hidden treasure hidden inside those walls. the priceless decorations inside, ahead. good morning, i'm emily riemer. randy: and i'm randy price. cindy: it is quite a bit colder as you're stepping out the door yesterday morning. by 10-20 degrees in some cases. we were up around 50 yesterday morning and we settle back into the 30's. worcester is above the freezing mark. northern worcester county some 20's showing up. the winds have settled down. just enough wind to give you a little bit of a wind chill. it feels like it is 27 now in worcester. make sure you're bundled up as you head outside this morning. skies are clear. high pressure is nosing in and this is going to dom notice our weather all weekend long. a lot of showing through the weekend.

the sun is up at 6: 5. looking for highs today in the mid and upper 40's at the coast. lower 40's over the interior today. good looking friday weather-wise. getz even lets get you out to trodse. olessa: so far so good. a live look at the pike. eastbound moving into the distance, traffic getting by without any problems. as you travel into town, construction just about cleared at the zakim 93 south. that road work picking up on 95 northbound and 128 and by 128 and 95. pike looks good. one last construction zone clearing at 128 south passing by route 3. so far trains and buses starting the morning on schedule. emily: four people missing after a fire tears through a house in lynn.

battling those flames for hours. randy: antoinette antonio is at the scene. antoinette: a very intense fire now. four people still unaccounted for and the fire chief said they will not be able to determine if there are any fatalities in this fire until they can go in the building which is very unstable. you can see part of roof that collapsed as we were interviewing the fire chief here. you can hear a lot of firefighters yell when that happened. the fire chief went running over there. let's take a look at some video from overnight when those flames were waging. there were still -- there were two people rescued from the home that we know are still unaccounted for. two people, one woman in her 60's as well as an 18-year-old woman. they were both found unconscious. we don't know where in the home they were discovered but we do

way to hospital. they have some pretty big fire. intense flames, narrow streets in this area of lynn. once again, four people still unaccounted for this morning. the fire chief says they won't know if there are any fatalities until they can go inside that home but we know it is ar very unsafe situation now. just witnessing with our own eyes part of that roof collapsing here. we'll bring you the latest as we get it. antoinette antonio, wcvb news 5. randy: remembering the 14 victims of the shooting rampage in san bernardino, y. a tribute comes as we get new reports.

erika: know couple behind the rampage had an arsenal. these guns legally purchased. the f.b.i. treating the mass shooting as a potential act of terror. it was sometime ago, a neighbor admits to becoming suspicious of farook and his pakistani-born wife because of packages arriving at their home and they had been working long hours in their garage. he deleted data from his cell phone and electronic devices. indicating this was preplanned. >> it was unspeakable the carolina thadge we have seen and the pure panic on the faces of safe.

26-60. they are not saying for sure what triggered the shooting. emily: among the 17 survivors who were injured in the shooting, amanda gaspard. the 32-year-old is from hinsdale, new hampshire. she used to work for the cheshire medical center in keene. she was shot 3 times in the leg. her family pastor raced to her parents' home in hinsdale after hearing the news. >> they are encouraged. it is going to be a long road to recovery for amanda. they are thrilled she is alive because some of the other ones didn't make it. the san bernardino county health department. randy: right now, boston police for vigilance in wake of the violence in san bernardino. thousands of people attended the holiday lights tree lighting last night on boston common, with an increased police presence. but as boston police commissioner williams evans points out, it's what you don't see that is critical.

you know, working with our partners in the joint terrorism task force. we're involved in monitoring travel in and out of not only our state but out of the country. there is a lot of great information sharing. randy: the big concern for law enforcement right now, lone wolves that fly under the radar. the u.s. senate has voted against expanding background checks for purchasing weapons. the measure called for background checks for all gun purchases made online and at gun shows. right now, background checks are only required for purchases from licensed dealers. this proposal was rejected in december 2012 after the shooting massacre at sandy hook elementary in newtown, connecticut. emily: right now, police are investigating a bomb threat to brockton high school. that threat was posted to social media yesterday morning warning of three bombs in the school. police are working with the school. no word on extra security.

scheduled as normal. a woman is suffering life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car in boston. this happened last night at the intersection of commonwealth ave and agganis way. police say she was taken to beth israel. the driver did stay at the scene. randy: a no-go on what could have been a key witness for the defense in the murder trial against philip chism. emily: the eye's todd kazakiewich is live outside the courthouse in salem with the judge's ruling. todd? todd: emily, randy, good morning. jurors had the day off yesterday while the judge and trial teams decided on whether or not the defense could call another medical expert to the stand. the judge's decision, no. chism's defense team wanted to put a medical expert on the stand, who would draw similarities from the teen's brain to that of a person with schizophrenia. but prosecutors say the evidence would be a bomb, and the jury would use it unfairly because the doctor never actually diagnosed chism with schizophrenia. chism's lawyers claim he was insane at the time he murdered and raped his danvers high school teacher, colleen ritzer, two years ago. neither chism nor the jury were

everyone will be back when testimony resumes later this morning. randy: todd, thank you. the man accused of stealing weapons from the worcester armory will face a judge today. james morales is accused of breaking into the facility last month and taking 16 guns. most of those weapons have been recovered. six are still missing. a judge is considering dropping the most serious charge against a woman involved in the case. that charge, unlawful possession of a machine gun. according to the telegram, the judge will decide next week to drop that charge and allow ashley bigsbee to be on house arrest. emily: commitment 2016, a trio of republicans campaign in the granite state today. florida senator marco rubio will speak at an event in portsmouth. and former new york governor george pataki and south carolina senator lindsey graham both have events in lebanon and keene. new troubles on the campaign trail for ben carson. speaking before the republican jewish coalition in washington,

