bundle up. cindy: take a hand warmer. toe warmers. randy: every kind of warmer. cindy: lots of layers. bundle up, yeah, it will be a chilly one down at gillette. not bad this morning. you see what's happening. we're clearing out the skies in the wake of the damp sunday we have. the last of the showers off shore east of the cape. snow up through parts of maine this morning. this storm is getting out of our hair. high pressure is nosing in but in between the winds are going to be strengthening. it's really going to give us a blustery feel throughout the day. already we're seeing the winds sustained at about 10-20 miles per hour. we are seeing gusts over 30 miles per hour on cape cod. that wind is just pulling down some cold air from canada. so we're below freezing now worcester orange on up to keene.

mid 0's lawrence to beverly. boston is 38. we do have lower 40 ons the cape but throughout the day, even though the sun is going to be out with clearing skies through about 8:00 this morning, all day long the temperatures don't really go anywhere. we're right around 40 at noontime. that's our high in boston. north and west of town, mid 0's in worcester. we'll hold in the lower 40's on cape cod but that wind out of the northwest 10-20 gusting higher. it's going to make it feel like it's the 20's all day long. wind chills hovering close to 30 today. let's get you out to the roads. good morning. olessa: good morning, everyone. a live look at route 1 in saugus. you can see the southbound side building that rush-hour volume. 24 slow out of brockton. delays on route 3 into the braintree split. once you get there about 15 minutes from braintree to boston on the expressway. pike still looks good this morning and then route 3 southbound near route 40 still clearing that accident. one lane is blocked. 93 south heavy out of methuen

trains and buses still doing okay. randy: breaking overnight. tragedy strikes an animal shelter as fire rips through the building forcing desperate rescue attempts. this morning, we know firefighters had a tough battle on their hands. emily: the eyeopener's erika tarantal is tracking information as it comes in. erika: a difficult fight for those firefighters because when they got there, flames had already engulfed the building. this was the scene overnight at the sweet pea friends of rutland animals shelter in paxton. firefighters and volunteers were able to rescue five dogs from the building. but seven more were killed along with thirty cats. inside the building volunteers did all they could to help the animals. paxton's fire chief tells us when they saw the flames they knew this would be rough. chief: we didn't any they were going to save any of the animals. that was our first goal, to do that. we were just trying to get to the dogs, if we could. erika: the pleasant street facility is a non-profit rescue operation. sweet pea quickly put the call for help out on their facebook page prompting people from all

supplies. this morning, it's not clear how the fire started. we'll bring you more as we get it. emily? emily: also breaking right now we're hearing from the family of a toddler kidnapped and dumped by the side of the road for the first time. the "eyeopener"'s todd kazakiewich live in newburyport where that suspect in the case is about to go before a judge, todd. randy: the baby-sitter is 21-year-old abigail hanna of topsfield charged with abduction and assault following her arrest on saturday. and just a short time ago, the family of two-year-old lyndon albers released this statement about what they are calling a horrific ordeal. here's what they said. "we are grateful to have our daughter back. we are extremely thankful for the incredible efforts to rescue our daughter by the police and all emergency responders. we are extremely grateful to the kind couple who found our daughter. "the toddler spent two days at

found along a rural road in recally naked and with her head safed. police say hanna broke into the family's home in hamilton to kidnap the girl. a couple found the toddler in a pile of leaves while on their way to work, about eight miles away from the girl's home. hanna was arrested saturday morning after police searched her topsfield home. she will be arraigned later this morning here at newburyport district court. of course, we're waiting to hear more about this case. we're want to go hear what the motive was, why this happened. we hope to get that answer later today. recording live at newburyport, todd kazakiewich, wcvb, newscenter 5. randy: thank you, todd. 5 after 6:00. this morning the patriots are counting down getting ready to kick off another critical game as they try to stay unbeaten. and when you're talking monday night football, you know all eyes are on foxborough. the eyeopener's sera congi is on the field at gillette stadium to set the stage. sera: tonight it's rex ryan and the buffalo bills on this field in the monday night spotlight. and the glare has been harsh for

the pats in the past. you no doubt remember their most recent appearance on monday night football. it was last september and a bruising 41-14 loss to kansas city. some declaring that night that they were past their prime, that tom brady was done. another super bowl ring proved that wrong. as for tonight, coach belichick tells our mike lynch one thing they'll be watching is the thermometer. coach: if it's cold, the ball definitely isn't going to travel as far. no question about that. mike: we're not talking green bay, the ice bowl or anything like that, but it's the first cold-weather game. coach: look, any drop in temperature we all know how that affects the ball and how it affects the distance on the ball. that will be part of it. the wind conditions as the season goes on. sera: of course, in true belichick fashion, he was quick to tell lynchie that every game is important. monday or not. kick-off is at 8:30 tonight. live from gillette this morning, sera congi, wcvb, newscenter 5.

