along with cindy. we see it marching this way. cindy: only part of what is coming. it will be a wet day. you want your umbrella this morning but fortunately not as chilly as it was yesterday morning and we notice we have the temperatures now running in the upper 30's to around 40 degrees. worcester into boston and upper 30's on the north shore but plymouth to the cape, mid 40's to 50 degrees so quite a difference depending on where you are this morning. wherever you are, you are seeing this white-gray coloring showing up indicating there is fog and it is reducing visibility a bit and a mile up but the area in the berkshires that will be working on in here as we get deeper in the morning hours, but behind that there is another area of rain to our south and this will work on in as we get towards lunchtime and in the afternoon. as we step you through the time line notice by 8:00 this morning, yes, there will be a few showers around but look how the steady rain fills in by lunchtime. your lunch hour today likely to

>> i know. i know. emily: a family demanding justice after a vietnam vet is gunned down and robbed. police in new bedford arresting two teenagers in his murder. police say donald depina was shot execution style saturday night after giving the pair a ride in his cab. police were able to track down the 18-year-old and 16-year-old with a video trail. the prosecutors say the 66-year-old vietnam vet gave them a ride to a local park even though they did not have enough money to cover the fare. his family, not surprised by his generosity. >> it's unbelievable what they did to him. the worst part is that they were trying to rob him, they could have just asked him for the money and he probably would have gave it to them. emily: depina's wallet was stolen after the murder and one of the suspect tried to use the credit cards at several local businesses. randy: a new challenge for deval patrick and the announcement comes less than 24

the shooting death of a chicago teenager at the hands of the police in that city. the eyeopener's erika tarantal with the job taking him to his hometown. erika: he has been tapped to advise a panel following the shooting of laquan mcdonald. he was killed last year but charges just brought against the officer accused of murder last night. patrick says, quote, i hope i can offer the mayor and his task force some guidance and feedback on the important work they now undertake. this morning, the illinois attorney general is calling on the u.s. justice department to review the entire chicago police force and chicago mayor rahm emanuel has fired the city's top cop garry mccarthy as for the officer charged in mcdonald's death, he's free on bail this morning. randy? randy: is the t ready for whatever this winter will bring? that will be the subject of a meeting this morning in boston. governor baker will be there and the focus will be on the

the 9/11 attacks. donald: you notice what's happening in new jersey, they're now saying a lot of people saying it did take place in new jersey, right? i wasn't going to apologize. emily: chris christie who recently won the endorsement of the region's largest newspaper said trump is just wrong. many voters told us last night trump won them over. the u.s. confirms it is sending more forces to the middle east to fight isis. defense secretary ash carter told congress yesterday a new force of special operations agents will deploy in the isis strong holds of iraq and syria. carter says the special opposite force will be special enough -- flexible enough to perform special igs missions and didn't specify how many would be sent but said there will be more than 50. randy: a judge will decide whether dzhokhar tsarnaev will get a new trial. the lawyer for tsarnaev made the argument in court and said there was no way a boston jury

to worcester county by 8:00 this morning and thereafter a steadier rain widespread by lunchtime. the lunch hour will be wet and light rain showers through the afternoon and will impact your evening commute and overnight see a slow, drying trend especially after midnight. temperatures are holding mostly in the 40's and the colder pockets far north and west will drop in the 30's and tomorrow we're staying in the 40's but tomorrow our winds shift to the west as our storm starts to pull away and will bring in drier air and some brightening in the afternoon but cold enough for lingering areas of snow far across northern new england before high pressure settles in on friday. ski country likely will see snow out of this and heaviest amounts more than six inches possible across far northern maine and getting snow in ski country. want to show you the winds. in the morning hours they'll be gusting perhaps close to 20 miles per hour but during the afternoon, look at the winds gusting to 30 miles per hour. a blustery feel tomorrow with

gronk suffering from a bad knee bruise as well as a knee sprain. the patriots take on the eagles this sunday here at gillette stadium. live in foxboro, this morning, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: thank you. troubling new numbers out of new hampshire this morning and the eye's erika tarantal is here with the end of your statistics with a month still to go. erika: the numbers are grim, new hampshire is expected to set a record for drug death this is year and have been 295 opiod related deaths in 2015. that number is expected to hit more than 350 by year's end. 183 of those overdoses involved fentanyl. there were 326 last year despite efforts to save lives with narcan training. this problem is growing. >> and the disturbing part is the amount of narcan we have to give these patients is increasing which means the

mixed with, if it's fentanyl, is becoming more pure. erika: there are 80 expected drug overdoses pending toxicology results. randy? randy: a wareham man is charged with driving drunk in this crash. mark giberson is accused of hitting a parked car and then a man standing in a parking lotto of onset avenue. the victim is at the boston hospital with serious injuries. giberson was arrested at the scene. wareham police tell us he was license. more charges are pending. emily: a man is suing a local catholic school saying he was denied employment because he's gay. matt barrett was hired to run the food services but when he filled out the paperwork the job offer was rescinded. >> you put husband down for your emergency contact. and i said well, that's what he is, he's my husband and they said oh, no, it's not contrary to the catholic teachings.

police chasing the man accused of copycatting the highway shootings in phoenix, arizona with a slingshot and say he was driving a stolen car during the crash when he did crash yesterday in mesa. he's expected to face several charges. a warning for drivers this dash cam video out of kentucky shows a deer running into the path of a police cruiser. police say the officer did the right thing, applying his brakes and steering away from the deer in a controlled manner. you see the deer does get back up and runs back into the woods. that officer was not hurt. randy: a kentucky woman says that a hair tie caused an infection on her wrist. audree kopp said she noticed a small, red lump on her wrist and thought it was a bug bite. she went to the hospital when it continued to get worse, she says doctors told her it was an infection caused by bacteria in her hair elastic. kopp wants to warn other women to be careful when keeping these hair elastics on your wrist. emily: the 76ers make history

anyway. cindy: we've had damp weather. the highest rain totals coming out of the cape where we've had a half inch of rain. worcester into boston, not even that. it's damp as it has been and we haven't seen too much rain and need it. our deficits in boston over 9 1/2 inches and 8 1/2 in worcester and we could use some more and we'll have another wet, damp day but by tomorrow morning we're looking at an additional half inch of rain if that. we're not talking about heavy rain but just gray out there and damp and fog as well with 39 degrees in boston. for the moment the wind are light and they're out of the west-northwest and will shift to the southwest and push the temperatures up. lots of 30's now from the pike on northward. mid to upper 40's plymouth down to the cape right now. the bulk of the showers around western massachusetts but these, they're moving eastward and will be filling in this morning and this is one area of showers and there's another area of rain down the coast and this will be working in our direction as well.

transitioned to a steady rain by noon time and we'll see areas of rain by 5:00 as well. the southwesterly wind will push our temperatures in the lower 50's today in southeastern massachusetts, north shore, merrimac valley and worcester staying in the boston this afternoon. you see those showers filling in this morning but notice the steady rain around lunchtime. light nowers off and on this afternoon into this evening but overnight we'll start to dry things out and will see the skies begin to clear out tomorrow. low temperatures in the 30's and 40's and tomorrow the storm is pulling away with colder air on the back side and we'll see more in the way of sun shine heading to friday. you'll notice the wind with temperatures in the upper 40's and a blustery feel. the winds could gust over 40 miles per hour. friday is looking at sunshine but it's a cooler start to the weekend as the jet stream will be to our south but look what happens on sunday. we'll get the pattern change again and talking about milder
