randy: 4:30 now. it's monday, november 30. i'm randy price. breaking news overnight on the eyeopener. a scare on the field for pats fans. the future in question for rob gronkowski. and the signs of hope this morning. an arsenal discovered in leicester. the hours-long manhunt for the suspect. and the charges he's facing today. emily: the murder trial resumes of killing his teacher. what we can expect after jurors spent a week away. randy: as we begin this day on the cold side, cindy. good morning. cindy: good morning to you. it is a little chilly outside this morning especially away from the coast. notice all the 20's showing up north and west of boston. 24 in worcester right now. boston down to the cape holding

at or above the 30-degree mark here. we do have a wind coming in off the water. that wind is actually going to be responsible for bringing in a little bit more cloud cover to the coastline today. you can see that kind of happening now as that wind is bringing in a little bit of moisture off the coast. can't even rule out a flurry or two especially from late this morning into early this afternoon. we've got high pressure sitting to our north. it's holding off this, this storm system off to the west. this will bring in rain later tomorrow and into the middle of the week but today mainly a dry daivment you can see those clouds hugging the coastline here. by lunchtime one or two little flurries may be found right along the coastline. otherwise it's a dry day for you. a fair amount of clouds on the coast. afternoon. the sun is up at 6:52. we're looking for high temperatures today struggling to hit above 40 degrees so it is a chilly start to the week. let's get you out to the roads. in for olessa this morning we brennan. downtown. we're looking pretty good. no real big troubles.

all work crews-- i don't think we had any work crews downtown. zakim bridge moving well southbound of the o'neill tunnel. looking good on that leverett connector as well as the tobin bridge heading inbound from chelsea. let's go on the maps. not too bad out here. we have did have a couple of work crews on the mass pike between the expressway and the allston/brighton tolls. never really slowed anybody down. also out by newton corner. further west though you're looking pretty good. 128 and beyond. south of town the expressway is wide open. 10 minutes braintree to boston. you're looking good on routes 3, 24, 95 as well as up to the north. some work crews 128 south though in the dedham stretch by route 1. emily, good morning. emily: kevin, good morning to thanks. breaking overnight. tight end rob gronkowski standing on his own before leaving the stadium in denver. randy: he was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter after this hit. and while the team's perfect record is now over, that play was the bigger concern for many fans.

live at gillette with what we know this morning. sera? sera: a big concern indeed, it seems that hit looked a lot worse than it really was. stadium in denver overnight without crutches or a limp. but he's still due to get an m.r.i. today, which is standard procedure. take another look at the play. there were two minutes and 49 seconds left in the fourth denver defensive back darian stewart. stewart seemed to collide with gronk's right knee while they were both in the air. gronk rolled around in pain before he was taken off the field, but again, new reports indicate it was not as bad as it seemed. that would be a relief for tom brady who doesn't want to lose another key player. brady: he's been through a lot. he's a tough guy. hopefully it's not too serious. we'll see. but all our fingers are crossed.

gronk himself did not talk to reporters after the game, but he did walk onto the team bus himself. no crutches. no limp. live in gillette this morning, sera congi, wcvb, newscenter 5. shorthanded because of four key injuries. receiver julian edelman and danny amendola are both out for now. running back dion lewis's season ended when he tore his a.c.l. and aaron dobson is on injured reserved because of an ankle injury. randy: other stories we're police are investigating the murder of a new bedford veteran's agent. 66-year-old donald depina was found shot in the parking lot of brooklawn park around 11:00 saturday night. the vietnam vet was later pronounced dead at the hospital. anyone with information is asked to come forward. is cancelling classes today because of an online threat. the school says the f.b.i. alerted it to the threat which mentions a shooting on the campus quad at 10:00 this morning.

told to stay inside. >> this is really a law enforcement officer's worst randy: an arsenal of weapons discovered in leicester. right now the suspected owner is just hours from facing a judge. our erika tarantal joins us with the intense manhunt it took to bring him in. erika? erika: randy, that's right. searching for the man who's accused of using unique ways to evade police. neighbors say this is the boat dean largesse stole early saturday morning as he tried to escape. the 32-year-old was wanted for a domestic violence incident in worcester. leicester police showed up at his home but largesse was already on the run. >> the neighbors said they heard in field. i'm assuming he went through field and came down this way and through the backyards and stole their boat and just rode away through the pond. erika: largesse was eventually police. officers say the stash in his apartment included a loaded ar-15 assault rifle with what

