s gone viral. emily: we will share it with you in just a bit. cindy back this morning and cold temperatures. cindy: a little chill in the air. starting out below the freezing mark right now through a good portion of worcester county. jump into baltimore in the mid 30' s, and some 40' s showing up. we do have some high, thin clouds starting to move in. the flow of air around the system is actually from the southwest. these milder temperatures through the ohio valley, this warmth will surge in through the course of the day. it will be accompanied by some stronger winds. right now, winds are sustained around 10-15 miles per hour. on the south shore, a wind advisory is in effect. you will notice a little bit of sunshine this morning, clouds this afternoon.

most of us topping out in the 50' s this afternoon. let' s get you out to the roads right now. good morning, less of. olessa: good morning, cindy. welcome back. let' s go to the maps and see some overnight construction in place right now heading through 93 south. 95 approaching 128 and also on 128 in that same stretch, construction. no problems on the pike this morning. this is 128 south down to route 2a. emily: thank you. breaking overnight, one person is dead, at ast 37 others hurt after a car slams into a crowd in las vegas. police say the driver, with a young child in the car, was traveling northbound on las vegas boulevard, when she drove up onto the sidewalk in front of the paris hotel & casino. 37 people were taken to the hospital.

critical condition at this hour. the driver fled the scene, but has since been taken into custody. randy: right now, a third person is under arrest, expected in court today in connection with the break-in at the army reserve armory in worcester. tyrone james of dorchester, is accused of helping to broker the sales of the stolen guns. james walker morales, the former us army reservist accused of stealing the weapons, allegedly brought them to james the day after the robbery. 16 weapons were taken from the armory last month. emily: a new bedford man is due in court today facing animal cruelty charges. police arrested danny santos over the weekend, after they say they found dead animals on his property. they removed malnourished dogs and cats from the home on bream street. they were there as part of a hit and run investigation. police say they found the car they were looking for at the address. right now, all public schools are shut down in nashua, new hampshire after a threat of violence. randy: the eyeopener' s doug meehan is here with the specific threat today.

threat was made to two high schools in nashua. it came in via email and warned that action would be taken to hurt students. the bomb squad was on campus yesterday scouring for any sign of a threat. school leaders say nothing was found but classes were canceled as a precaution. >> since they can' t rule out a credible threat, we decided to take the cautious course of action and close all of our schools for tomorrow. doug: both local police and the fbi are now investigating. the closure affects 17 public schools, and more than 1100 students. the superintendent says he plans to reopen tomorrow. randy? randy: thank you. a driver is preparing to face a judge after a dangerous crash in saugus. three people seriously hurt. they say that he left the scene of a two-car crash on friday night. police believe the 19-year-old

the driver of also seriously hurt. a shooter. police tell us shots were fired last night at 37 round hill road. one person was treated for non life-threatening injuries. >> [indiscernible] emily: a heart-breaking search for answers in westport. a 4-year-old boy was killed, when flames race through his home. t the first time tragedy has struck at the same address. caleb nardolillo was killed in the fire late saturday on mount pleasant street. his mother melody and sister bella made it out but were badly hurt. in november, 1952, a mother and eight children were also killed in a fire, at the same place. the victim' s granddaughter from that previous fire, returned to the site yesterday, to grieve

today, following saturday' s democratic debate in nashua. randy: some politicians are trying to boost salvation army donations. governor charlie baker, house speaker robert deleo, and boston mayor marty walsh will all ringing at the famous red kettles. governor baker will ring the bell at the downtown crossing location today. state leaders want to help the salvation army boost donations, which are lower than expected this year. mayor walsh will take over the kettle tomorrow and speaker deleo on wednesday. a boost for drivers this morning. prices at the pump the lowest in six years. emily: why analysts say they' re dropping. a unique candle is becoming an internet sensation. the surprise you' ll find inside

see all the red squares? every single day but one, we' ve had above average high temperatures. when you average them out, average temperature today for december. that is well ahead of any average temperature on record for the month of december. there' to go. look at this, average high is 39. we are in the 50' week. by christmas eve on thursday, we are well into the 60' s. the record for christmas eve in worcester is 59. it is 61 in boston. i think we' re going to be beating those records. this morning, we are starting out in the 40' s on the cape, but that is the warm spot. near the coast line, low to mid 30' s. around the freezing mark in the worcester area.

