8:44 am
let's talk about storm system number one. we are going to stay dry today and warm, in the low to mid 40's. should help to melt the snow. watch after midnight tonight. here we go. by 8:00, the snow is flying on the cape and the islands. even in boston and worcester potentially. and then as we head deeper to about lunchtime or so, we start to see that snow back all the way as far west as the berkshires. all the way as far north as southern new hampshire. and the snow is really starting to fly on the south shore and the cape at a heavy clip. it's going to continue through the afternoon, may lighten up into central mass at some time. but most of the time it's pretty heavy and steady along the south shore. it continues wind on down by tuesday morning although tuesday morning's commute could still be a rough go of it. now when all is said and done, outside of the city of worcester in this lighter blue color, 2-4 inches. the farther west you get and north, you may see less in terms of the totals. you get inside of 495, you also

you're seeing 4-7 inches in boston. the cape and areas as well as down around rhode island and also out toward the outer cape. however, there will be a bull's eye area in here where i think ocean enhancement could lead to seven inches or more and potentially upwards of 10 inches to a foot in some locations. so be aware of that. it's not just the snow. it's also the winds. we could experience near blizzard-like conditions on the cape, islands and maybe even in plymouth. the winds will be very strong. we're also talking about that wind piling up the water. coastal flooding will be an issue. that could lead to some power outages especially in southeastern mass where that snow will be a heavier, wetter snow as temperatures will be right around freezing. so wind gusts in excess of 45 miles an hour on is cape as well as along the coastal regions of the south shore and cape ann. wind gusts in excess of 35 miles an hour in boston. that could lead to the potential for some power outages in this

excess of 45 miles an hour at times. then you pile up that water. tides are astronomically high. we're watching that 11:00 a.m. high tide for maybe some minor coastal flooding. and then as we head towards tuesday, watching our next system. remember i said it's a one-two punch. here we go. our first system exists out of here. here comes that second one developing another coastal low. the same with this one. it will be weaker. its track goes farther off shore. what it will do is probably throw some snow at the coastline as well as the south coast. it is weaker though and we're also talking about just light snow from this maybe tuesday afternoon into early wednesday. then on thursday, we turn breezy. we could see a couple of flurries out there as an arctic front passes through. by next weekend temperatures drop into the 20's and overnight lows in the teens. antoinette and doug. doug: yep, still winter. danielle, thank you. when you think of a student council president, the first