appeared to be blood on it, a handgun, a shotgun, and plenty of ammo. they say he didn't have a license for any of it. he's expected in court in east brookfield today. emily? emily: erika, thank you. the murder trial of philip chism resumes today for the first time since last monday. the eye's todd kazakiewich is live outside the courthouse with what to expect. todd? todd: emily, good morning. today jurors will hear more evidence in a trial that is already moving faster than expected. that trial was only in session one day last week due to the holiday. last monday, the jury saw the jeans chism was wearing while police say he killed danvers high school teacher colleen ritzer. surveillance video from inside the school showed those jeans appeared to have been covered in blood afterward. jurors also saw surveillance video, including images of chism at a movie theater just hours after he raped and murdered ritzer. prosecutors say he was using ritzer's credit card. chism's lawyers are planning an

insanity defense, but prosecutors say his use of that credit card might indicate otherwise. jury deliberations could begin as soon as december 11. reporting live in salem, todd kazakiewich, wcvb, newscenter 5. emily: the man accused in a deadly shooting at a planned parenthood in colorado heads to court today. that's as the family of a massachusetts native, killed in the attack, honors the victim's memory. officer garrett swasey, a melrose native, was one of three people killed in friday's shooting. jennifer markovsky and ke'arre stewart, an iraq war vet, were also killed. we're learning the alleged gunman, robert dear, kept mostly to himself, living in a remote trailer for the past year. police say he made hostile comments about planned parenthood during his arrest. friends of officer swasey say he died doing what was right. >> he would have gone into that clinic, you know, to serve those matter. emily: in a statement, swasey's wife rachel writes, "in the end, his last act was for the safety

a tribute to his life." randy: four more women have joined a defamation suit against bill cosby which heads to court in massachusetts today. the 2014 lawsuit claims the comedian defamed several women after they accused him of sexual assault. a judge has previously denied cosby's request to dismiss the suit. the case is being heard in springfield, near cosby's shelburne falls home. today's scheduled conference meeting takes place in worcester. remembrances for a local teenager killed in israel. emily: the special tribute to the sharon teen who was trying to help overseas. president obama continues his trip in paris this morning. the emotional visit he made. and the heightened security following the paris terror attacks. erika? erika: following breaking news overnight. patriots tight end rob gronkowski will undergo an m.r.i. today. gronk was carted off the field after a tough hit in the fourth quarter of last night's loss to the broncos. he was seen boarding the bus

emily: tears and prayers for a sharon teenager killed in israel while trying to help people. loved ones held a candlelight vigil last night in honor of ezra schwartz and others affected by recent attacks. the 18-year-old was shot and killed in a terror attack in israel earlier this month. he was delivering food to israeli soldiers. randy: new this morning. we're hearing from the family of a man shot and killed in the fenway on thanksgiving morning. jephthe chery was shot near the

bar "who's on first." he would have celebrated his 30th birthday on friday. instead, his family is planning his funeral. his mother telling the boston globe, quote, "no one can be like my friend. you may find someone, but no one will have the same heart like my son." chery will be laid to rest on saturday. emily: democratic candidate hillary clinton gets a key endorsement in boston. the rally held for the front-runner. and the challenges she faces in new hampshire. a decades-old beer found at the bottom of the ocean with alcohol still inside. what the diver now wants to do

emily: back on a monday here. cindy: yes, the last day of november. emily: i did know that but when you said it, whoa. randy: you know, it's amazing because we've had a great november. cindy: right now this is the fifth warmest on record. emily: i believe it. cindy: unfortunately we'll wrap things up on the chilly side. it may slide down that list a little bit. warm, yes. we're watching one system in the middle of the country right now. that will bring us some rain, not today. today is a dry day. it will be a chilly start to the week. today is the coldest day of the week. but as that rain comes in, we're going to warm the temperatures up later tuesday into wednesday. i think we have a few days at or above 50 degrees left around here, even in to the month of december so the temperature trend, i think, after today is on the milder side. starting out right now with readings in the 20's up through the north shore and back into worcester county where it's as chilly as 24 right now in worcester. notice boston though 30 degrees.

