we have the potential for also the potential for a little starts to clear out. we would talk about how much to expect and take you through the rest of the weekend into the weekend coming up. emily: sounds good. thank you. now commitment 2016 -- donald in iowa, claiming ted cruz stole the caucus win. trump posted several tweets this morning claiming cruz put out a release that said gop contender ben carson was dropping out of the race, urging caucus voters to give their support to cruz. he also claims cruz sent out voter violation certificates to thousands of voters. he went on to tweet this -- "either a new election should take place, or cruz results nullified." so far, the cruz camp has not responded. erika: another gop contender is out of the race. senator rand paul has suspended his presidential bid. but the rest of the gop field is stumping in new hampshire. newscenter 5' s kelley tuthill is live there. and kelley, a busy morning for

kelley: it sure is. just about all of those candidates making their way around the state -- all except one. republican front-runner donald trump headed to arkansas after picking up the endorsement of former senator scott brown in new hampshire last night. trump took to twitter to call for a do-over of the iowa caucuses, accusing the winner, senator ted cruz, of fraud. cruz held a town hall in henniker. senator cruz: you want to know how we shocked, all the pundits, the media in iowa? we had people that did not just show up, they brought nine other people. kelley: buoyed by his third-place iowa finish, senator marco rubio made his case to voters in bow. sen. rubio: i give us the best chance to win. if you don' t believe me, ask a democrat. they do not want to run against me. of all the republicans in the race, they know if i' m our nominee, they lose. kelley: the republican field got smaller with kentucky senator

new hampshire, but clinton has pulled out a surprise victory there before in 2008. bernie sanders and hillary clinton will face-off in new hampshire tomorrow night for a debate their final showdown in before the primary next tuesday. emily: new at noon, a milton man is now charged with rape after an alleged assault on the bridgewater state university campus. the plymouth county da' s office says a grand jury indicted musa sandi on one count of rape today. the female victim says sandi assaulted her at on-campus apartment back in october. sandi is free on bond. no word on when he' ll be back in court. right now, a sentencing hearing is underway for a driver accused of fueling a deadly crash. antoinette antonio is live. and tonight: we just received -- and 20: we just received -- antoinette: we just received a sentence -- one year in jail and 2000 hours of community service

2013. this came after an emotional day, and emotional morning, including victim impact statements, including a the deal from the most severely impacted victim' s family. 20-year-old nicholas pop that up list walked into the room this morning. he was found guilty for causing the crash that injured several people. that included a man in the car that he had on jamaica plains arbor way. kevin is now confined to a wheelchair. he is a father of three. he cannot walk, talk, or eat because of his injuries. his youngest on -- youngest son was just eight weeks old at the time of the crash. they were leaving the courtroom as the heartbreaking video statement was shown, including clips of jason before he was injured pair we also heard from the mother of a passenger in the car and the teenager suffered a traumatic brain injury and can never -- no longer walk.

had asked that he served jail time as well as community service related to victims of traumatic brain injuries. once again, the breaking news -- the news we got a couple of minutes ago -- he will serve one year in jail and has been ordered to 2000 hours of community service. ll hear from those victims later on today on newscenter 5. that is the latest. wcvb newscenter 5. erika: thank you. in just hours, the longtime girlfriend of convicted mobster james "whitey" bulger heads back catherine greig is expected to plead guilty to contempt she' s accused of refusing to give information about people who helped bulger during his 16 years on the run. greig is already serving 8 years for helping him avoid capture. emily: new at noon, the red sox confirm a popular bar across the street from fenway park will not who' s on first has been closed since an mbta conductor was shot and killed outside the bar

prosecutors say the alleged shooter and another man got into a fight and started firing weapons at each other on yawkey way. 29-year-old jephthe chery was struck and killed. right now, two investigations are underway into the death of a roxbury boy after he was rushed to the hospital. boston police and the department of children and families are both looking into what happened, -- happened before three-year-old kenai whyte was taken to the hospital sunday with traumatic injuries. dcf says they spoke with a caretaker two days before the incident. that person claimed the boy was clean and well-fed. so far, no charges have been filed. erika: bill cosby is in a pennsylvania court for a second day trying to get the criminal sex assault case against him thrown out. a decision could come as early as today. lawyers for cosby argue he has immunity due to an agreement with a previous district attorney. that former d.a. testified tuesday. he did agree not to prosecute cosby in exchange for testimony , but never put it in writing over cosby'

the current d.a. argues any past agreement would need to be in writing for charges to be dismissed. prosecutors are dropping the case against three men linked to a case involving the shooting of a high school student because of a lack of evidence. police say the suspects were spotted leaving the roxbury apartment belonging to former english high dean, shaun harrison is charged with shooting the teenager in the head over drugs. the teen survived. harrison faces trial in may. emily: a local town is warning parents now about whooping three fifth graders in norwell have been diagnosed. s two different elementary schools. it is not recommended that classmates take antibiotics. but parents are urged to watch for symptoms, including prolonged cough and vomiting. boston public schools are cancelling international field trips to countries impacted by the mosquito-borne illness. --

school leaders saying they just can' t risk the dangerous consequences. the zika virus has been spreading rapidly in south america. in a memo obtained by the boston herald, boston' s assistant superintendent says they' ll work with schools to cancel trips to any impacted regions. erika: an update right now on the helicopter crash that killed 12 u.s. marines including a massachusetts man. the marine corps says trace elements of dna were found during search and rescue operations off the coast of hawaii. the dna identified some of the victims. it' s not clear which ones. 23-year-old marine corporal christopher orlando of hingham was on one of the choppers that crashed last month. right now, authorities say one person has died after a plane ripped open in mid-air. a body was found in mogadishu, where the plane departed. sources tell cnn the body likely fell from the plane, after a hole was blown into it. there' s no sign of criminal action. passengers on the flight say they heard a loud bang, and saw smoke before the cabin de-pressurized.

announcer: you are watching newscenter 5 at noon. erika: two senior military leaders say women should be required to register for the draft. the recommendation comes after the defense department lifted bans on combat jobs for women. the marine corps commandant told a senate hearing all physically fit americans should register for the draft. the army chief of staff agreed. right now only men between the ages of 18 and 26 living in the

selective service system. they could be called into service in the event a draft is re-established. emily: payroll figures just released show the number of salaries is up 25%. more than 13,000 employees made that' s about 10% of all workers on the state pay roll, according to "the globe." the state' s highest paid employee is the umass men' s basketball coach who made over a , million dollars in salary and other compensation last year. erika: another blow for boston-based draftkings. the fantasy sports company says it will end operations in hawaii. last week, that state' s attorney general ruled the games offered by draftkings and rival, fanduel, are illegal gambling. in a statement, the company said they disagree with the ruling and hope to work with lawmakers in hawaii to return to the state. erika: new trouble for chipotle. the company says a federal criminal probe linked to a food-safety incident at a california restaurant is now national.
