>> from boston' s news leader, this is wcvb newscenter five at noon. emily: good afternoon and thanks for joining us. i' m emily riemer. erika: and i' m erika tarantal. here' s a look at some of the stories we' re following right now. two people are in boston hospitals, one with life threatening injuries, after a car hits them and keeps going. police found the car a short time later. they say one of the victims had been dragged for miles. emily: a 3-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being taken to the hospital from his roxbury home with some kind of trauma.

street house for most of the night. erika: and it is decision day in iowa. the caucuses are tonight. turnout is expected to be high as the candidates continue stumping in the state up until the very last minute. right now, a sandwich woman preparing to face a judge, accused of hitting two people in chinatown, dragging one of them for miles. emily: the details of this case are pretty disturbing. that one victim is not likely to survive. newscenter 5' s frank holland is live outside the courthouse in boston. frank? frank: that 44-year-old driver is expected to be arraigned any here at boston municipal court. at this time, she is only facing two counts of leaving the scene of collision. as investigators continue to piece together this bazaar is bizarre incident, she is likely to face other charges. and a car at this intersection. after the crash, one of those victims dragged miles away according to police. police say zhou ying jo of

man and a 48-year-old woman. kneeland and harrison in chinatown at around 1:45 this morning. the man was found at the scene and treated for non-life threatening injuries. however, police say the woman was found 3 miles away on columbia road near i-93 at 2:15 they say the woman was somehow trapped as the car left the initial crash scene. police believe zhou drove southbound on i-93. the 48-year-old woman apparently pinned as the car travelled on local roads and the highway. again, she is to be arraigned at boston municipal court sometime collision. but more charges could be brought up your . frank holland, newscenter 5. emily:

canceled. threats. classes are continued as police perform sweeps as a caution. erika: a little boy from roxbury, just three-years-old, is rushed to the hospital suffering what police describe as life threatening trauma. s kelley tuthill is we' ve learned so far. kelley: the boston police remain inside the home as the have all have all night long. other than that, no explanation for what happened last night. police were called to the alpine suffering from trauma. they took a three-year-old boy by andy wants to boston medical center, suffering from what is injuries. we did speak to one neighbor who just told us that she did not hear anything last night nor has house. she has seen little children,

no explanation on what happened and no update on the child' s conditions. kelley tuthill, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: two women in worcester expected to face a judge today after children were found to be living in filth at their home. newscenter 5' s doug meehan is live this morning at the worcester courthouse with the charges against them. doug? doug: we are still waiting the arraignment of two worcester one one and on drug connections. kids found in this house of squalor is wanting custody. on friday, a search warrant was served at this home. the home was infested with mice, animal feces, and garbage. they also say the oxycodone pills, marijuana, ask for distributing drugs, and $3400 of cash was found in the home. s children are now in

the grandmother telling me inside the court that she is filing paperwork to get custody of those two children. a third child, a five-year-old, was also found inside of that home. that is a cousin. that child is not in dcf custody. that child is in the custody of his mother. live in worcester, doug meehan, newscenter 5. erika: we turn now to the weather and what else do you say? emily: it seems too good to be true. this february comeback ever? cindy: the temperatures have stored under sunshine and a strong westerly wind. not much of a snowpack out there at all. we are in the 60' s right now. boston is 63 currently. so is marshfield. you can see we are running at 64 degrees currently in the word and bedford could -- in norwood and bedford. we are close to the record highs

the record in boston was 66 setback in 1989. in worcester, the record is 61 so we will be close. want to go west of the worcester area and you can see how the winds shift and there is a cold front working through. once this goes by and the wind to a screeching halt. they have done that and worcester because the clouds are starting to work in. there' s really not much in the way of shower activity, but i think the clouds will increase getting into boston at around 2:00 or 4:00 p.m. and notice how we will fall back into the 40' s and 30' s overnight. very warm the rest of the afternoon. clouds will be increasing and there might be one or two loan sprinkles down around the cape, but it' s not as warm tomorrow. we will take you to the rest of the week coming up to . erika: commitment 2016 -- all eyes on iowa today.

