mike: we are going to be talking about the cold and the snow on the way. so far this year, we have had absolutely no score -- no snow in boston. last year, pretty dry year, 2.9 inches of snow. we are having a conversation very much like this. where is the snow? we finally got some. typically by this time of year, we should have nine inches of snow. the last first snow in boston is january 3 here that record is going to hold, because i think tomorrow night. there is the storm system. 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, we are going to have the cold air in place. remember, we' ve now got cold air. that is the one thing we' ve been missing with all of the storm systems that have come through. 3:00 in the morning, snow is breaking out across the area. we will see some mix down to the south. then this whole thing.
5:40 pm
that -- this whole thing folds over the top of us write during that morning commute. slippery roads are going to be out there. we' ve got some mix starting to form. this will try to lift its way northward. that will happen around 9:00 in the boston area. rain to the south of us and snow to the north. inland is where this takes place. we may see a freezing rain situation. the rain finally makes it up to boston around noon. that rain flowing over some cold surfaces may create icy conditions outside of 495. by the time we get to 2:00, it is pretty much rain, and then we will kick this out of here. your evening commute will be better. the snow will be winding down. there might be a slippery spot here or there. again, because cautious on that evening commute. what are we talking about?

tomorrow, snow for pretty much everyone. once we get towards the lunchtime hour, we will see some rain at the coast with sleep inland. that' s going to be an issue. the snowfall totals, 1-3 inches, 2-5 to the north, in this area here, generally 2-4. north of manchester, colder air up there. we will be holding on to the snow just a little bit more. this coating to an inch, a lot of this will wash away down to the south. the other thing we need to worry about his warm air aloft, cold air at the surface, and this is the area inland where we could get freezing rain develop. you can' t see it. it doesn' t pile up, and it takes a very thin glaze to make things slippery. watch out for these areas, fitchburg to worcester. we could see freezing rain
5:42 pm
because is about that. tomorrow, it is cold out there. 36 degrees for the morning low, and watch what happens with the temperatures. if anything, they drop down through the afternoon. despite sunshine, it will be almost 20 degrees colder tomorrow. then we get the snow to ice terrain. it will be messy out there. what happens wednesday? 44 degrees. the morning low is 34. in this case, it' s going to be warm enough wednesday night that it will be rain. but 48 degrees is not looking too bad. with temperatures pretty much in the 40' s. it looks drive. it looks like a nice evening tuesday morning is going to be the slippery one you will keep a close eye on.