through the morning hours, there might be a little sunshine mixed with the clouds. there are high, thin clouds overhead this morning. they will thicken up a little bit as the day wears on. high pressure that brought us sunshine yesterday now heading east. this is coming ahead of a frontal system. there is some rain back through the great lakes. first, that southwesterly wind is going to transport in some milder temperatures. the gusts really pick up throughout the day. they will be strongest in southeastern massachusetts, where there could be some cost to 45 miles per hour. there is a wind advisory. in boston' s, the winds pick up this morning. by lunchtime, close to 20 miles per hour. it is a windy one, but a milder afternoon. upper 40' s to around 50 degrees

clouds are thickening up during the daylight hours. could produce one or two showers. bit of a damp start. s. milder air streaming on in. we will get a few showers to come through and then dry things out tomorrow night into the first half of wednesday before another round of rain comes in. not a lot of sunshine, but if you have plans tomorrow, a couple showers in the morning hours and the afternoon is a hit or miss showers. i' m not expecting widespread rain throughout the day. it will dry up briefly overnight. look at these temperatures here on christmas. on christmas day, not a record, but still very mild for this time of year. when you look at this seven-day forecast, it does not look like

exceeded expectations by nearly a billion dollars. emily: economic headlines this morning, u.s. gas prices are at their lowest level in more than six years. a gallon of regular gas dropped 4 cents to $2.06 nationwide in the past two weeks. u.s. crude prices have sunk 17% for december. analysts say prices have dropped because supplies are strong, but demand has not been big. a mixed market for asian stocks this morning. chinese stocks were higher but markets in japan fell, following wall street' s decline friday. right now, u.s. stock futures are up, after the dow plunged 367 points friday to close at 17,128. randy: general electric is postponing its plan to move its connecticut headquarters. g.e. says it will decide next month if it should move from fairfield. the company complained about higher business taxes in the new state budget, and said it was searching for a more business-friendly state. connecticut lawmakers have since

but there is also concern about projected state debt, which could lead to greater taxation. with the holiday shopping season in full swing, there' s a good chance you' ll get a gift card. $130 billion are expected to be loaded on to gift cards this year. but if yours doesn' t suit you, you can turn it into cash. websites like raise.com and giftcards.com will buy your unwanted cards giving you money, instead. but it usually isn' t for the same amount. consumer experts say if you' re planning to swap, do it soon. >> the gift card won' t expire until five years from the date of purchase, but you might get hit with inactivity fees or lose the gift card. randy: and to avoid giving a gift card that somebody might not want, consider bank cards. they work like a pre-paid credit card, and can be used almost anywhere.

on the eye. emily: a painfully awkward moment at the miss universe competition. miss colombia was originally crowned as the 2015 winner. but it turns out steve harvey read the wrong name. >> i have to apologize. the first runner up is columbia. miss universe 2015 is miss philippines. emily: miss philippines was the actual winner. and you can see, she' s shocked either at the win or at the mistake. the crown was then taken off of miss colombia. after the show, she said she was not upset, and is happy with how far she came. steve harvey says that nobody feels worse than he does. i believe him. randy: the force is strong at the box office. "star wars: the force awakens" is smashing records. the 7th film in the saga took in

randy: breaking news overnight out of las vegas. one person is dead, dozens more hurt after a car slams into a crowd. emily: at least 37 people were taken to the hospital, six in critical condition. police say a female driver was traveling northbound on las vegas boulevard, when she drove up onto the sidewalk in front of the paris hotel & casino. police say she took off after the crash, but was eventually tracked down. randy: the fbi is investigating a threat that shut down the public school system today in nashua, new hampshire. the threat was sent via email, and warned that action would be taken to hurt students. the bomb squad was on campus yesterday, as a precaution.

