emily: good morning. i' m emily riemer. randy: breaking news -- two suspects are now identified in that deadly shooting rampage in california. the fbi raid overnight in the search for why. >> i' m in shock that something like this could happen. emily: a family member of a suspect is speaking about the attack. his message for the victims this morning. randy: precautions in boston following the shooting rampage, and the concern for police ahead of the busy holiday season. emily: first, we want to check in with cindy -- foggy in spots. cindy: fog out there right now,

it' s around half a mile in the north shore -- the temperatures are running in the 40' s north and west. a few upper 30' s, but boston is at 50, and we have lowered 50' s in some places. this is the last batch of shower activity that will lift north and east. by 8:00 a.m. we are dry, but the clouds will linger. we will return to sunshine today, mixed with clouds, throughout the day. off. this system pulls through, and the wind shifts to the west. is off to the west. that cooler air will be coming 40' s. without wind blowing, this is what it will feel like -- wind chill drops into the 30' s by days end. blustery day developing. let' s get you out to the roads. olessa: thank you.

a live look outside -- so far we are doing ok, construction just cleared away. let' s get to the maps. some construction still in place on 93 northbound, and also south of town. no problems on the expressway, all quiet. the pike is also in good shape as you travel north of town and make your way southbound. no problems on 93 south. emily: thank you. several breaking developments overnight in the mass shooting in san bernardino, california. police are just releasing the names of both suspects in the massacre that left 14 people dead and 17 injured. we are also getting new details into the moments before the deadly rampage. randy: we are tracking the new information as it comes in. erika: overnight, police identified the suspects as a couple.

ir family members say they were married with the daughter. one was an environmental specialist for the last five years. police confirmed he did attend the training meeting in holiday party at that social services center where the shooting happened. according to witnesses, he left angry shortly after two masks people, with assault rifles and handguns, killed 14 people. after a lengthy search, the pair was found, killed in a police chase involving some 20 officers. overnight, the brother-in-law spoke out against the attack. he spoke to his brother-in-law about a week ago, gave his condolences to the families of the victims who have not yet been identified. >> i am in shock that something like this could happen. why would he do something like this? i have absolutely no idea -- i am in shock. erika: they spent the overnight hours writing his home.

police say three explosives were disabled overnight inside the social services building. we will keep you posted on any new developments. randy: boston police have been on heightened alert following the shooting. antoinette antonio is in the boston commons this morning, where safety is priority. antoinette: especially here, randy, on the common for the tree lighting ceremony. boston police are working with the joint terrorism task force to keep all public gatherings safe, especially during this very busy holiday season. last night, it was a packed house at symphony hall as they assured in the holiday season. concertgoers we spoke with say staying at home in fear would let the enemy win. the conductor agrees. >> is are the times when we need celebration more than ever, when we need to show that there is hope in the midst of all this despair.

this is the third u.s. military chopper crash in less than two weeks. randy: britain has launched its first series of airstrikes against isis in syria. this comes hours after parliament voted overwhelmingly to take part in the syrian action, following an impassioned plea from david cameron, who said that isis intends to kill people in britain. until now, britain has conducted anti-isis airstrikes only in iraq. emily: jairus had the day off in the murder trial after visiting the scene of the crime yesterday. todd is following this today. todd: good morning. today' s proceedings will be between the judge and the trial teams only, which means that the jury will not be here, and chisholm has waived his right to be here. the questioned as to whether to allow testimony from an additional witness.

could take the fog away. that is the trade-off. wind will really ramp up. notice that it is mostly north and west, and it is reducing visibility to half a mile on the north shore, 1/3 by portsmouth. look at what' s happened to the temperatures while you were sleeping. they climbed -- we had our high temperature just before midnight in boston, and thereafter we jumped into the lower 50' s. we are starting out this morning mild. but here' s the thing -- temperatures will hold steady or fall slightly. that will be picking up to 40 miles per hour this afternoon. all the while we are drying out. the sun returns and we will have a sunny stretch through the weekend. notice the temperatures holding right around 50. low to mid 50' s by the time you get down to the cave. back in the northern worcester county, we dropped to 30 in a few locations. the wind' s not all that active

we are starting to see a pickup in the berkshires, where they are out of the west at 18 miles per hour. those wins will only get stronger. a lot of cloud cover out there now. the last of the showers are racing through the cape. weather. showers all the way up to plymouth, extending eastward to the outer cape toward province town. through 8:00. clouds linger for a time, and then we will poke holes in the clouds by lunchtime. a mixture of clouds and sun this afternoon, but it will be blustery as the storm continues to pull out and the wind picks up. it brings in colder air -- the temperatures drop from the 50 degree range into the 30' s, all the way back toward the great lakes. this is the air mass coming in, and as the colder air works in, there could be a little bit of snow accumulation. we will be brightening up the skies as we get into the late

temperatures holding. fairly steady through the day. sunny in most spots, upper 40' s for boston, 50' s here on the south shore. the wind will gust to about 20 miles per hour, and over 30 miles per hour this afternoon. that will make it feel much colder. windchill will be dropping into the 30' s by midafternoon, and that is where they will stay into the evening. cold overnight -- 27th 30' s -- and we are watching high-pressure nose in. as it does the wind slackens off. lots of sunshine. temperatures are a little cooler, in the mid 40' s. it is a cold start saturday morning, coming up to 50 in the afternoon. then a warming trend with mid 50' s by sunday, dry weather through monday, then the developing storm. this one is going to be a powerful storm strengthening offshore. you can see the proximity to the

by next october, open road all electronic system will replace tollbooths on that stretch of the pike. other new england locations will change as well. the transportation chair is also reviving the idea of adding similar tolls on interstate 93/95 to raise revenue. emily: with winter around the corner, the mbta is saying it is ready. they added new machines that will remove snow, including giant snowmelt spurs and deicers. there will be more staffing than last winter and a hotline that will help commuters stay informed. randy: economic headlines -- target will be paying more than $39 million to settle after its massive data breach. personal information from 4 million customers was stolen from the store in 2013. the banks filed a class-action suit against the retailer. target settled with visa for $67

emily: janet yellen heads to congress today, saying it is likely interest rates will go up. she also says that is a good thing -- it is a sign of how far the economy has come since the recession. asian stocks were mostly lower overnight. stock futures on wall street are up. a judge has bound in -- has banned a nativity performance, saying it is an endorsement of religion. many families are upset, saying it is a tradition. others say the school should take it off school grounds. randy: some shoppers have a bee with the storef. you can see a bunch of birds here eating away at packaged meat. a customer took this video inside the walmart earlier this week. they say they threw away the meat as soon as they realize what was happening. 17 birds were removed.

people, one of whom suddenly attacks the victim. the people then take off, leaving her in the street. five fifth-graders were arrested after police say they were planning to cause damage at a new jersey high school. police arrested the 10-11-year-olds, but they have since been released. police say the teachers found a written plan about the attack. police say the students built a device that they did not have explosive properties. emily: the father of the little girl found murdered on deer island is free on bail. joseph amoroso is on orders to stay away from the home depot. prosecutors say he tried to leave the store tuesday with $600 worth of product. salem, new hampshire police are on the lookout for this man who robbed a convenience store with a gun. his crime was caught on surveillance camera.
