this morning, it's not clear how we'll bring you more as we get it. emily? hamilton girl is out of the hospital after she was found her former babysitter facing the eye's todd kazakiewich is live in newburyport where the woman goes before a judge today. 21-year-old abigail hanna of topsfield is charged with abduction and assault after her arrest on saturday. two-year-old lyndon albers is safe at home with her parents this morning. the toddler spent two days at boston children's hospital after she was found along a rural road in rowley, naked, and her head shaved. police say hanna broke into the family's home in hamilton to kidnap the girl. a couple found the toddler in a pile of leaves while on their way to work, about eight miles away from the girl's home. hanna was arrested saturday morning after police searched her topsfield home.

she will be here in newburyport and we're expecting to learn more about the case. the big question is the motive. why did this happen? today here at court. as for the family of the two-year-old girl, no comment from them so far. reporting live in newburyport, todd kazakiewich, wcvb, newscenter 5. randy: todd, thank you. 5 after 5:00. this morning the patriots are kick off another critical game as they try to stay unbeaten. night football, you know all eyes are on foxborough. the eyeopener's sera congi is on the field at gillette stadium to set the stage. sera: tonight it's rex ryan and the buffalo bills on this field in the monday night spotlight. and the glare has been harsh for the pats in the past. you no doubt remember their most recent appearance on monday night football. it was last september and a bruising 41-14 loss to kansas city. some declaring that night that they were past their prime, that tom brady was done. another super bowl ring proved that wrong.

threatened him with a baseball bat. it happened yesterday at the east walpole package store. you can see the man walk in with an object he claimed could be deadly. zoomed in you still can't see what it is. but the clerk thinks it was a screwdriver with a red tip or blood on it. a man wanted for the paris terror attacks is still on the run despite a series of raids in belgium. 16 people were arrested in the police operation yesterday. but abdeslam salah was not among them. right now brussels is on its highest state of alert. subways and schools there are closed today. emily: the boston fire captain who rushed to the hospital after getting trapped in a building in hyde park says he didn't think he was going to survive. captain paul carey posted on facebook last night that he was searching for children believed to be trapped inside when he got in trouble himself. he thanks his fellow firefighters for saving him. the cause of that fire on greenwood avenue saturday night is still under investigation.

>> here we go. >> good morning, "eyeopener." randy: a huge thank you to everyone who came out this weekend for america's hometown thanksgiving in plymouth. we estimated about 100,000 lined the streets giving the "eyeopener" team a very warm welcome. emily: we are certainly riding in style as well. there we are on our float they made just for us. so many great people there. great signs. they had a sign for cindy. i thought, really? are you guys watching the "eyeopener"? randy: people gave us cards. just wonderful. emily: really kind.

olessa: you took your scarf off and your jacket off at one point. cindy: i did. it was warm, a little windy. lady. cindy: we lucked out. we had the rain thursday night and friday morning and then rain yesterday. it was nice to see the sun and the parade on saturday. speaking of rain, more than an inch of rain came through late yesterday into the night. that rain though is moving out. skies are going to be clearing out. start to the week. you're going to notice that chill throughout the day. but it looks dry here. right through the week. for any holiday travel plans you have in the northeast, a little bit of a warming trend coming in by thanksgiving. there are the last of the rain drops exiting out through plymouth harbor. shore. as you go to the north, that snow from banger, maine, up to presque isle and the areas in blue, that snow has actually accumulated a little bit. got this picture from poland spring, maine, which is little west of that area. you can see just a little

coating of snow there on the pumpkin. thanks to mike for sending that picture on in. you can see in terms of accumulation, maybe one to three inches up this way through parts of eastern maine. not a big deal but just a happen. our storm is strengthening as it pulls away but at the same time high pressure is nosing in. the skies are clearing out but the winds will be strengthening out of the north. that is pulling down colder air to our north right now teens and 20's. even though we're sitting at 39 degrees in boston, that wind is going to pull down colder air. you can see the winds already gusting over 20, even 30 miles per hour on the cape. already kind of a blustery feel out the door. we're sitting at 39 in boston. still low 40's on the cape. 38 beverly. worcester is 33 degrees right now but look at your 12-hour forecast. notice the temperatures hold pretty steady this morning as the skies clear out. and then through the afternoon, mid to upper 30's. that's high temperatures today north and west of boston. with that wind blowing, it will feel cooler than that. we should top out right around 40 in town with lower 40's from