plymouth in the mid 30's. same deal on the cape. we have a wind that is very light but it's coming in off the water. and that flow off the ocean has done a couple things for us. it's brought in some clouds. you can see how they're sneaking on in with that northeastly wind. clouds are most dominant in southeastern massachusetts. it's not even out of the question that we get one or two ocean-effect flurries around here. overall, it's dry high pressure sitting to our north but it's that flow off the ocean that could induce a couple of flurries. you can see that here on future cast. through the morning hours, clouds are most prevalent along the coastline. you see that right there. future cast indicating there might be one or two of these little snow flurries around. that threat will continue into early this afternoon. then we'll tend to kind of dry things out all the while i think a fair amount of clouds with breaks of sunshine. we'll call it partly sunny. temperatures nudging barely to about 40 degrees in boston. and up through the merrimack valley as well only in the mid to upper 30's out through the worcester hills with lower 40's today on cape cod. tonight we fall back mainly into the 20's to around the freezing

mark in boston. and tomorrow notice how the temperatures come up. i think we'll be in the mid 40's, but the trade-off is a lot of cloud cover. we're going to watch this system approach. one area of low pressure brings in a slug of rain later tuesday. we'll see another round of rain coming in as we get into wednesday afternoon so a period of wet weather on the way here. we really do need the rain. i can break it down for you. i think tomorrow morning's commute really not going to be all that impacted. i think the rain will hold off until probably about midday into the afternoon. and it's lighter showers tuesday afternoon but overnight tuesday some heavier downpours possible. that is lingering into early wednesday morning and then a break. and another another round of showers lifts us into the afternoon. when all is said and done, we're talking about a widespread half an inch to inch of rainfall. the highest amounts could linger down towards the kiep. we'll clear things out on thursday. notice the temperatures are in the upper 40's. then it's a dry stretch as we head towards late this week and on into the upcoming weekend. let's get you out to the roads right now.

kevin: we're in great shape. a couple overnight work crews to deal with. they're already in the process of picking up. mass pike here eastbound heading in towards the allston/brighton tolls, you're wide open. right into the downtown stretch into and through that pru tunnel. let's go to the maps though. work crews picking up here westbound on the mass pike by newton corner. once you get beyond that, you're looking pretty good through natick and framingham both directions. north of town, no troubles here on 495 from haverill down past 93. 93 looks good coming out of southern new hampshire. salem right down through that methuen stretch. you're also looking good on routes 3 and 95 from new 128. 128 itself, that's wide open. take you about 17 minutes to get from route 1 lynnfield right down towards route 2, ongoing work crews there on 128 north by route 2 in the process of picking up randy. randy: devin, thank you. 12 before 5:00. president obama is in paris this morning to attend a u.n. last night, he made an unannounced visit to the sight of one of the terror attacks two

weeks ago. walking with french president francois hollande, president obama placed a single rose outside the bataclan concert hall where dozens were killed. just hours before the president's arrival, protestors clashed with police in paris. about 100 people were arrested at a rally for clean energy. france has been in a state of emergency since the terror attacks and large, public gatherings are not allowed. emily: commitment 2016. a boston rally for democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton. the frontrunner picking up a key endorsement and pitching a jobs plan. most supporters in the hall were labor union members. the event kicked off with an endorsement from boston mayor marty walsh. he says nobody comes close to the democratic front-runner's experience. clinton's speech centered on a plan to improve the country's infrastructure and providing opportunities for the middle class. clinton: i'm the only democratic candidate in this race who will

your taxes. >> it's a tough life making ends meet, but she wants to make it better for everybody. emily: as president, clinton said she would increase federal investment in infrastructure by $275 billion over the next five years. randy: a big endorsement for republican candidate chris christie. "the new hampshire union leader" newspaper named the new jersey governor its pick in the 2016 presidential race. the paper's publisher says they picked christie because of his experience and his ability to work across the political aisle. he'll be campaigning in new hampshire today along with republican hopeful marco rubio. economic headlines this morning. retailers are hoping to see a boost today from cyber monday after lower-than-expected black friday sales. in-store sales fell more than a billion dollars this friday from last year. meanwhile we spent $2.7 billion online. that's a big bump, up 14%. today, consumers are expected to shell out nearly $3 billion.