the home stretch with just hours left until tonight' s caucuses. emily: abc' s lana zak is in des moines with the candidates' final push to these critical first in the nation votes. [applause] lana: after some 1500 rallies -- >> linton and bush. lana: and $33 million spent, it is decision time in iowa. a new quinnipiac poll out today has donald trump widening his iowa lead. >> you have to be a little bit nervous. you know, i like to win and i want to win for the country. lana: polls are not votes and a third of likely caucus voters say they are undecided or may still change their mind. that is bad news for ted cruz, who has been sliding in the polls. with just hours to go, he is criticized for sending out this mailer. many saying it is deceptive. and marco rubio is still hot on the campaign trail today, trying to learn voters away from the 10 other republican candidates. >> someone going to a caucus site tonight and there is a

they say there have been several incidents where someone threw small engine parts out of a moving vehicle into oncoming traffic. the objects have also been thrown at parked cars and homes. no one has been hurt, but damage was reported. erika: right now, a weymouth firefighter is under investigation all over a facebook post about drug addicts. weymouth' s mayor, fire chief, and other officials are holding a meeting after that facebook firefighter' s personal facebook account. drug narcan " the worst drug ever created." the post suggests letting overdose victims die. department' s official facebook page, some calling the comments disgraceful. we talked to one man who drove straight to the fire department. he lost his son, a veteran, to

his lawyer sent letters to jurors in the case, wanting to know if they were influenced by the mass shooting at sandy hook elementary as they deliberated in december of 2012. the d.a. says the letters are intimidating jury members and she wants him banned from communicating with the panel. emily: right now, two virginia tech students are held without bail, charged in the murder of a 13-year-old girl. 18-year-old david eisenhauer is charged with the kidnapping and murder of nicole madison lovell. police say he knew the victim, who allegedly climbed out of her window and disappeared on wednesday. her body was found on saturday, about 100 miles away from her home in blacksburg, virginia. this woman, 19-year-old napoli keepers, -- natalie keepers, was also arrested, charged with helping eisenhauer dispose of the girl' s body. erika: right now, we are hoping to get new answers in last may' s deadly crash involving an amtrak train. today, investigators are expected to release evidence that could explain why the train was speeding into a sharp curve when it derailed near

it reached 106 miles an hour the emergency brakes. eight people were killed and more than 200 were injured in the crash. erika: the mbta is dealing with a slew of problems with its new " the globe" trains had such problems with frozen engines and overheating that they had to be sent back to a pennsylvania facility for tests. the 40 new locomotives started running in 2014 at a cost of about $222 million. the mbta is now working with manufacturers to fix at least nine defects, but the t says the new engines are more reliable than the old ones and have been decreasing delays. the t is set to hold its next round of public meetings on fare hikes. two meetings are set for today in boston, another on thursday in newton. one plan calls for a system-wide increase of 6.7%, another for nearly 10%. a decision is expected at the end of the public sessions and would take effect in july. emily: right now, the world health organization is holding

there is a frontal boundary in the process of crossing our area right now. once this front goes through, the wind shift to the northwest and it will start that cooling process. the warming is kind of number for the next hour or two across eastern massachusetts. there is still a lot of sunshine right now. leading up to the clouds associated with this frontal boundary and closing in on 495 right now. i think we will get close to the record high in boston. about 65 degrees. hold just sigh and the worcester area as well. highs. by 4:00 this afternoon. really little moisture. the best chance of seeing a shower from this front is going to be here down along the south an uptick in moisture off the ocean. showers few far between and they are gone by 10:00 tonight. skies are clear on that front overnight.

20' s two around the freezing mark for morning low temperatures. no 50' s or 60' s tomorrow. it is in the 40' s, 10 degrees above average for this time of year. it is bright and sunny for your groundhog day with high-pressure nosing and. we will take attention to the storm for wednesday. it is going to the west, throwing a lot of warm air in our direction. back to the 50' s on wednesday. the storm is approaching during the morning hours so we could see a few showers for the morning commute. the bulk of the rain comes in the lunchtime and in the afternoon. you cannot rule out a rumble of thunder and the winds could gust out of the southwest at 40 miles per hour. the showers kind of taper off wednesday night and will be clearing on thursday. more than an inch of rain out of this. as we head toward the end of the week, the front stalls offshore and an area of low pressure develops along that could the storm look sick it will have an impact on us. we will keep it dry on friday,

back to the mid-30' s, which will seem chilly, but keep in mind that' s average for this time of year. spring in february, at least for now. erika: hailing a taxi in boston just got easier. a new app is launching to help you get a ride. that at -- the app curb makes its debut in the city next week. it links smartphone users to a network of about 600 taxis in the boston area, but the taxi industry says the app is still not enough to compete with rideshare services like uber and lyft. general motors is kicking into gear to get self-driving cars onto the road. the company has created a team to focus on that specific goal and they start work today. other companies, including similar cars. engineering students. the group won a huge competition for the right to build a hyperloop to move pods of people at high speed. the initial concept came from the co-founder of spacex and tesla motors. more than 100 universities competed in the event. the transport pods will be tested on a special track in
