>> from boston' s news leader this is wcvb newscenter 5 at 5:00 p.m. news. california shooting rampage an act of terrorism, saying there are a number of pieces of evidence that pushed investigators over the cliff. first look inside the shooters' home. antoinette: we have team coverage for you tonight. it starts with newscenter 5' s mary saladna live at the breaking news desk, mary? >> it' s the biggest development yet in the search for motive. law enforcement saying one of the killers pledged suppport for isis. an attack inspired by isis. the investigators passing the wife pledged her allegiance to isis on social media using an alias minutes into the attack.

these horrific attacks as an act of terrorism. >> they have no evidence yet that isis directed the attack that left 14 people dead. they had rounds of ammunition and unexploded bombs in their garage. it was malk ik that opened fire. >> they were all friends with the man who did this, and even they had no idea you had become radicalized. >> thousands gathering to remember the victims. it' s not known if the killers received any sort of training by isis. but the fbi has long warned about isis' s online campaign which encourages people worldwide to kill in their name. in the newsroom, i am married.

rare look inside the home of the terror suspects. the landlord who rented the apartment to the couple allowing reporters inside today. this asked investigators have cleared that town house. newscenter 5' s sera congi continues our coverage. sera? >> this is the apartment where the fbi says the couple stockpiled weapons and stored homemade pipe bombs. the glimpse inside today revealed signs of the couple' s everyday life, like symbols of muslim worship as well as baby clothes and toys. the suspects rented the modest townhouse apartment, and had been living there since may. the landlord never suspecting their deadly plot. >> i don' t know how you find this out. what type of people are, they could look on the front like a young married couple, no problems. >> a mob of media entered the two bedroom home this morning, with permission from the property owner.

evidence from the apartment. the landlord says the couple never caused any trouble. >> no one has ever complained, they were very, very quiet here. >> the glimpse inside revealed several prayer books and a tapestry with arabic writing, also their 6 month old baby' s crib, and other toys and items for the child. what we don' t see, the arsenal of weapons and pipe bombs couple stockpiled here. during the tour of the apartment reporters also say packed suitcases, and identification cards. the apartment was supposedly in disarray, it' s unclear if that was caused by investigators or the couple. antoinette: we are learning more tonight about the 14 people killed in the rampage. new at 5:30 p.m. we remember the innocent victims. phil: in the meantime there is some breaking news. the man police wanted to talk to

suspicious suitcase detonated in boston' s seaport district is now in custody. 5 investigates has learned he does have a lengthy criminal record and history of mental health issues. newscenter 5' s juli mcdonald is live in boston. juli? >> sources told five investigates that he is known throughout the area with several prior arrests in massachusetts. it was a surveillance photo that led to his arrest. the investigation took nearly two hours, leading up to the controlled detonation of an abandoned suitcase. it was a routine patrol by a federal officer and start that led police to that bag lesson near security -- next to a

>> we got a good photo of him. we are looking to see possibly why he left the suitcase and why he appeared to be in a hurry, scurrying up the street. >> because of the suspicious way he handled the bag, the x-rated and found it contains wires and a power source. >> we think you should leave the building. we spent the next hour and a half out on the great and then we heard a big boom. >> they moved away from the suv and across the street for that controlled detonation. they acted out of an abundance of caution, that people are safe and there are no threads ts. -- no threats. >>? better safe than sorry.

with no ties to terrorism. phil: breaking news to tell you about from a high school student -- from brockton where a high school student is under arrest of accused of making threats on facebook. police say the suspect hack into another student' s facebook account and posted a thread about a bombing and shooting of brockton high school. investigators say the post was quickly taken down on tuesday but was captured and screenshots. phil: antoinette: now to a deadly fire. four people inside the multi-family home died. newscenter 5'

phil: antoinette: a mental health expert testifies today in the philip chism trial murder. dr. richard dudley took the stand for the defense, to testify about chism' s mental state on the day he killed teacher colleen ritzer. but the judge moved to limit dudley' s testimony. the testimony comes a day after the judge barred two other experts the defense wanted to call. neither one had ever examined chism. phil: appeal denied for the state' s highest court has denied a request to review a ruling that found a group of roman catholic parishioners are trespassing. the archdiocese closed st. frances x. cabrini 11 years ago. parishioners say they will continue to ask cardinal sean o' decision to close the church and their attorney. antoinette: right now a manhunt is underway in maryland for the person who shot a police phil: next on newscenter 5 at 5, the call that officer was responding to when the violence

at 5:00 p.m. phil: a funeral was held today for the melrose native who was killed in a shooting at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado. officer garrett swasey was gunned down responding to the call last friday. he graduated from melrose high high school in 1989, was a professional funeral l figure skater worked at , the university of colorado and also served as a co-pastor at a local church. his funeral was held in colorado springs where he lived with his wife and two children. antoinette: right now a manhunt is underway for a suspect after a maryland police officer was shot in the face. the officer was responding to a call in aberdeen for suspicious activity when he was hit by a bullet in the eye. hospital officials say the officer is in stable condition. police say they know who they are looking for.

shut down as the search continues. day 3 in the trial of a baltimore police officer accused in the death of freddie gray. the jury today seeing a recorded interview between officer william porter and investigators. the nearly hour-long video detailed porter' s account of what happened in the back of the van transporting gray. prosecutors claim porter ignored a department policy saying officers must call a medic if a prisoner requests one. but a detective who investigated testified porter did all for a medic as soon as he realized gray was injured in the back of the police van. phil: a fresh blanket of snow in northern california. this is what it looks like in the blue canyon area outside of sacramento. as much as a foot of fresh powder fell at the highest elevations. and it' s still coming down. from all that snow in california to a record lack of snow in buffalo, new york. the city has officially broken its 116 year record.

been december 3 but this year that record will be shattered with no snow in the immediate forecast. people have been taking advantage of the mild weather. they are golfing. the golf course usually has to close by november 1. antoinette: remember buffalo a year ago? phil: nine feet of snow. antoinette: we would save better them than us. harvey: there is nothing going on right now. no big storms coming this way. we have some really nice weather coming this direction. temperatures average of above normal. we are running about four degrees above normal. with this warm weather in place we have gotten used to it. this weekend could be even warmer. it is possible on sunday that some places good could be over 60

we have some warm temperatures coming in as we had through the nice weekend. the dew point is 30 degrees. the air is very dry out there with the westerly wind at 12 miles per hour. right now , most temperatures have cooled off in the 40' s. we started the day with plenty of sunshine within the context came in and cap. temperatures a little bit. now you can see it. a little disturbance working its way through. once it moves through the we get some nice weather to come in. right now we have clouds in here. they will be clearing out as we had through the overnight hours. a large area we are talking about. no real moisture to talk about. no rain, no snow, they will be dissipating through the overnight hours. chilly overnight, 26 234 degrees. the wind west at 10 mile per hour.