expand sales through the week. emily: new moves from amazon this holiday shopping season. the company has just revealed a new drone prototype as part of its prime air service. amazon says the unmanned devices, which can carry up to five pounds, will deliver packages in under 30 minutes. the drones seen here are not the final design, but the company says it's getting much closer. asian stocks fell today as investors look ahead to the u.s. federal reserve for signs of an interest rate hike. right now, dow futures are down on wall street. the index, losing almost 14 points at the close after disappointing black friday sales. taking a look at your trending stories on the eye. randy: lakers legend kobe bryant says his 20th nba season will be his last. the 37-year-old will retire at the end of this season. he made the announcement yesterday in a post on the players' tribute. he says his heart and mind can handle another year but his body can't. bryant has earned five nba titles, ranking third on the

career scoring list with more than 32,000 points. emily: kensington palace releases two new photos of prince william and kate middleton's youngest child, princess charlotte. the six-month old was photographed by her mom at the family's home in eastern england. this is the first time she's been seen since her christening in july. the palace posted the pictures to twitter yesterday. randy: a scuba diver finds a beer bottle from the 1800's with its brew still inside. the diver made the rare discovery last week on the sea floor near halifax, nova scotia. the beer with alexander keith's brewing symbol dates back between 1872 and 1890. that's nearly as old as canada. the brew is now being tested to see if it's still safe to drink. could be a little salty. emily: just a little bit. randy: a controversial hunt kicks off in massachusetts today. emily: why protesters are demanding that it stop. then new on the eyeopener at 5:00, watching your weight this

randy: 4:55. following breaking news in your early news to go. emily: a tough loss for the patriots and an injury could make it even worse. tight end rob gronkowski will have an m.r.i. today after this hit in the fourth quarter against the denver broncos last night. his right knee, which has already been injured, was hurt again. gronk did walk out of the stadium overnight without crutches or a limp.

randy: police are searching for this robber who threatened to convenience store. you can see the man rush into saturday heading right behind the counter. he got away with a cigar box police say the crook was last seen running away from the store down cypress ave. emily: a sharon man is in court this morning accused of holding a woman hostage. jamie mckeague was arrested after a standoff with police north main street. he stayed holed up for hours after the woman escaped his home. police closed the road and shut off the street lights. mckeague eventually surrendered without a fight. randy: a bus full of college students overturns in virginia. 35 people were hurt, one of them seriously, after the crash near richmond. the bus driver is now facing reckless driving charges after police say he lost control on a ramp curve causing the bus to tip. the bus was carrying 51 people at the time, most of them college students from u.v.a., virginia tech, and radford university.

emily: tomorrow, the mbta will begin its new ban on all political ads debating moral, religious, and social issues. the decision was made at a meeting last week focused on an ad in the red line's davis square station that angered members of the jewish community. the new policy is consistent with policies in the new york and chicago transit system. randy: a controversial deer hunt begins in the blue hills reservation today. there are road closures in place until 5:00 tonight for the controlled deer hunt, which some protesters are calling a massacre. organizers say it is necessary to control the over-population of deer in the area. only the hunters who have been approved for permits are allowed on the reservation. orlando against the magic. but they needed a little magic isaiah thomas led the c's with 20 points on the night, but that didn't help chip into orlando's lead. the celtics lose 110-91. they're in miami tonight to take on the heat. randy: christmas comes early on the boston common. santa claus made a grand entrance yesterday, trading his

helicopter. santa landed near the frog pond to meet with kids and spoke with them about staying safe during the holiday season. emily: i guess that makes sense. the reindeer resting so you need a new mode of transportation. cindy: i wonder which is faster. emily: i don't know. cindy: rudolph has that red nose which is helpful when there's fog, as we know. this is the last day of november. this month overall has been a mild one. we're running 4.5 degrees above normal. that places boston as the fifth warmest november on record. but today i think we're going to pull down that average a little bit because it will be kind of a chilly day. we're starting out right around 30 digs in boston this morning but the temperatures won't budge too much throughout the day. it will be a colder-than-average day. our average high now is right around 47. i think it will be a struggle to get to 40 degrees today. we're back to around average tomorrow. look at this. by wednesday above-average temperatures back into the 50's.

that warmth though is going to come in with this rain. there's a system right now in the middle of the country. it's been producing a lot of ice through the plains states. oklahoma over the weekend a lot of big problems there. you can see the snow, some of it over the denver area during that pailt rots game last night. this is all ejecting into the middle of the country. this will catch up to us through the middle. week. with those warmer temperatures we're talking about rain. i think it starts getted on tuesday afternoon. heaviest downpours come in overnight tuesday night. we'll see another round of rain come in on wednesday afternoon. event. today is a dry day. struggling to hit about 40 degrees. today though. you can see in the middle of the country there's that one storm system. we will deal with that later tuesday into wednesday. you can see how the temperatures come up behind it. on thursday it will be breezy. that winds could be active on thursday. even though it's in the upper 40's notice the winds will be hour.
