have a rumble of thunder in a few spots especially southeastern mass and the cape. moving into the western portions and moving eastward. not all areas are going to get a lot of heavy downpours. the concentration may be more southeastern mass and the cape. this will last into the early morning hours and in the start of the commute it will exit and the skies will clear after that. we will undergo a lot of temperature change and the wind changes as well. the temperatures climb overnight to about 60 degrees waking up tomorrow morning in boston. and then the winds kick in and the temperatures will slowly fall during the day. the skies will clear. more changes after that and we'll cover that in a little while. ed: a beverly family called 9-1-1 when they realized there was an intruder in their home. >> we can hear someone in our house. our lights have gone on and my husband has walked around and someone is in the house.

address and found this guy in the bushes. he was taken into custody and charged with unarmed burglary. police say nothing was stolen. they are on the lookout for a second suspect tonight. heather:bill cosby loses another degree and this is coming from boston. boston university revoking the honorary doctorate they gave entertainer last year. past sexual assault allegations and his own sworn deposition testimony drove to the decision. two months ago tufts university revoked an honorary degree that it gave cosby several years ago. for his part cosby is firing back against accusers. he filed a counter lawsuit in massachusetts against seven women who accuse him of drugging and assaulting them. they accuse him of character assassination by making false charges against cosby in return for payment. a judge wants these women to

damages. ed: and now what sparked a fire that killed an elderly brother and sister. those flames spread quickly. the victim is identified as 71-year-old nicholas and 85-year-old mary grace. they lived in the single family home and lived there for decades. a new hampshire man is under arrest trying to burn down his mother's home when she was still in it. he was arrested in salem. he had an argument with his mom and then poured gasoline on the rear deck of the home. officials arrested him at his father's house. heather:the woman who sparked a social media fury for taping her dog's mouth shut. she has not pled to animal cruelty charges. last month she posted a photo showing her dog with mouth sealed shut with duct tape.

this is what happens when you don't shut up. if convicted she could spend up to five months in prison. a new poll shows most new york voters agree their games constitute gambling and they should be illegal in that state. it found 68% agree with the state's attorney general while 34% believe the games are mainly skill based and are legal. the state is suing fan dual and draft kings to stop them from doing business in the state of new york. they have about three and a half million players there alone. heather:accused teacher of lying at an isis attack. >> and claims prosecutors are making about the story. heather:dozens killed in a crash. the investigation into what went wrong. ed: a special surprise for one little girl.

heather:the f.a.a. will now require many small drone and model airplane owners to register them. this move is in response to the increasing reports of drones flying near manned aircrafts. it covers the aircraft wing pounds. the drone owners who are 13 and older will have to register on an f.a.a. website beginning december 21st. they expect parents to register for younger children. the registration will cost $5, but will be waived the first 30 days. heather:on-line retailer amazon says it will no longer carry boards made by swag way until safety reviews are complete. it may be connected to boards that contain lithium batteries that can burst into flames. ed: "star wars" "the farce awakens" opens up in hollywood

some industry predictions say this will be the highest grossing movie of all time. take a look. the force awakens for the premiere of a highly anticipated film that people know little about. >> i love the secret. >> what i hate is when i got to see a movie and feel like the trailer told me everything. >> the plot has been kept largely under wraps, but fans can expect the return of actors actors and characters from the original trilogy. harrison ford says he is more excited for this film than when he debuted in 1977 at hans solo. back then he never could have imagined the success "star wars" would have had. >> knowing knowing that it is a big daunting. >> carrie fisher returns to the role she hasn't been able to shake. >> i get princess leah like i am supposed to go, yes?

then we have a band of showers on the way. that is due in next. and that will be here, oh i would say several hours from now. it is all happening as this front moves in. before this front moves in the warm front is coming and that's why the temperatures go up tonight. and even though we will be behind the front initially it is very, very mild and then the cool air weu8 come in tomorrow night and on wednesday. i say cooler because even that will be above average still. let's plot the rain for you. 8:00 tonight it is just about ready to move into the birkshires. into the boston area later on with some heavy downpours across rhode island and southeastern mass. there can be the rumble of thunder with the heavier downpours because the air mass will become that warm and humid. by the time we get to the morning commute the showers are pretty much a done deal and the skies can clear and we

during the daylight hours of tomorrow. looks like a lot of sunshine coming up on wednesday with the skies mostly clear. the temperatures are closer to average. the weather pattern overall is still showing frequent mild periods than cold periods although it will be chilly for the upcoming weekend. weekend. here are the temperatures. worcester, boston, orange, lawrence, in the 40s with a light northeast wind and a lot of fog. the wind shifts south just below the mass pike and that's where the warm air is coming in with the southerly winds and that's why the temperatures have responded. and very mild to warm air off to the south. new york, washington, pittsburgh, raleigh, north carolina, there is your cold front and there is the chillier air. again consider the time of year. mid-december is not especially cold as mid-december can sometimes be. overnight the temperatures reaching 60. it may even be above 60 early

and then the wind will be blowing all day and temperatures steady and inching down slowly and then down more significantly for tomorrow night and wednesday. very windy tomorrow. mild during the day. cooler, but dry and bright on wednesday. the next rain situation looks like it is slated for thursday afternoon and thursday night. there is a similar situation happening to tonight happens then. after that it will turn noticeably colder by the time we get to the weekend meaning friday night, saturday, saturday night early on sunday. if you are thinking about the patriots game, however, it looks like it will be dry with sunshine and a 10 to 15 mile per hour wind and a few higher gusts. right now it is monday and i would say the game time temperature is about 39 degrees. check it out. notice waps on monday. the temperature inches up again. it looks like next week, christmas week will feature warmer than normal temperatures. the colder weather for most of the weekend is sort lived

6:00. ed: right now a dense fog advisory is in the area. heather:it is making visibility back for the evening commute. harvey leonard joins us with an update. harvey: you see the bright whites here, worcester county, connecticut, rhode island, all along the coast. the cape and north of boston and southern new hampshire and southern maine. 9 rest of the area is foggy too, but those are the areas with the most dense fog. quarter mile visibility for worcester and providence. a half mile from boston to plymouth and hyannis. dense fog advisory until midnight. let's give you an idea of the time line of those as they move eastward. getting into the birkshires and then spregd east quickly with the heaviest activity likely to be across rhode island and the cape where thunder. this will be gone by tomorrow morning's commute and dryer air will start to come in. and then we will have to deal
