into the 40s. the wind will pic up some out time. here is the cloudiness. high, thin clouds and there will be clouds around. you will have the benefit of those milder temperatures. change is coming for later in the week. we'll talk about that and the possibilities. phil: students at an elite school protesting what they call racial intolerance. heather:kelley tuthill has more on the call to action. reporter: some students here at boston latin wore black today in protest. they are calling it a blackout. it all started last week when students at the prestigious school took to social media to accuse administrators of ignoring their racial intolerance at the school. they have problems of racial slurs and stereo types and abusive on-line taunting.

concerns to the headmaster and nothing was done. mayor walsh says they are investigating the student complaints. >> this certainly bothered me. it was something that should not happen and we have to look at what is going to happen district wide. we have to make sure the experiences our kid have in the schools shouldn't be racism. reporter: mayor walsh says he intends to meet with the students. kelley tuthill, wcvb newscenter 5. phil: harvard police have wrapped up their investigation into vandalism of portraits of black law professors without figuring out who did it. they placed black and red tape on several portraits inside the hall. the incident heightened the racial tension as you imagine at harvard. they performed a forensic examination and they could not identify a suspect. they plan to install security cameras in the building. heather:new hampshire police

robbed a convenience store. reporter: they hope it will help find the suspect. the attack happened on sunday afternoon at a concord convenience store. security photos show him entering the store and pulling a knife on the clerk behind the counter. at one point the violent encounter ensued. >> the clerk tried to defend himself with a stick. during the struggle the clerk's hand was lacerated by the suspect's knife. reporter: the clerk was not badly hurt, but was shaken up. the suspect ran away with cash and they are looking into other recent robberies to see if they may be linked to the one we just showed you. phil: police want help finding a man accused of breaking into a pizza shop. inside romano's pizza, police say he broke the front door and stole a safe from the

that washed up on a beach in thailand is probably part of a rocket launch in japan and not a missing plane. it prompted speculation that the hunk of metal may be from the malaysia air flight 370 that disappeared almost two years ago now. a japanese company said it was fairly confident the debris is from one of their rockets. phil: iran's supreme leader is speaking out about the arrest of the 10 u.s. sailors after they entered the iranian waters. the ayatollah says an act of god, in his words, is responsible for what he is calling what happened and forces. they detained them on january 12th when their boats crossed into iranian territory gulf. they were released the next morning and now back with their fleet. heather:henry warsley has died. he was 71 days into his solo mission unaided and 30 miles away from his goals.

but that's a tremendous amount. even with the milder air tomorrow this will help out, but you are not going to take those mounds of snow and melt them so quickly. much more on the snow there in the mid-atlantic than there is up here. this is where we were prior to getting our most recent snow. it is almost identical to what we had at this time last year. yet we wound up with the 10.6. of course everything started to happen tomorrow a year ago tomorrow. that's what they are talking about this year. tomorrow will be a mild and snowless day around here. right now it is 33 degrees and the wind is gentle. the winds are light around the region. so we are around the low 30s. and keep in mind if you are in an area with appreciable snow

the day and a little refreezing in spots. just be aware of that. that's especially true off to the southwest and the south of boston where the snow depths are somewhat greater. notice if we go to the south and west it is quite a bit milder. charleston, west virginia. it is 52 in knoxville, tennessee. 47 in cincinnati. just about all of us should be able to make it into the 40s and it is not out of the question that a few spots could touch or flirt with 50 degrees tomorrow. we'll drop below freezing. that's where the most snow is off the ground. now we also have clouds coming in and the clouds will be with us for tonight and tomorrow. early on wednesday it may

it doesn't look like much. that will come through a little cooler by wednesday or thursday. the high temperatures, most areas 45 to 50 degrees. then we will be turning cooler on wednesday around 40 degrees. now i want to show you the little situation potentially for thursday night and friday that we could be facing. there could be another storm developing off the coast. probably too far out to give us precipitation, but we have to watch the track. it may interact around the great lakes. even if it passes that far out you may be able to throw back moisture late thursday night or during the day on friday and more likely snow. there is a possibility of some snow on friday. the track will be critical and the temperatures overall are not as cold as the last storm. a little more border line. following that, it is not that cold. it is a little chilly on

will be back in the 40s for sunday and monday. the overall weather pattern in terms of the temperature and it will be gentler for us. heather and phil? heather:have you heard this? for the first time in 1969 the site of niagara falls will be shutdown. the shutdown is planned within three years to allow for bridge repair. the work will be done on a pair of 115-year-old bridges used by pedestrians and vehicles to access goat island in the niagara river. when the falls was shutdown to study the affects of erosion the workers found millions of coins there. so much so they had to remove them in buckets to keep people from going out on the rocks to collect them. phil: new insight into the feud between batman and superman which is good because they both should be friends. check out the trailer of batman versus superman, dawn
