karen anderson is also available for us giving us some insight. what do you know? karen: a man walked up to a homeland security vehicle, put down a box, and quickly walked away. because it had some wires over it, there was concern. the bomb squad was called in. that was detonated. what happens now is they try to find the person who left that and also begin the investigation, perhaps searching for fingerprints on the device, look to see if there were in fact explosives inside. now becomes the next part of this. we have learned they are searching for a person who put this down so that is part of the focus, and the other focus is trying to figure out exactly what was inside that box. >> thank you for that.

attack pledging allegiance to isis using a facebook alias. she reportedly deleted postings before she was shot and killed by police. we will have more on this breaking story in just a moment. >> you are watching newscenter 5 at noon. a lot more to get to. we also have todd. four people are dead after an intense fire burns through a crowded home. >> right now, investigators are on the scene searching for what triggered this early morning fire. todd: there are still so many questions about what happened here and the cause of the fire. behind me you can see an investigator looking into the house. there were as many as 19 people living in two apartments. four of them did not escape the

sudden when it happened during an early morning press conference, but lynn firefighters feared the everyone out of the building several hours earlier. >> they brought out victim and told me they heard moans beyond that, or that victim was. they went back in and were able to get the second victim out. todd: the firefight was delayed by the rescue effort so the fire spread and became too intense for firefighters to go back in again. the flames were so hot they melted the paint on cars and fire trucks. four people were trapped and did not make it out alive. as many as 19 people were believed to have been inside when that cause fire -- when it caught fire.

due to the suspicious nature of the suitcase left so close to the homeland security vehicle, they went out and looked at the video. a white male approximately 40 with a green coat was seen leaving the suitcase and going across atlantic avenue onto high street. due to the suspicious nature of leaving the suitcase, they called the boston police department. our offices and eod, tactical units responded. the explosive unit at that point brought in a x-ray machine where they x-rayed the suitcase. inside the suitcase, they saw wires and a power source which drew their attention.

took a step back. went back and then working together with other agencies, they did what is called a controlled detonation of the suitcase and found inside that suitcase were wires and other personal items. we do not believe this was anything of a nature that would lead us to believe there was anything regarding explosives, but out of abundance of caution we went about as if it was at this time. we had to shut down the area and did a controlled detonation. i think that is what you all heard, but there is nothing to lead us at this time to believe there was any explosives inside that suitcase. >> what were the wires attached to?

it could be awalkman or phone. we are going to investigate what start reopening the area. unfortunately around the country, better safe than sorry. our explosive unit and all the officers did a great job. there is nothing more to it. >> will atf be involved, is there a federal element? >> homeland security will be involved because it is their building and vehicle. i was in contact with the fbi, the state, the governor, the mayor just to keep them up-to-date. >> are you looking for the man who dropped the suitcase? >> yes, we are. we have a good photo of him and we want to know why he left the suitcase and appeared to be in a

from what i seen, he was a white male with a green coat and dungarees on. we can get out a better description. if we think is needed, we will get a picture out to the media. >> any sort of suspicious behavior? >> basically, the camera has him dropping it by the rear of a homeland security vehicle and basically then walking off quickly across towards high street. >> in your expert opinion, would you characterize that as suspicious? >> yes, and that is why we went to the extent that we did. given what is going on , given homeland security and the nexus of where he put the suitcase and

karen: there are some images of was just referencing. this was a picture obtained eye surveillance video of the area, and this is an image of the man the police say dropped off that bag. they are trying to find him to speak with him. they want to make it clear, he is not a suspect, but this is a next to the homeland security video. this is the man a commissioner described as around 40 years old. he was wearing a jacket ,jeans, a shirt with a white logo on the front. putting this picture out obtained by five investigates, this is the man they are suitcase down. information. the commission are talking about

if you like snow, you have been kind of missing out so far this season. we have not had any and typically by this time of year we do have some. i do not see any on the horizon , a lot of blue sky. the winds are so much lighter than they were yesterday, i' ve the west, northwest at about 13 miles per hour. on the cape, we are 47 and out on worcester county it is 41 degrees. we may gain a couple more degrees but notice, we are going to bubble up some clouds during the afternoon hour, especially in worcester county and by the merrimack valley. although we have had a lot of bright sunshine through the morning hours, we will mix in some or clouds this afternoon. a massive sprawling area of high pressure is going to dominate

amount of sunshine. temperatures holding in the mid s. you can see on future cast those clouds bubbling up north and west, but they will dissipate overnight, and we are talking tomorrow. we will job into the upper 20' s in the suburbs, just at the freezing mark in boston. tomorrow, wall-to-wall sunshine with temperatures up around 50 to the coast. weekend long, but notice how it shifts to the east on sunday. . light and coupled with that sunshine, it is going to be nice. i would not be shocked if someone touched 60 degrees on sunday.
