frank: 5:12. welcome back. wild weather in texas yesterday. residents say they spotted two funnel clouds in lindale. no one was injured, but officials estimate the twisters damaged about 50 homes and other buildings. the threat for severe weather not over yet in texas or in neighboring oklahoma. meanwhile out west, rain is hamperg efforts to clean up after a rare tornado touched down in battleground washington. winds topping 100 miles-an-hour swept through a mostly residential part of the city tearing into roofs, homes, and ripping out massive trees. it could taken weeks and even months for some people to clean up. antoinette: denver, colorado seeing some snow yesterday. about six inches to eight inches fell up in mountains which caused some heavy traffic along i-70. the snow did taper off overnight, and it should be sunny and dry for today's broncos game.

we may actually get a couple of rumbles of thunder here on monday night if it sets up perfectly. i want to show you this right now. it's a powerful system. you can see rain showers and storms from minneapolis all the way back towards oklahoma and even texas now. and there is a cold side to this. some snow even falling in parts on the backside of this of kansas. now it is a warm frontal boundary that is headed our way. right now we're actually under the influence of a cold front. it's actually a back-door cold front that is backing in at this point. and what it is doing is actually bringing in a lot of clouds for us today. so you're definitely waking up this morning with clouds around but it's also going to hold our temperatures. it's going to drop our temperatures from yesterday because yesterday we were spoiled with 60 degrees in boston and 56 in worcester. today going for a high of 50 in boston and 48 degrees in worcester. that's about a 10-degree temperature drop. just to give you some perspective. we should be running around 42 degrees at this time of year. so, hey, we'll take too even
5:14 am
i want to show you what's happening right now. it's currently 51 degrees in boston. 52 in plymouth. look at nantucket checking in this morning at 53 degrees but cooler up through the merrimack valley in the 40's and even 30's in concord, new hampshire. and 45 in orange. now through the day today, temperatures really are going to hold, i think. we're in the upper 40's, "low 50's, not really going anywhere. the reason we're going to have the persistent winds out of the north and east shift to go the east anywhere from 5-10 miles an hour so it is going to keep our temperatures down and also keep in low-level clouds so anywhere from, say, 48 in worcester, to 50 in boston, to maybe 55 degrees on nantucket. that will the warmest spot on the map. now for tonight it's mostly cloudy. temperatures dropping into the 30's and 40's. again with an east leer wind and low-level clouds, we could get in some drizzle overnight into first thing tomorrow morning.
5:15 am
so let me show you the timing on everything. notice by monday morning we have a lot of clouds around. future cast not necessarily indicating that we'll see some drizzle but i do think we could especially by our coastline. once we get through the afternoon and the showers really start to fire up and into the evening and into the overnight. in fact, the overnight hour s is when things will really get going for us while most of you are sleeping. so rain chances on the way up to very high monday night into really early tuesday morning. and then it should wind down by tuesday late morning and everything should be good. when all is said and done we're looking for a half an inch to rain. we could really use it because we're down over ten inches for the year now in boston. now behind this system we're actually going to be pretty warm on tuesday morning. but through the afternoon, those temperatures are going to drop. and the reason why they're going to drop is because those winds are going to pick up, turn to the north and west. look, these are the wind gusts at 5:00. upwards of 35 to 40 miles an
5:16 am
so it's very windy, brisk day on tuesday. and that does eventually bring in colder air, so much so that we're in the 40's by wednesday and by next weekend we're back into the 30's. it feels a lot more like wintertime. frank and antoinette. antoinette: danielle, thank you. it's 5:17. stories we're following on the eyeopener right now. frank: police in ohio say they've arrested a thief who stole more than $80,000 worth of jewels from a museum display. check out the surveillance video. cleveland police say the suspect casually strolled into the cleveland natural history museum last week, smashed the case, nabbing the sapphires on display. he then slipped out through a service door. the suspect is the lab tech and physics teacher at nearby john carroll university has been put on administrative leave as police try to figure out where those jewels are now. antoinette: swiss police say

come on in pop pop. happy birthday. t i just had a heart attack... and now i have a choice. for her. for them. and him. a choice to take brilinta. a prescription for people who've been hospitalized for a heart attack. i take brilinta with a baby aspirin ...no more than 100 mg. as it affects how well it works. it's such an important thing to do to help protect against another heart attack. brilinta worked better than plavix. and even reduced the chances of dying from another one. don't stop taking brilinta without talking to doctor. since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. don't take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers. a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. tell your doctor about bleeding, new or unexpected shortness of breath, any planned surgery and all medicines you take. i will take

5:30 am
we could even see some areas i think of drizzle if it does persist. here comes that cold front coming across our region right now bringing down the cooler air but still it's mild. we should be running around 42 degrees so we will take it. but notice a batch of showers and thunderstorms from minneapolis back through kansas and dallas, texas. this whole weather system is headed in our direction. so we'll have the timeline on the rain and talk about how much to expect where you live ahead. frank and antoinette. antoinette: danielle, thank you. it's 5:32. stories we're following right now on the eyeopener. frank: a taunton man under arrest right now for the death of a pedestrian. 33-year-old michael burns is accused of driving under the influence of drugs in stoughton. 71-year-old joseph brady was hit and killed trying to cross park street friday night. burns is expected to face more charges. antoinette: leaders from nearly 200 nations have adopted the first global pact to fight climate change.

east and will impact our weather beginning really tomorrow late afternoon into the overnight hours. so the rain chances really look low monday morning. i think you should skirt by okay. maybe areas of patchy drizzle but once we get towards late monday afternoon and monday night that's when the rain really ramps up. theb we could see a couple of embedded thunderstorms as temperatures start to warm associated with this warm front. so here is the whole idea with this. today just socked in with the clouds. we're still cooler. tomorrow a touch warmer. there comes that warm front with all that heavy rain coming through and bringing in milder air. on the backside of this on tuesday those winds really start to ramp up out of the north and west and blow anywhere from about 20 to 30 miles an hour sustained gusts to near 40. in terms of how much rain, probably a half an inch to an inch in most locations. we could really use it since we're down over ten inches now for the year in boston and down

game day for the patriots and it's a win-win. either gronk plays or the texans have wasted time game-planning for him. gronk did make the trip to houston with the team but is still listed as questionable so it'll be a game-time decision whether he plays. he only missed one game with a bone bruise and sprain to his right knee. so a return this soon is a bit unexpected, but he may be ready to give it a go. >> he's a great player. i always wish we would have these guys out in everyone whether jewels or gronk but different guys are dealing with different things. it's part of football season. i think you still have to be mentally tough to overcome whatever adversity you face. try to win a game. antoinette: the patriots take on the houston texans tonight. kickoff is at 8:30. frank: the celtics coming off their loss to the warriors friday with a much better night
