another morning of delays on the rails. the eye's sera congi is live in boston with the new report adding insult to injury. sera: randy, the delays this week caused by track work on the longfellow bridge. but a new report is shining a light on some chronic problems adding to daily frustration for commuters. officials say the mbta is now behind on about $1.5 billion in upgrades or fixes for red line trains, tracks, and signals. as we've reported, the line's on-time performance struggled to beat 75% last year. and that's not the only problem this new report is exposing. ridership on the mbta is up about 6% since 2008. but ridership on the red line specifically is up nearly 15%. the report found from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 on weekdays many stations attract more riders than the line can handle. the good news-- data shows the "t" did break down less often

erika: welcome back. remember this? how could you forget! january 26 of 2015 was the beginning of our snow blitz. this was worcester one year ago in the aftermath of that storm. 24.6 inches was recorded at logan airport, making it one of the top 10 biggest snowstorms on record in boston. randy: as we've been watching what happened in the mid atlantic, we're thinking we've been there. danielle: been there done that. almost a year ago that been there done that. we didn't get as much snow this weekend as parts of the mid atlantic did. our snowfall to date is 11.4 inches so far in worcester. you saw that video last year.
4:42 am
they were up to 20.1 inches of snow. but on normal average we should be around 30.9 inches of snow in worcester. remember last season was 119 inches there and 105 inches in boston. obviously that was the sixth largest snowstorm we've seen in boston of all time. let's talk about what is going on right now and for this week. we are talking about the chance for some rain showers today. obviously in the form of rain as temperatures warm up especially this afternoon and this evening for the south coast and southeastern mass. we're dry tomorrow. but notice i put in a chance for some snow showers come thursday night into friday. and this is from a potential ocean storm. we're going to talk more about that one in just a second. let's talk about today first. we have this area of low pressure here you see. a cold front. you see some showers already out ahead of this associated with the warm frontal boundary. so this morning there could be one or two patchy areas of drizzle especially here in western mass near the berkshires. because we're right around freezing, it could be in the
4:43 am
please be careful out in western mass. other than that, we're waking up to some clouds and temperatures aren't so bad this morning. we're in the upper 20's in worcester. 30 in boston. but look at the cape. 37 in hyannis. 40 degrees right now on nantucket. let's see. as we go through the next 12 hours, say, on the south coast and the cape, we're going to warm up into the upper 40's and low 50's today. so you folks that got the most snow this weekend definitely a good day for some melting to happen as we reach 49 in boston, nantucket. the other thing you're going to notice today is those winds are going to be gusty out of the south and west at about 10-20 miles an hour. so here we go. here's that chance for that patchy drizzle this morning. but as we go through the afternoon, we're cloudy. here is that second chance for some showers, i think. it could be a little sooner than 9:00. i think we could see some around boston, say, 3:00 to 5:00, but by 9:00 they're at the cape and the islands. then they exit the region. we dry out for wednesday.
4:44 am
tomorrow we're back into the 40's and then we're watching that potential ocean storm. so let's talk all about this in the seven-day forecast. we're 41 degrees on wednesday. we're still breezy and kiehler. once we get towards thursday and friday, that's where we're going to watch that chance for snow showers or maybe even flurries if this doesn't link up at all. there's an upper disturbance that will move through. there's that ocean storm so we have to watch the timing. we're going to have to see if they actually link up. right now it looks like models are indicating they won't. however, he could see still see a couple of showers and flurries around because of that other disturbance up to the north. this track is going to be very critical. a shift in the models could mean we potentially see accumulating snow. right now it looks like just flurries or light snow showers we're looking at. either way, it's very progressive. it goes by quickly. this weekend looks pretty good. kevin: get the warm weather today and wash some of the snow away to prepare for more snow. the new england way.

area roadways, danielle. thank you very much. downtown they're picking up the work crews on 93 coming out of somerville and heading towards that zakim bridge. the callahan tunnel still has the left lane blocked inside. that should be out of the way before you get there if you're just leaving the house right now. a couple trouble spots early on. let's go on the maps. one of them is up in woburn. 128 northbound we've got a truck that went off the road here. off to the right. sounds like he's just in the break-down lane but traffic seems to be getting by without any trouble at all. no trouble on the upper end of 93, route 3, or 95 new hampshire. our other trouble spot, this one we could watch for the morning. southbound on the expressway we have a jack-knifed tractor trailer taking out the right lane and the breakdown lane. it's on the southbound side. as that traffic starts to heat up, you may be able to see it from the northbound side. that could real he jam things up here early on. that's your traffic. erika, back to you. erika: kevin, thank you. a criminal investigation in michigan over flint's growing water crisis. the state's top prosecutor is now expressing outrage that

and near 50 degrees if not above in spots by the afternoon. one of the reasons why is we're going to have a gusty wind out of the south and west at about 10-20 miles an hour. that's associated with this area of low pressure you see here. already bringing in some rain showers and some freezing rain into parts of central new york. all of this is headed in our direction. so there could be a couple of hit-or-miss showers as we head through the afternoon and evening although we have a lot of dry air above us so not everyone is going to see that rain. but we're dry on wednesday. and then thursday and friday, we bump up the chance for some flurries or even some snow showers from an approaching system. let me show you this on the future cast. reinforcing shot of cold air comes in wednesday night into thursday. that sets up for next our system. we'll have this clipper system diving down. then we're watching this ocean storm. right now it looks like they're not going to link up so that would mean less in terms of snow, talking about maybe some flurries if anything at all. but if they were to link up, we