she was found unconscious with a pillow over her head and died from her injuries saturday. without bail and will be arraigned tomorrow. randy: right now walpole police are looking for this would-be thief. officers say he threatened to infect a clerk with h.i.v. unless he gave him money. but he took off when the clerk threatened him with a baseball bat. it happened yesterday at the east walpole package store. you can see the man walk in with an object he claimed could be deadly. zoomed in, you still can't see what it is. but the clerk thinks it was a screwdriver with a red tip or blood on it. a man wanted for the paris terror attacks is still on the run despite a series of raids in belgium. 16 people were arrested in the police operation yesterday. but abdeslam salah was not among them. right now brussels is on its highest state of alert.

randy: here we go. >> good morning, "eyeopener." randy: a huge thank you to everyone who came out this weekend for america's hometown thanksgiving in plymouth. they estimated about 100,000, probably the biggest crowd ever lining the streets giving the "eyeopener" team a is very warm welcome. we really appreciate that. emily: the parade was great. so many great participants. we, of course, riding in style there waving to everyone. the crowd seemed bigger and better than ever. you know, the weather was just absolutely spectacular. cindy: a couple of people were going around in shorts. emily: were you one. cindy: no. randy: great signs along the way. by the way you can see everything on our slide central at wcvb.com. thanks for the people who gave

emily: very nice people out there. cindy: wonderful to meet everyone. how great did we luck out with the weather? we had the rain thursday night into friday morning and more downpours later yesterday until last night. look at all the rain on the cape. mashpee over an inch. beneficial rain in southeastern massachusetts. now we're just waiting for the clouds to clear out in boston. the sun is up at about 6:40 this morning. and it going to be a bright but a blustery start to the week. it does look dry for any travel plans that you have the next few days. we're going to get into a warping trend by thanksgiving. it is chilly out there this morning. you can see that clearing moving rapidly now from west to east so it's close inning on the coastline the last of the rain drops here off shore now. look at this. up over the state of maine you see this. down from banger up to presque isle shrinking away now. that is is snow that fell through the overnight in parts of maine. this is what it looked like in poland spring. got this picture from mike on twitter. you can see just a little coating of snow on the pumpkin in the background. brush it away.

a sign of what could be to come around here. you can see they had up to three inches of snow expected here through parts of northern maine but this storm is now moving out. high pressure nosing in. that's why the clearing skies but as this storm strengthens it's actually increasing the wind field. that wind is is coming out of the north and northwest. look at the temperatures up this way. colder than they are here. so even though the sun is going to be popping out this morning, this wind is making it feel colder. we're already gusting over 20 and 30 miles per hour. if you're stepping out this morning, you're noticing that wind. we're below freezing from worcester to orange. just 28 in keene. 38 now in boston. and some lower 40 ons the cape. but as we go throughout the day notice the temperatures don't change a whole on lot. these are what sit going to look like this afternoon. around 40 boston. mid and upper 30's north and west of town. we'll stay in the lower 40's on cape cod. long. this is from plymouth. you want to dress for wind chills which hold in the 20's to near 30 degrees all day long. so, yeah, that's why i say a blustery one. down at gillette temperature by 8:0 around 29.

braintree. expressway 20-25 braintree to boston. if you're traveling the pike this morning, still only about 15, 495 to 128. 93 southbound looks heavy out of me theub. we're also watching a crash by route 40 on route 3 south and more volume on 93 approaching spot pond. trains and buses running on schedule. emily: thank you. fare policy is one of the main items on the agenda at today's mbta meeting. lawmakers can't agree whether a 2013 law should have capped fare increases at 5 or 10 percent. under that law, the next fare hike can't happened until july 2016. the meeting will also touch on service planning and advertising policy. the "t" has a projected $242 million fiscal deficit for 2017. randy: pfizer is expected to announce a major merger today. the drugmaker has reached a $150 billion deal with allergan, the maker of botox. allergan is headquartered in ireland. that could help the combined citizenship and lower its tax

