i'm delivering great news. today's high will be 56 degrees. that's what i'm forecasting in boston. yesterday's high was 59 but notice the temperature trend. it's on the way down. tuesday and wednesday, we're back to where we should be this time of year. the reason we're going to cool off, we're watching this cold front. you can see up to the north and west. it's a dry one. but it's going to drop down later today. that will cool our temperatures back. we're also watching this area of low pressure as it moves over the atlantic ocean. it will redevelop and could bring some of our areas some rain tomorrow morning. we'll talk more about that in just a second but this morning, we're talking about really high, thin clouds but also some low-level clouds working their way in. you can see some fog out there in parts of the area like providence down to about a mile visibility. keene now improving up to five-mile visibility. but the concern is this. where temperatures are below the freezing mark, say, about keene, orange, to springfield, if you
4:43 am
could be in the form of some black ice. so please be careful out there this morning. of course, temperatures are above the freezing mark on the cape already. so we're not concerned there. but as we go through the day with the wind out of the west, eventually shift to go the north and west, today's high temperatures will warm up into the low to mid 50's. so not as warm as yesterday. but still a pretty nice day on tap. enjoy it because things are going to change. as we head towards this evening, we drop temperatures back into the 20's through the merrimack valley. 30 in worcester. in the 40's on the south shore, the cape and the islands. that is one thing. as this system comes in, it will be in the form of just plain old rain because temperatures will be well above freezing. so what happens is this. that cold front drops down. it brings down colder air in place. then we watch this area of low pressure. it will get close enough to us to bring some showers, i think, to parts of the cape and the islands and maybe the south coast but that really is the extent of it.
4:44 am
morning waking up to some clouds and then a pretty persistent northeast wind through the day of tuesday. so that's going to make temperatures feel even a little cooler out there. we will keep the clouds in the forecast even through, i think, most of the day of wednesday so tomorrow high temperatures only climbing into the 40's and again those winds will be pretty strong out of the north and east at about 10-20 miles an hour. so let's detail out that seven-day forecast and show thaw rain tomorrow morning. it's around for about 8:00 in the morning in and around the cape. it continues through about lunchtime. then it really winds down and gets out of here. we clear out the sky. notice this temperature trend. we're up in the 50's, close to 60 degrees by the end of the weekend. this is december temperature. kevin: where are we at here? what's going on. danielle: loving it. kevin: this morning it's slippery out there. some areas at that freezing mark, you mentioned some of that fog. be careful on the roads this morning especially some of those ramps and overpasses. just take it easy. a little caution early on this morning. thank you, danielle. looking pretty good out there