marshfield down to the cape. if you're headed to gillette tonight, bundle up for that game. 8:0 is the first kick-off here. 29 degrees. looks like that wind will make it feel like it's in the teens for the wind chills. clear skies. down in the 20's. coldest suburbs will be running in the teens. notice tomorrow it's a pretty temperatures. we'll top out in the lower 40's but less wind will make it for a pretty nice day. looks quiet. dry weather here in the east if you're doing any traveling here for the big holiday week. you can seattle bit of rain in the nation's mid section with some snow in the rockies and that system will make its way eastward slowly. we'll warm up out ahead of it thanksgiving into black friday. looks like temperatures in the 50's to around 60 degrees and then that system comes through showers. behind it of course we'll cool down. pretty nice weather overall. olessa: we have nice weather this travel week. cindy: quiet in the east. olessa: there's a live look at the expressway. this is by the south bay mall. northbound side head to go bottom of the screen.

let's get over to the maps. we're watching one problem spot northbound side of 93. it is northbound so it shouldn't impact your commute too much. this is by spot pond. an accident in the process of clearing. no construction to contend with right now. the pike looks good. route 9 nice and quiet this morning. if you're heading south of town clear away a disabled car that was blocking a lane. 93 north by 95. expressway is wide open. trains and buses starting the morning on schedule. main items on the agenda at today's mbta meeting. lawmakers can't agree whether a 2013 law should have capped fare increases at 5 or 10 percent. under that law, the next fare hike can't happened until july 2016. the meeting will also touch on service planning and advertising policy. the "t" has a projected $242 million fiscal deficit for 2017. randy: it's 5:17. pfizer is expected to announce a major merger today. the drugmaker has reached a $150 billion deal with allergan, the

maker of botox. allergan is headquartered in ireland. that could help the combined company lose its u.s. corporate citizenship and lower its tax bill. asian stocks mostly rose today following strong gains on wall street last week. u.s. stock futures are up after all three indices rose on friday with the dow gaining 91 points. investors are expecting the fed to raise interest rates next month. emily: new this morning. tis' nearly the season to shop with black friday just days away. parents looking for gifts that offer fun and learning need to look no further. erika's back with some top picks from experts-- moms. erika: we got the inside scoop from the group "big city moms." one of their members just got back from a national toy convention to test the latest and greatest in educational toys. >> you step in a toy store and you see hundreds of items. erika: lauren jimeson from "big city moms" says to overwhelmed parents everywhere these could simplify your holiday season. bryce here, our non-scientific control to make sure they're kid approved.

look to north. this is a reminder it's late november. it's snowing right now banger up to presque isle, maine. that system pulling out pretty quickly. here's the thing. as this pulls out and high pressure noses in, yes, it will clear out our skies but the winds are going to be increasing so take a look at the sustained winds right now. close to 15 miles per hour in boston. we're sustained over 20 on the cape. we're gusting higher. that wind is pulling down colder air. so you can see it's around freezing orange to worcester right now. there's our 39 in boston. still lower 40's on the cape but notice throughout the day temperatures go nowhere. by noontime it's near 40 with bright sunshine. that wind is making it feel colder. sun sets at 4:16 with a temperature of 37 degrees. here are your highs today. mid to upper 30's north and west of town. the cape. when you factor in that wind, this is what you want to descres for. these are the wind chills throughout the day. notice it will feel like it's in the upper 20's all day long so let's get you out to the road. at least we're drying the roads olessa.

shaved. emily: new overnight. french president francois minister david cameron are meeting in paris. where many were killed in the paris attacks. cameron says he will ask parliament for approval this week to join the growing airstrike campaign against isis. right now, patriots nation is getting ready for a monday night randy: and that will include heightened security at gillette stadium. congi is live on the fieldwith what fans can expect. sera: there are no threats against the game. but with recent terror attacks overseas, the nfl and law enforcement will have their eyes wide open when it comes to safety tonight. the f.b.i. along with state and foxborough police will be posted both inside and outside the stadium. this is the pats first home game since the attacks in paris that put an increased focus on security nationwide.