morning. it won't get much warmer than it is right now. cindy: blustery day. chills. 20's. that's what it will feel like. kids will want a heavy jacket in the bus stop. in the 30's at the bus stop this morning. only right around 40 degrees this afternoon with the wind kicking up under the sunshine as they're getting off the bus this afternoon. the door. it feels like 21 in worcester and 29 in boston. even though the temperatures themselves are running in the 38 boston. lower 40's now on the cape. you can see we still have some cloud cover over the city right now. but just to the west, the skies are clearing out. look how quickly that clearing coastline. we are drying it out this morning, brightening up our skies. as this storm pulls out high pressure nosing in. gusty winds will be with us all day long. sustained. 15 over 20 miles per hour down on the cape and nantucket. these winds will be with us all day long. it will feel blustery throughout the day. notice the temperature by noontime right around 40 degrees

shelter in paxton. firefighters and volunteers were able to save five dogs from sweetpea friends of rutland animals facility. no word yet on how the fire started. we'll bring you new information as we get it. randy: also breaking right now. the family of this hamilton toddler just releasing their first statement thanking first responders and the couple who found the little girl by the side of the road on friday. two-year-old lyndon albers' parents calling the ordeal "horrific." that comes as the babysitter accused of abducting, injuring, and dumping a hamilton toddler by the side of the road will face a judge today. 21-year-old abigail hanna is charged with abduction and assault. emily: new overnight. french president francois hollande and british prime minister david cameron are meeting in paris. they visited the concert venue where many were killed in the paris attacks. cameron says he will ask parliament for approval this week to join the growing airstrike campaign against isis. right now, patriots nation is getting ready for a monday night showdown. randy: and that will include heightened security at gillette

stadium. emily: the eyeopener's sera congi is live on the field with what fans can expect. sera: there are no threats against the game. or here at the stadium tonight. but with recent terror attacks overseas, the nfl and law enforcement will have their eyes wide open when it comes to safety tonight. the f.b.i. along with state and foxborough police will be posted both inside and outside the stadium. this is the pats first home game since the attacks in paris that put an increased focus on security nationwide. fans might not notice a difference, but it will be there. and a reminder the nfl bag policy will be strictly enforced. only clear bags will be allowed into the game. and the mbta says that will apply to the patriots commuter rail train as well. again, there are no direct threats here for the game tonight. but, of course, they're not taking any chances.

last week, he said he was not interested in having refugees come here in the wake of the paris attacks. but he did not sign a letter with other governors asking president obama to suspend that process. the governor says he just wants to learn more about how the process works. randy: new this morning, it's been three months since the f.b.i. released new surveillance video hoping to crack one of boston's biggest unsolved mysteries. the clip has been bringing in plenty of tips, but investigators say no leads. this video taken outside the isabelle stewart gardner museum the night before thieves took off with half a billion dollars worth of artwork. they say the investigation is active and ongoing. emily: burlington police nab nine men in a prostitution sting. randy: the setup leading to the arrests. this was billed as a legitimate government business trip. "5 investigates" what looks like a paid vacation full of wine, food, and entertainment. and who's picking up the tab?

randy: good morning. the "eyeopener" team ready with your news to go. we're in newburyport this morning and in foxborough. emily: and erika is here with the latest on the breaking news out of paxton. but first check out the scene in janesville, wisconsin. they got their first snowfall this weekend. some people got more than a foot, which was much more than they were expecting. i just-- i'm not ready.

randy: i have friends in that area. they've been talking on facebook about it. they're not into it. cindy: and the chicago area as well. a big storm early in the season. you know, it can happen this time of year. we of course had rain from that system yesterday. but in parts of maine it ended as snow. this picture got sent in from poland spring, maine. you can see just a little bit of snow on the pumpkin there. certainly not a lotment but parts of downeast maine and out through the northern part of the state picking up 1-3 inches of rain. close to four around presque isle maine. clearly it can snow this time of year. cloud cover is still lingering in boston. just to the west of the city you can see how the skies are clearing out. clouds on the south shore and the cape. you can see we're going to be clearing out this storm moves eastward and high pressure noses in. yes, that will clear out our skies but this storm is is still strengthening so the winds are still increasing. the winds right now gusting over 20 miles per hour, pulling down this colder air from the north. so the temperature s are going nowhere today. we're starting out below freezing in worcester county. 38 boston.

we have lower 40's on the cape. temperatures hold pretty steady through lunchtime as we come up to near 40 degrees under the sunshine. 12-20. going to hold the wind chills will be chilly. wind chills down at gillette tonight in the teens but the temperatures by 8:30 of 29 degrees under clear skies. so cold but quiet. that's the story here the next couple of days with high pressure nosing on in. temperatures come up a little bit tomorrow. low 40's but with less wind it feels nicer. notice dry weather here through that big travel day on wednesday. speaking of traveling, how are we looking out there, olessa. olessa: lots of delays and a couple of incidents a well. a live look at 93 in somerville. southbound side. slow ride. the rest of your trip heavy if you're traveling south 24 you have those delays out of brockton northbound up to 93. also on route 3. a disabled car just cleared on 228. your trip on the expressway 0 minutes braintree to boston. eastbound on the pike 25-30. 495 out to 128 and then also watching an accident route 2 east by jackson road.

