hitting two people under the car. ed: jack harper has the breaking details. reporter: the driver used to live in chinatown. we were told she was visiting friends when the accident happened at 2:00 in the morning. two people were hit and an absolutely terrible accident. the couple that was hit there included a 56-year-old man who went down and according to the prosecutor they were listed in stable condition. the woman he was with was dragged 3.3 miles under the car, under this woman's car. she was in court and covered her face. she was cuffed by her attorney and had a coat over her head. on the way out the attorney said she denies initially hitting the couple. impact. there was another car in front of her so it is possible the other car hit these two

the other woman was dragged by my client's car. reporter: the defendant is being held on $5,000 bail because according to her attorney she was indigent and not able to post the bail. the woman according to the prosecutor is improving somewhat, but still in critical condition. they were able to save her arms. there were indications that she may lose her arms. they believe they can save those. extremely critical conditions and the investigation continues. wcvb newscenter 5. ed: a firefighter success spended after making an inappropriate facebook post regarding open -- opioids and narcan. >> here are the details. reporter: effective immediately he is suspended for 90 days without pay. the fire chief says he has been with the fire department for several years and he has a

america is -- americas in the next year. they convened in an emergency meeting of independent experts to assess that outbreak. the virus is spread by mosquitoes and believed to cause birth defects. the last public emergency was for the ebola outbreak. they learned critical lessons from that deadly crisis. wcvb newscenter 5. jc: a little boy just three years old rushed to the hospital suffering life-threatening trauma. rhondella richardson is live with new details in the investigation. rhondella? reporter: the little boy was rushed out unconscious and very critical. he is suffering what is undisclosed serious injury. the little boy's name is kanai white and the department of children and families had an open case on him before he was injured in his home last night

and his 5-month-old sister into state custody. police haven't said what happened in the second floor home. >> it breaks my heart. i know they have to get to the bottom of it. reporter: police responded to the home after 9:30 last night. the 3-year-old was transported to boston medical center. no one has been charged, but police and the district attorney say this is a very active investigation. police officers are still inside the home. live in roxbury, rhondella richardson, wcvb newscenter 5. ed: this is video where the middle high school was dismissed early and all activities canceled. police are investigating. lexington also received a row -- robocall threats. ed:take you to plymouth where two people were taken to hospital.

a post office and neighboring business. the driver of the car and a woman inside the building were hurt and are expected to be okay. jc: a man accused of shooting another man in manchester, name appeared in court. he is charged with first degree assault and possession of a firearm. investigators found a boston man shot in the neck when they were called last thursday. >> he struck him in the face with a hard metal object. a semiautomatic handgun and in parenthesises, pistol whipping and knocking a tooth out. >> he is being held on $60,000 cash bail. ed: police are looking for this piece of art. somebody made off with this framed pencil drawing from the new hampshire institute of art.

keeps the doctor away. they may have been on to something. mom and dad told you to eat your fruits and veggies. now we know why. it is the fiber. if you are female, listen up. new research out of harvard tell us women who eat more fiber as teens and young adults may have a lower risk of breast cancer later in life. in a group of 45,000 women those who ate more fiber were less likely to end up with breast cancer. there was a 13% decrease in breast cancer risk. scientists think eating more dietary fiber is good for you and might decrease breast cancer risk. this study suggests starting a high fiber diet may make a difference. ed: it has been 13 years since the destruction of the space set tell columbia. columbia broke apart during its re-entry in 2003. columbia was the first of nasa's orbiter fleet.

california lead to a mess on highways. this is state highway 58 on sunday. several accidents reported and one car even flipped over a railing. after the snow stopped there is a concern for icing. it also brought cooler weather and snow to nevada. slick roads caused a 29-vehicle croosh on i-80 along the -- crash on the i-80 along with california. ed: i remember the days it used to snow around here and get cold. you look across the country and there is a big chunk of snow in denver. harvey: if you look where that is headed it is on its way to iowa. it is slow in getting there. ed: it won't disrupt the caucuses in iowa. harvey: i think some could get into western iowa. most isy evaporating before reaching the ground. we have temperature changes underway. ed: of course.

it will stay that way? we wish. 65 in boston and really it exceeded even all of our estimation as to how warm it was going to become. 65 in boston was one shy. you do see colder air off to north we. a piece of that and not all of it is starting to settle in. it is going to be chillier tonight and tomorrow. even that will still represent temperatures a little above the average. midweek the warmth comes right back up again. this time along with the storm system. so we have already dropped a dozen degrees in boston from the high temperature today. it is a lot cooler off to the north and west. still 50 in nashua and 50 in lawrence. the cape is in the 40s and 50s as well. as you are headed out to work and the kids are headed to

twenties and low 30sy that time. not too much wind. gentle out of the northwest. tomorrow afternoon in the 40s might make 50, but for the most part we are talking cooler. the front that came through has a little moisture pooling through the southern edge. the only place i can see it reaching the ground is around a jfk air -- airport in new york. maybe a few sprinkles or light rain. high pressure is in control for tomorrow. that's for tomorrow. then the next storm system is on the way. because of the counter clockwise circulation it draws up another wind. late wednesday into wednesday degrees. downpours will be accompanying that particular warm up. here is a closer look showing a touch of rain around

the clouds will return early on wednesday and then we get the rain. how much rain can we get? probably more in western mass as opposed to eastern mass. we could be under an inch and they could be over an inch. there could be locally heavier amounts because it will come in the form of downpours. tomorrow about 45 degrees. wednesday right back up to 55. later in the day and through a good chunk of the night. as it tracks to the west it draws the warmth and brings the wet weather our way. when that moves off the coast we start to cool off. it will be a gradual process and there may be a small storm and it could bring chilly rains or mix on thursday, thursday night and then chillier weather and right on through the upcoming weekend. the next significant storm after that could occur
