rhondella richardson is live in roxbury. reporter: more went in the front door and out came two bags of evidence. police have been here all day after a 3-year-old was taken out of the second floor home unconscious and very critical. >> the department of children and families had an open case on 3-year-old white before police responded to the call in his alpine street home. the boy suffered an undisclosed serious injury. dcf took the injured 3-year-old and his 5-month-old sister into state custody. the little girl is not injured. >> i see them coming and going. >> police haven't said what happened to the 3-year-old boy. >> it breaks my heart. you think all kind of things. >> the 3-year-old was rushed to boston medical center. >> it saddens me.

it is cooler to the north and west. this is the first day of february. this is not really very cold air as we normally would see. we are in the process of starting to turn cooler or chillier. you will be able to handle it i'm sure. 52 now in boston. winds are out of the west. we drop into the 40s north and west from keen to jaffrey and orange all in the 40s at this time. low 50s from plymouth across tomorrow morning as you are heading out though the wind won't be that strong, just five to 10 miles an hour, it will be in the upper 20s to low 30s. that's different than the mid60s we enjoyed today. tomorrow afternoon will be in the low 40s. it could approach 50 or so in providence. still above the average, but chillier than today. what a sunset. did you notice that where you are? look at this picture from kevin.

when you get the high, thin cirrus clouds. the clouds are thicker near the south coast. that's where the front that represents the leading edge of the somewhat chillier air is moving through and a little moisture is pooling. you can see little yellows and that rain may be reaching the ground. it is possible that there will be a brief period of rain tonight. but the bulk will move rapidly offshore. a bigger storm is occurring and that's across the plain states. actually there are blizzard warnings beginning at 3:00 a.m. that is not until the wee hours of the morning. also being impacted by the storm, a portion of south dakota and a portion of minnesota and a portion of nebraska. we eventually will feel that storm, but we will be on the warm side as it tracks to the west of us and drives warm air right back up here wednesday afternoon and wednesday evening and also bringing some downpours and locally heavy rain at that time.

and we are in the 40s. the wet weather will be mostly moving in during wednesday night. you can see the time line and now you can see the rain approaching and then coming in right around a the time of the evening commute. heavier downpours until midnight. then it tends to slide offshore. then there will be left over clouds until we turn cooler and then we turn colder. the end of the week and this weekend we'll take the temperatures back to average or maybe even a little below average which will be a shock to the system after the 65-degree rete -- readings. stormy here. it may gee -- it may be getting interesting. leonard. >> now, sports center 5 with mike lynch. >> hi, everybody, welcome back to the garden. we'll get to that in a moment.