arraignment yesterday. prosecutors say he and another man got into a fight and started firing weapons at each other and into a crowd outside the who's on first bar on yawkey way. 29-year-old jephthe chery, an mbta conductor from hyde park, was struck and killed. no one has been charged with his murder at this point. there are exact sequence is under investigation, particularly who shot who and when. randy: chery's family attended the arraignment but had no comment on the arrest. police have not yet identified or arrested the second man involved in the gun fight. emily: investors are keeping an eye out for november's jobs report to be released today. that could have an impact on the federal reserve's decision to raise short-term interest rates. asian stocks were lower this morning. right now, stock futures are higher on wall street, after the dow lost 252 points to close at 17,477. another win for steve wynn's push to build a casino in

a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the city of boston to stop it. the judge says the state gaming commission acted properly to award wynn a casino license. boston mayor marty walsh claims the casino would only add to traffic problems in nearby charlestown. randy: staples will sell some assets in wake of its takeover of offense depot. the two companies are meeting next week with federal trade the takeover. staples says it will sell office depot assets with revenues of up to $1.25 billion. emily: new this morning, it is buyer beware. randy: stores that have new ways to get you to spend more money. for instance, rude salespeople with cause commerce low

scene. antoinette: very tense moments out here as you mentioned. four people still unaccounted for. the fire department said they will not be able to determine if there were any fatalities until they can get inside that 2 1/2 story home, which is unsafe now. listen to what happened as we were interviewing the district fire chief. part of the roof of the home came crashing down. you can hear firefighters yell, including ones that said we are ok. when firefighters first arrived here, they dealt with those intense flames, but they were able to rescue two women. one in her 60's and another 18 years old. both of them were unconscious but they were revived on their way to the hospital. no word on their condition at this point. as for the 2 1/2 story home, it was gutted by those claim ins.

six of them are still missing. right now, a house keeper is being called a con artist. randy: erika is here with the scam she allegedly conspired bilking a man out of thousands of dollars. erika: prosecutors say the housekeeper pretending to have a brain tumor to get that money, 24-year-old anisa llega was in court yesterday. she's accused of conning donald hodgins out of $80,000 by -- but her attorneys say she never asked for the money, claiming it was all gifts. >> she duped me with her story. that's why i gave her money. and so she was a fraud. erika: prosecutors say llega flew to florida with her fiance, using money hodgins gave her. $60,000 in her accounts have been frozen, and she's being held on bail. emily? emily: thank you. new this morning, a push for a permanent tribute to the 6 firefighters who lost their lives 16 years ago in worcester. since the tragedy, firefighters have been collecting letters, shrine pieces and other items sent to them from all 50 states

the hope is to create a small museum so others can view the items and honor the fallen. randy: this morning, more than 500 drunk driving cases in the commonwealth are on hold. the defendants are waiting on a decision on whether breathalyzers are reliable. a review earlier this year found that out of nearly 39,000 oui cases, 150 had breathalyzer calibration problems. the devices have been used by police in massachusetts since 2011. a hearing on the matter is set for next month. emily: a new warning for students at mit to lose their wheels when headed to class. campus police are asking students to ditch using wheeled devices through the hallways. police say this semester there has been a spike in the number of skateboards, segways and hoverboards inside buildings. the globe reports violators face a $25 fine. randy: a framingham mother spent

emily: senate republicans have passed legislation to cripple the president's healthcare law, and defund planned parenthood. they want to overhaul the affordable care act, and stop taxpayer money from funding planned parenthood. the president has promised to veto the measure. democrats say the bill would deny coverage to millions of americans who gained it from the law. randy: a big win for steve wynn's push to build a casino in everett/ a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the city of boston to stop it. the judge says the state gaming commission acted properly to award wynn a casino license. the city of boston has claimed among other things the casino would add to traffic problems in nearby charlestown. emily: a new warning for one of the hottest gifts this holiday season, hoverboards. the state fire marshal says overcharging the lithium batteries can cause the board to overheat and spark a fire. experts urge customers to make sure their product has a symbol proving that it meets safety standards in the u.s. and always handle the devices

randy: new research says half the amount of americans who need to lower their cholesterol are not taking the appropriate steps. the centers for disease control says many of the people who could benefit from cholesterol-lowering drugs are not taking those drugs. the drugs are recommended for people with heart disease, high cholesterol, and diabetes. 36% of americans over 21 are eligible. emily: a flaunt quincy is offering free roads, free uber and taxi rides home to customer whis celebrate just a little too much this december. they will also serve free soda to the designated driver.

just a couple of clouds this afternoon. clear overnight and tomorrow again, lots of sunshine. it is a little bit of a chilly overnight into early morning tomorrow with lots of 20's. as this high pressure shifts eastward sunday, winds out of the backside come out of the southwest. temperatures on sunday up even more. our next chance of rain comes in later tuesday night into wednesday. it is all going to depend on the track of this storm system. it is mainly offshore, perhaps a little too far away to give us much in terms of rainfall but we are going to watch the track. a little uncertain here. that is our next chance of rain between now and then. we have a gorgeous weekend to enjoy. temperatures typical of early november instead of december. olessa: so far we're doing ok. a live look outside for you here. you can see starting to see a
