connecticut. further west you have around i-91, some heavy rain bands also moving east and well south of boston, we've got strong rain also falling around south middleboro and moderate there is still a lot of rain. it looks like the heaviest for the most part will be to the stout and very late tonight it temporarily. tomorrow morning's commute looks wettest around the cape and the islands. deeper into the day tomorrow the northwest to southeast but then a second storm, very late tomorrow night and friday morning, looks like it may impact southeastern mass and the cape as it turns colder. cold enough for rain to mix and change to snow and a winter storm watch has been posted for that area. more coming up on that in a while. >> new at 5:30, we're learning more about the death of 5-year-old boy. >> he disappeared for four months in 2013. his body later found in the woods. sarah has new information that was just revealed.

>> it's been nearly two years since the body of jeremiah oliver was found in a suitcase off the highway. the 5-year-old was reported missing in december of 2013. but by that point he hadn't been three months. >> his mother, elsa, and her boyfriend, were both indicted for kidnapping and assault. but so far, no one has answered for jeremiah's death. now a finalized death certificate shows the medical examiner has ruled the case as a homicide. >> miguel of fitchburg helped to organize search parties when went missing. >> even with a finding of homicide, the death certificate shows how jeremiah was killed could not be determined. she says for him and other volunteers, who searched for the little boy, justice should still be served. >> no matter what it was, it was

still need to be brought up and justice needs to be done. >> we reached out to the worcester d.a.'s office to see if there are any plans to file new charges along with these new findings. we've not yet heard back. sarah, wcvb, newscenter 5. >> fire damaged a building early this morning. flames sparked at this business and apartment building on west main about 5:00 a.m. the cause is under investigation tonight but everyone did make it out safely. >> payroll figures just released show the number of state workers making a six figure salary is up 25%. more than 13,000 employees made $100,000 or more last year. that's about 10% of all workers on the state's payroll. the state's highest paid employee is the u mass men's basketball coach, kellogg, who made over a million in salary and other compensation last year. >> a scam warning from the irs. taxpayers are being warned to watch out for fake emails or websites looking to steal personal information. the agency warned scammers may

chain is now inside a new target market. cvs opened its first pharmacy inside a target store in charlotte, north carolina. cvs agreed to pay almost $2 billion to acquire the business. all of target's pharmacies are now in the process of being rebranded. patient records from target are being transferred over to cvs. home depot is getting ready for spring. announcing that it's hiring 80,000 workers. 1,800 in boston. home depot says these are full time, part time, and seasonal positions. and the subway's foot long sub is getting more expensive. $6 a sandwich. subway says the increase was necessary because of added costs. the sandwich chain launched the $5 campaign back in 2007. >> are you sitting down. there is even more research tonight that being sedentary could increase your risk of developing diabetes. >> sedentary jobs, millions of

come home, we sit there too. >> like it or not you've all heard that sitting around has consequences for your health. now, a new study suggesting the desk chair and recliner may be tied to a higher risk of -- of diabetes or metabolic syndrome. they wore these devices 24/7 for eight days straight. researchers also tested these participants for diabetes. >> what they found -- those who spent an extra hour per day being sedentary were 22% more likely to already be diabetic. >> they found a 39% higher likelihood that a subject had metabolic syndrome with each additional hour they were inactive. that's a diabetes precursor, with increased about national fat, bat cholesterol and blood pressure. new research finds heart disease continues to be a top killer of

it claims the lives of moore than 600,000 people in the nation annually. the symptoms are very different for the genders. women tend to get palpitations, shortness of breath, sharp chest pains. men tend to suffer heavy feeling, chest pain that radiates to the arm or jaw or shortness of breath. there has been a decrease in cardiovascular mortality in the last decade. >> take a look. these intense flames trapping a little girl, forcing her to make a desperate choice. but thankfully, she had some heroic help on her side. 9-year-old sophia was home alone in her new jersey apartment when the fire broke out. flames quickly consumed the building leaving her with one choice. the third floor balcony. so with three police officers waiting below, she took a leap of faith. >> i didn't know what to do and i just listened to them. i just jumped. >> she was the most confident brave little kid that i have ever met.

she says it like nothing. she jumped and she's fine. her family lost almost everything in the fire but they are thankful for the bravery that saved her life. >> she's the most important thing. she got out. >> good for her. >> the other is just stuff. >> can be replaced that she wasn't frozen with fear like many of us would be. >> amazing. >> bravery, thank goodness for her bravery. we still have her. we still have dry weather in boston for the moment. that's not going to last much longer. it's kind of closing in. that little area of dryness because there is heavy rain now moving through worcester. all the way on down to providence and a wider look shows you that band as it's building east-northeast. also it's intensifying to the north of springfield. i want to take you out hour by hour. 6:00, the rain just on boston's doorstep. by 7:00, the heavy rain is moving into boston as well as metro west on down to northernryry. eastern connecticut, and then it moves still, another band following it so the heaviest bands of rain for boston are

from about 6:00 till about 9:00 tonight. after that the rains moves east although still heavy on the cape. tomorrow morning's commute, could still be band of rain. the heaviest band is likely to be around the cape and the islands. what happens after that? after the rain exits the cape, by late tomorrow morning or midday, we see everything kind of moving northwest to southeast. and for boston, north and west, skies may bright an little bit. but there is going to be another wave of low pressure coming up for late tomorrow night and friday morning. mostly to affect southeastern mass and cape cod. as it turns colder, possibly just cold enough to cause that rain to mix with or change over to snow, as we get toward dawn on friday and well into friday morning, before it then moves off for friday afternoon. there can be some accumulation if it breaks. the national weather service has issued a winter storm watch for southeastern mass and the cape for very late tomorrow night until friday at 3:00 p.m. here's one computer model kind

inch band of snow. that's probably a pretty reasonable estimate. i was thinking the potential is there for two to four inches. there is always the chance there could be more if cold air comes in quicker and the storm lasts long enough but that's probably a sensible approach at this point, and we'll see how things go as we get closer to that. in the meantime, it's so warm, temperatures in the 50s, it's rising steadily, with strong southerly winds gusting to 30 or more. i'm estimating boston will climb to about 58 at least which would be close to the record. worcester at 54 but it may be higher than that we'll show you some of the different cities and show you how things may move. here's one computer sxwroex taking boston to 62 degrees at 11:00 tonight. worcester, about 60. and look how warm it stays for early tomorrow morning. ridiculously warm for this time of year. then temperatures are steady or fall slowly for the rest of tomorrow. see how it turns chillier by friday morning.

southeastern mass and the cape, if that rain does indeed last long enough it could mix with or change over to snow with some small accumulation. next seven days, you know the story tomorrow, friday, it clears up in the afternoon. seasonable weather this weekend. in terms of temperature. monday and tuesday, the time period we have to watch. what's going to happen is, first there will be an ocean storm pretty far out. for let's say sunday night and monday. might brush us or give us snow flurries. monday night and tuesday, a second storm could come up and replace it. we have to watch that time period very, very carefully. i would say late sunday night, monday, monday night, and tuesday. can't be too specific how things will break down because if they don't come together the right way, then we will not wind up with substantial snow accumulation. that's obviously impossible to say with something that complex in this how things will break particular time frame. >> thank you. imagine millions of items from public libraries, historical societies, museums and private collections waiting for you,
