6:17 pm
we have a lot of reports of a lot of roads getting very slippery very quickly. this is really just from now through the next two hours and where you see those deem blues, that's heavy snow. in is really strong. we also saw a few thunderstorms off of nantucket. so we've got a very strong, fast system coming through. here's a band in eastern connecticut across neice rhode island. look at this area around brockton. the snow is just starting in boston and it's picking up in metro west. this has all happened really in the last few minutes. look at western connecticut. they're out of it. springfield is out of it so this band is coming right through. the back end will probably will be clearing worcester in the next hatch our -- hour or so
6:18 pm
make things very slippery. that's area from worcester to wester. they say it's just getting into boston now. focusing on this area close to taunten. you can be sure that's slowing traffic down there at this hour. here in need ham, pretty good bands of snow falling at this point. clinton is also falling pretty strong. it will get lighter withinen an hour or two and then it's going to quickly taper down after that. so it's not the amount of snow but the slippery going but the timing is not great. anywhere from a heavy colting town two inches and as you head to the waters of southeastern mass and the cape, perhaps up to a hatch inch of snow. northern new england, especially the mountains of maine gets the big amounts because the snow will get into the gulf of maine and then really start to
6:19 pm
here's where it's well below freezing but here as we get closer to beverly, boston, and even to nor who'd, when a heavy burst comes down, it knocks the temperature down several degrees. it's going to cause slippery going for a why. as we take you through temperatures for tonight. even though the snow is long gone by tomorrow mornings anything slushily tonight will become frozen because we'll have temperatures well believe fielding and strong winds to deal with. tomorrow night and thursday will be very cold as well. we're kate waiting for an arctic front to come through in the wee hours of the morning but it's that second front right now that's fiving us that -- giving us that quick burst of snow. tomorrow, very windy and combed. wind chills, single digits and teens.
6:20 pm
which is important. we'll have a storm come up the coast late friday night and a fair part of saturday. it looks like temperatures will be borderline with strong winds along the coast. how much cold air will it have to work with and what does that mean for the patriots game? right now i'd say most of the snow will be over or ending but what will have fall season hard to say but cold air should be accompanying the end of that storm so even though it wasn't snow in foxborough, it might end that way. the eminent situation is the next hour or two of bursts of snow and then the wind and the cold and the late friday night and saturday storm. >> now, "sportscenter" 5. >> do not be alarmed by rob gonk gronk -- gronkowski was not on the field at practice today.
6:21 pm
but i put all my powerball tickets on gronk play interesting saturday. a the patriots can crank up the volume on that holiday classic "it's the most wonderful time of the year." it's fun, right, tom? >> you get a full dose of it year round. i would say i'm not the easiest guy to play with. there's a lot of high expectations and i try to put a lot of pressure on everyone to get the best out of them. >> look at tom brady's resume in the postseason. won 21-29 starts. at home in fox blow, includeling the old stadium and the new one, 14-3. super bowls, been there six times, won four of them. so the patriots have their eyes on another prize and for bill belichick that means one good ey one bad eye. >> the patriots' injury bug even built the head coach, appearing
6:22 pm
left eye. we can only imagine ow that happened. >> hey, you guys -- >> i don't think we need to listen to coaches on the injury report. but i'm sure if we're required to do it, we'll do it. [laughter] >> are you hurt? we're really sorry. >> i think i'll live. >> adding insult to belichick's injury is a reminder that the last time the patriots played kansas city they were embarrassed, losing 41-14. how do you avoid a sequel? >> it was a year and a half ago so whatever you want, i'm sure there's plenty of time to ask a thousand questions about it. if you don't have access to it, i'm sure, stacy, you can get the transcripts of that. >> bad eye and tight limbed but the overall model around gillette is impruchinge along with the ankles and feet of key players. saturday will reunite tom brady and edelman if.
6:23 pm
and, the more consistent players are going to be out there the better or -- our offense is going to be. he's been one of them as long as he's been there. >> the patriots wasn't 9-0 with edelman. 3-4 without him. right now they're 0-0. let the postseason again. bob halloran, wcvb "sportscenter" 5. >> we checked in with christopher, who played peter brady on "the brady bunch." i was not playing ball at bill belichick's house. that's all i have to say on the matter. >> here's the story >> keep going. >> as far as i can go. >> coming up new at 7:00, using d.n.a. from dogs to learn more about human diseases. the research happening right now in massachusetts and how you and your pet can get involved. >> new at 11:00 tonight, a high