it happened on north main street last night. our partners at "the brockton enterprise" say a driver found the older girl lying in the street with a head injury. that witness says she was then run over by another car after he went to get help. that second car stayed at the scene. the nine-year-old suffered minor injuries, but it's unclear when she was hurt. a mattapan man accused of masterminding a catfish robbery scheme is due in court today. police say 30-year-old rakeem austin used fake online dating profiles to lure people to addresses in mattapan and roxbury. the unsuspecting online daters were allegedly robbed at gunpoint. police say at least eight people have been victimized since october, and there could be more victims. emily: governor charlie baker is hoping to get some answers this week from federal officials regarding the vetting process for syrian refugees. last week, he said he was not interested in having refugees come here in wake of the paris attacks. but he did not sign a letter with other governors asking president obama to suspend that

sneel good morning. welcome back to the "eyeopener." watching a few problem spots early this morning. if you're heading south of town expressway northbound by furnace brook there's an accident blocking a lanement beyond that the ride is pretty quiet. 10 minutes braintree to boston and still clearing an accident on 93 north by spot pond. cindy, it is cold out there. cindy: yes, but the skies are clearing. you can see that happening right now out in the worcester area. that clearing line will make to it the coastline as the rain moves out. it will be a bright monday. kind of a blustery one with gusty winds, high temperatures holding near 40 degrees.

and foxborough. emily: and erika is here with the latest on the breaking news out of paxton. but first check out the scene in janesville, wisconsin. i don't even want to look at this. randy: it is making you sick. emily: literally. they got their first snowfall this weekend. some people got more than a foot, which was much more than they were expecting. seeing that person shovel, i'm thinking, no, no. randy: we had a little rain overnight in spots. cindy: last year at this time we were getting our first little taste of it. year. we of course had rain from that same system. it did end as a little touch of snow over the state of maine. twitter. this is his deck. right? just a little dust ing there on the pumpkin but parts of eastern maine you can see getting a little bit more up over an inch, maybe a couple especially in the higher he elevations so a little snow from that system. you can see how everything is pulling away. we of course had the rain.

flames had already engulfed the building by the time firefighters arrived so sadly there was little they could do for the animals. they, along with volunteers who rushed to the shelter help, were able to save five dogs but seven were killed along with 30 cats. on social media overnight shelter staff pleaded for veterinarians to come help. they also put out a plea for donated supplies, simple things like paper towels, canned dog food, or gift cards to pet stores. the pleasant street shelter is a non-profit, no-kill rescue group. it's not clear how the fire started. todd, out to you. todd: erika, thank you. a baby-sitter will be in court today charged with assaulting and abducting a two-year-old girl from hamilton. and this morning we're hearing from that family. you'll hear their statement in just a moment. the background on this story. two-year-old lyndon albers out of the hospital-a back at home this morning. she was found friday morning along a rural road in rowley, naked and with her head shaved.

here in southeastern massachusetts and on the cape. up over an inch in a lot of spots. that rain now is gone. we are seeing the clouds hovering mostly across eastern most massachusetts right now. that clearing is moving eastward pretty quickly from west to east. high pressure nosing in. it will give us a lot of sunshine the next couple of days. as this high gets closer to the strengthening storm even though it's pulling away, it will allow the winds to strengthen so already this morning, we're seeing gusts over 20 miles per hour in worcester. we're gusting over 30 on nantucket. and that wind is pulling down some colder air so definitely a blustery feel to the day. 33 right now in worcester. we're 39 in boston. we do have some lower 40 ons the cape. but throughout the day, look quhaps to the temperatures. they don't go anywhere. we may lose a couple of degrees this morning and hold close to that 40-degree mark this lots of sunshine. all the while that northwesterly wind 12-20 miles per hour will make it feel colder. mid to upper 30's the best we do north and west of town. right around 40 in the city. holding temperatures in the
