wi small distances possibly making big differences. but right now, the general idea that i have on this is that the track of the storm will probably keep most of the heavy snow south of boston as well as the very strongest winds but a closer path would change things. then we would wind up with heavy snow in the boston area. it's not a sure bet. again, the southern part of the area seems to be in greatest jeopardy. we also have to be concerned with the wind and tides. we'll cover that more in a little while. >> a threat at a massachusetts school is under investigation. this is hundreds of backpacks lining the sidewalk. rhondella richardson has the message from police. reporter: the message, just stop the bomb threats. nothing was found inside but every backpack, locker and classroom was checked. take a look at the pictures as

of course, all day sunday, . shore. challenge. sarah is live right now. reporter: firefighters could not get into the home because of all the clutter. you can see outside all of the yard, in front of the home spread out on the front yard. this morning what was left of the home on edith homes road. the blaze started around 7:45. first responders could not get in. they saw a man lying in a bed and went through a window to rescue him but 42-year-old sean was pronounced dead later, last night at the hospital. hoarding in this home has been an issue for years. the town of scituate did not comment. while the fire remains under investigation officials say they do not consider it suspicious. they don't think it's the result

teens, around 20. fairly close to the way it's been for the last number of nights. tomorrow will be similar to today. maybe a degree or two chillier. notice i put a little bit of cloudiness in at the beginning. the rest of the day should be bright and sunny. brisk winds, in keeping with what we had today 25. to 35. the first little disturbance, that package of snow that's moving through pennsylvania, but notice it's moving more to the east-southeast. there could be a little period of snow or flurries, not far from the nation's citol. that's not a big deal. then high pressure comes right back in. that's our dry weather for tomorrow and friday. now, the storm we're talking about is just really in formative stages. little package of snow near denver, also package of snow kansas. but as we go out in time, what's going to happen is, as it drops southeast it picks up moisture out of the gulf of mexico. and then it bumps into the colder air. so places like raleigh-durham, they may wind up with sleet and freezing rain but a good chunk

be in for quite a sizable snowstorm. that would include washington, baltimore, and philly. new york, perhaps near the northern edge of the heavy snow as well as the south coast of new england. but notice that would not be in boston as depicted here. here's another computer model showing you that early saturday, we see the snow around new york city and long island and it starts to lift northward along the south coast of new england. also notice that around the cape, there might be enough mild ocean air to create a mix but then we'll see just how far north it gets from here. this model doesn't get much further north. others bring at least the northern edge into boston. to summarize, if we get a closer pass, then we have the potential for some heavy snow and strong winds but a pass more to the south leaning more that way, then we're only near the northern edge, not as much wind or snow. but i do want to let you know, you could possibly have a situation where we don't get much in the way of snow but
