the cdc says the average age for giving birth has been going up for the last 15 years. newscenter five' s antoinette antonio has more. antoinette: the average age of women having their first child has risen to 26. that' s the word from the centers from disease control and prevention. back in 2000, it was just under 25 years old. by 2014, it had risen to 26. researchers say this is partly because there are fewer mothers under the age of 20. in fact, the teen birth rate has hit an all-time low. economic factors also play a role with an increased number of women putting off motherhood for higher education or a career. this also has ramifications for the u.s. population. having children later in life means fewer child-bearing years, and therefore, fewer children. one area of concern, doctors say older women having children increases a mothers risk of complications like gestational

mike. mike: the rain snow maker is gone. it has moved way up here to the north. the sky is clearing away as we have a nice sunset. only about one third of an inch for the western part of the state. we also have some strong wind gusts. 48 mile per hour wind gusts. a breezy morning for a few hours as that nor' easter was moving its way on through. as they drop off, we are in the 20' s. there could be a few slippery spots out there. by tomorrow afternoon we will get some cloud cover moving in. i am watching what happens tomorrow night. a second system to the west also trying to give us snow.