schools, and more than 1100 students. the schools will be reopened tomorrow. the driver of this car, that ended up dangling over the charles river, is now facing charges. the car crashed into a barrier off memorial drive in cambridge near the longfellow bridge on saturday. state police say a 22-year-old boston man is charged with negligence and destruction of property. no one was hurt. emily: the man who loaned a gun to the boston marathon bombers will be sentenced tomorrow. stephen silva has pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges. during the marathon attack trial, he told the court he gave a gun to dzhokhar tsarnaev two months before the bombings. prosecutors say the gun was later used to murder mit police officer sean collier days after the attack. a memorial is set up for the teen killed in a shooting in roxbury. police say 17-year-old d' andre king-settles died after being shot on annunciation road on friday afternoon, right behind boston police headquarters. investigators are still searching for the shooter.

carter announces some sad family news. his grandson, jeremy, died in his sleep. jeremy was 28 years old. president carter made the announcement yesterday while teaching at his church in georgia. it' s unclear what led to his grandson' s death. just two weeks ago, president carter announced he was cancer free. 91 people are believed to be missing after a landslide in china. rescuers are now searching the debris, a day after a mountain of excavated soil and construction waste buried dozens of buildings. authorities say the landslide covered an area of 1 million square feet, with up to 20 feet of mud. more than 900 people have been evacuated. emily: canada hopes to double the number of syrian refugees it takes in. 25,000 refugees will be settled there by the end of february. and the immigration minister believes the country could take in up to 50,000 refugees by the end of 2016.

in canada, greeted personally by prime minister justin trudeau. randy: customers taking on an attempted robber at a guess station in florida. the armed man tried to hold up the store but the good samaritan stepped in then the clerk helped. the pair managed to wrestle the crook to the ground, and wait until police got here. police say they' re glad the suspect was caught but say it' s not a good idea to attack an armed robber. emily: the patriots overpower the titans at gillette stadium. the pats go for 79 yards in 11 plays the first time they had the ball yesterday. gronk with his 11th touchdown of the season. that that' s when 33-16, but there were some injuries. you can see danny amendola limping to the locker room he didn' t play in the second half, because of his knee. same case for dont' a hightower and patrick chung. the pats learned last night they earned a first-round playoff bye, another week to rest for the injured players.

against the new jersey devils. the b' s lone goal came during the first period last night louis eriksson in the right place at the right time. the devils tie it up, 1-1, early in the second. scoreless in overtime, so we go to a shootout. ryan spooner here on the first attempt for the bruins. the devils can' t answer back. b' s win 2-1. randy: a spectacular show in the sky near spokane, washington. you can see the northern lights just east of the city. the best time to see the lights is usually in the winter in northwestern parts of north america. but they can sometimes be seen as far south as new orleans. not quite in that radius. cindy: northern latitudes get typically the biggest treat from that. we also typically get the most snow, but not this year. we are still waiting for some snow. we' ve had barely a trace across boston, worcester, and last year

d had three inches in boston. on average today, we should have six inches of snow in the boston area. we are just four days away from breaking a 92-year-old record in worcester. the latest we' ve ever had measurable snow, about 1/10 of an inch or so, is on christmas eve back in 1923. over the next several days, i don' t see any snow. we may break that record. today, you are going to notice more clouds. windy and milder as we jump back into the 50' s. high pressure gave us the sunshine now sitting offshore. it is eventually going to bring in some of this rain that is moving through the chicago area. a dry day today, but mostly cloudy skies. mid 50' s from new york down to philly, d c as well. there isn' t a lot of cold to