accident clearing on route 3 by route 40. so some delays out of chelmsford with that crash. 93 south heavy out of andover all the way down on 128. and then more volume to the leverett connector. trains and buses still on schedule. emily, randy. randy: breaking overnight, a deadly fire at a shelter in paxton. emily: the eye's erika tarantal is here with the desperate attempts to rescue dozens of animals trapped inside. erika: just a devastating scene overnight at the sweetpea friends of rutland animals shelter. flames had already engulfed the building by the time firefighters arrived so sadly there was little they could do for the animals. they, along with volunteers who rushed to the shelter help, were able to save five dogs but seven were killed along with 30 cats. one dog is in critical condition. we just learned that one cat did survive through social media this morning. through facebook shelter staff did put out a plea for donated supplies, simple things like dog

stores. the pleasant street shelter is a non-profit, no-kill rescue group. it's not clear how the fire started. todd, out to you. todd: thank you. new this morning, we are hearing for the first time from the family of that little girl who was abducted. they write in part we have grateful to have our daughter back. we are extremely thankful for the incredible efforts to rescue our daughter by the police and all emergency responders. we are extremely grateful to the kind couple who found our daughter. and their daughter is is two-year-old lyndon albers. she's out of the hospital and back home this morning. she was found friday morning along a rural road in rowley, naked and her head was shaved. police say the girl's former baby-sitter 21-year-old abigail hanna of topsfield broke into the family's home and took the toddler. hanna was arrested saturday morning and again she will be arraigned today here in newburyport. reporting live todd kazakiewich, wcvb, newscenter 5. sera: security will be extra tight tonight here at gillette

say what types of guns were found. but "5 investigates" has reported that handguns and assault rifles were taken from the armory. emily: a danvers police detective will be back on the stand today at the murder trial of a teenager accused of killing his teacher. philip chism is accused of raping and murdering colleen ritzer at the high school in 2013. last week, jurors saw hours of surveillance video that prosecutors say shows chism stalking ritzer. chism's lawyers plan an insanity defense. randy: police in portsmouth, new hampshire, are investigating a death at a hotel. 46-year-old laurel wightman was found dead saturday afternoon at the hampton inn at portwalk place. the medical examiner has called her death untimely but did not release any other details. emily: these are some of the nine suspected "johns" arrested in a prostitution sweep in burlington. for the operation, a female officer posted ads on a website. shakwaan simpkins-- one of the men you see here-- was charged with trafficking after police

say he met an undercover officer and attempted to recruit her to work for him. randy: an emotional goodbye for the sharon teen killed in a terror attack in israel. nearly a thousand mourners turned out for the funeral of ezra schwartz at temple sinai. the 18-year-old was killed while delivering food to soldiers in the west bank. emily: there's now a reward for information about the gunman who shot a medical student who tried to break up an armed robbery. you can see the medical student face to face with the gunman friday night in new orleans. he attempted to help a woman who was being robbed. that's when the suspect shot him in the stomach. the student is now fighting for his life in the hospital. right now walpole police are looking for this would-be thief. officers say he threatened to infect a clerk at the east walpole package store with h.i.v. unless he gave him money. the clerk says he thinks the man had a screwdriver with a red tip or blood on it. but he took off when the clerk threatened him with a baseball

so we are going to brighten it up today but that northwesterly wind is pulling down colder air so temperatures hold in the mid 30's out through the worcester hills. lower 40's on the cape. it's a bright, blustery day. the wind chills throughout the day, yeah, look at that. upper 20's to around 30 degrees for it. overnight under clear skies we're back down into the teens and 20's for overnight lows and tomorrow low to mid 40's. lots of sunshine but we're not going to have those strong winds that we have today so it will feel nicer. doing any traveling here on the day before thanksgiving on wednesday, across the country looks great. up and down the eastern seaboard. in the middle of the country there will be rain, snow through the rockies and northern plains. takes until saturday before that system gets here. out ahead of i, it turns milder for thanksgiving day. i just want to remind you if you're headed to gillette tonight, bundle up. clear, cold. if you're going to game make sure you have the layers or you could just stay inside all bundled up on your couch and watch it right here on channel 5.
