charging with aggravated rape. so say all members of the jury? reporter: he is also guilty of second charge of aggravated assault in the woods outside the defendant. defendant guilty or not guilty? >> not guilty. reporter: the jury was told earlier for that rape charge to stand victim would have to be alive. a status hearing planned for next week, then after the holidays, sentencing. because he is a juvenile the sentence is life with a chance of parole. the rape charge carries life with parole. so when the sentencing hearing happens the judge has credible leeway. he could make these executive or

a lot of different people, notably about seven courtroom officers and some other cops guarding phillip chism. seven standing behind him and throughout the courtroom. it filled up very quickly and colleen retzer' s mother was visibly upset in anticipation of the verdict about to be read. take a look at some video we got from inside the courtroom. this is of the parents bowing their head during the reading of the second charge, the charge on which phillip chism was not guilty, the aggravated rape in the woods. as jack explained earlier, the jury believes that she had been dead at that time when phillip chism violated her. on the other side of the courtroom, there was the same reaction from phillip chism' s mother, about her head, crying, being consoled by two women. after court, as she

throughout this entire process, she left court and walked past the cameras, saying nothing. she has not said a word since the trial began, and she remains at the s the same here today. we have not heard from calling retzer' s parents. but we are being told that they will have a news conference scheduled for less than 30 minutes with the district attorney at the da' s office. he will be speaking about the case and hopefully, s family will finally break their silence, giving us an idea of how they feel. a bittersweet day at best. convicted the teenager, the 16-year-old, of murder. that is the latest here. we will give you an update at

cool. in december, when it starts to drop, i would usually use the word colder not cooler. but because even this cooler air isn' t that called, in using that word. in the 40' s, still low 50' s around the shoreline. the wind is still gusty, but we had some gusts up to over 40 miles per hour earlier today. the wind is going to become more northwest the northerly. that will bring chilly air down from canada, so it will drop down close to freezing, but still stay above freezing along the shoreline. tomorrow' s temperatures will reach the 40' s, but not near 60. the brees will be out of the north and then out of the northeast, eventually bringing low clouds, are probably not till tomorrow. after having a few hours of sunshine we have a patchwork sky with a lot of instability around
