donald trump claiming victory. they expected the message to resonate. the second place finish could put a new spin on the race. good morning. i'm emily. >> i'm randy. it turned out to be amazing. >> it was incredible. a steady stream of people throughout the day. >> fortunately the weather was decent. it was. we were concerned. today may be a little bit different. we're starting out with cold temperatures. single digits north and west around bedford. 20 in wooster. 25 in boston. beverly at 12. 19 in plymouth. there are some 20's this morning. pretty quiet overnight. we have some holes in the clouds. look to the south. there are snow showers. additional snow showers. there was a lot of energy that's going to be working through over the course of the day. during the morning commute i think the bulk of the activity

the state. look what happens by lunchtime. snow showers are breaking out. especially north and west of the city of boston. as we go in to the afternoon, additional snow showers will be scattered about. not everyone sees them. where we get in on some of the snow showers, there's the potential for a quick coating to maybe up to an inch of snow which isn't a lot. it is enough to make the roads slippery. keep in mind the potential as we go throughout the day. also notice the temperatures coming up to right around freezing by late morning. we should be in the mid 30's through the afternoon. if that snow comes down hard enough, it can make the roads slippery. let's take you out to the roads. they are dry. >> good morning. yes, they are. we are following one problem this morning. first a live look outside. let's get in the maps now. here's what's going on as you are traveling south. an accident shutting down route 28. this if you are heading in that direction, watch

a live report in a few minutes. north of town no major concerns. there's an early morning spin out. they were just saying we might still find some slick spots. we've got one. be careful and give yourself a couple of extra minutes. >> thank you. we're following two breaking stories. >> police in quincy are on the scene of a deadly crash. what we know right now. >> it was just after we saw the car drive by us. it is being towed away. let's get to the video tape. you can see horrible remains of a mercedes benz that was involved in the crash last night. we're talking about about the section between route 93. two people have died. a third person was taken to a boston hospital and being treated. we do not know the condition of that person. we also don't know what caused the crash. tremendous wreckage here. the roadway should re-open we're talking about about in a

they are just cleaning up. the car was just towed away. route 28 should be re-open in time for most people to head in to work this morning. live in quincy. >> thank you, kelley. breaking overnight a deadly fire under investigation right now in the city of pittsburgh. this was a very tough battle for the firefighters there. >> let's get right to the eye openers. we are on this scene this morning. >> emily, this was a difficult fire fight. the firefighters were able to rescue two people out of the two-story home here we do know that a third person died in the fire. here's a look at the video from overnight. the flames were shooting in to the air along with smoke billowing from the home when the firefighters got here around 1:00 this morning. once again one person is confirmed dead in the fire. firefighters and other rescuers did find two people.

firefighters had to perform cpr on the other victims. both of those people local hospitals. there was no one else in the home when the flames tore through. we're still waiting to find out what the cause of the fire was. once again two people were taken to the hospital because of the injuries from the fire. to south carolina and these two candidates are headed out of new hampshire with big wins under their belt. there are some other numbers that might be more important to the race. >> the eye openers are in manchester with what is next. doug? >> emily and randy good morning. the focus here this morning shifts from new hampshire to the next stops along the campaign trail. and if you look at the numbers, it is clear. donald trump was the big winner here. just as important, the man who

hillary clinton not getting any ground. >> now we take the campaign to the entire country. we're going to fight for every vote in every state. we're going to fight for real solutions that make a real difference in people's lives. >> she may face a tough fight. sanders got the majority of votes from men and women emily? >> thank you. this morning we're waiting for final numbers. hampshire was high. traffic gridlock outside of polling places. some waited in their cars for over an hour trying to get to the high school to cast their ballots. the moderator extended the closing time past 7:00 to give people a chance to vote. this morning the election rolls on. the next state to watch is nevada and south carolina. the nevada democrats caucus on february 20th. that's the same day as the south carolina republican primary.

for the nevada republicans and february 27th. then it is on to super tuesday. march 1st, 13 states, including massachusetts, vote that day. it is often the last stop for all by the top-tier candidates. >> passengers on a cross-country flight from boston are at their destination after a disruptive passenger forced the plane off track. that's right. flight from boston to south carolina diverted late last night to denver after the teams combated. we have some video here in the overnight hours as the man who was allegedly drunk was escorted off of the flight. the airline is calling it customer service issue. they claim to be disruptive and verbally abusive. other passengers say he made a threat and that's when the captain decided to land at the nearest airport as a precaution to delay about 45 minutes. passengers landed in san diego

spill down in our direction. first in stages. it gets colder by friday. then saturday night the coldest air so far spills on in. we're talking about highs in the teens this weekend. by sunday morning, low temperatures are going to be below zero. wind chills likely going to be in the 20's below zero. this is fleeterring with record cold. the record in boston on sunday is two below zero. it is seven below in wooster. near the record low temperatures. keep in mind the average low could be in the 20's. that's morning. 20 in wooster and 25 in boston. a lot of teens in the suburbs. 12 in beverly. plymouth sitting at 19 degrees. the temperatures do come up this morning. by late morning we're going to be near the freezing mark. the mid 30's this afternoon as it could get closer to 30. we're going to be watching for hit or miss snow showers. if you see in the radar, it is

as you travel north of town, all trains and buses are on schedule. >> the search for a victim is getting ready to resume in new hampshire. police say the man fell through the ice in pequawket pond. firefighters were unable to find his body. they say no one could have survived the freezing temperatures for this long. the sergeant that was nearly killed in the boston bombing says he is retiring. he is recovering but he is not 100%. that's he and his decision to step down from the job that he loves. he says he's not bitter about the shootout that changed his life. >> i'd like to think i look better than i did in april of 2013. i've definitely come a long way. i'm not 100%.

on the street or working patrol. >> he's had years of rehabilitation. he's now teaching criminal justice classes. he and his wife are expecting a second son this spring. >> your economy headlines this wednesday. asian stocks slid for the third day in a row. right now u.s. stocks are higher after another down day on tuesday. wall street will be watching for testimony in the federal reserve underway today. another public hearing set for today on the raising fares on the mbta. tonight's hearing will be held in roxbury. another held in weymouth tomorrow night. a decision is expected following that meeting. it would take effect in july. mbta officials will meet to privatetize agency departments. it would maintain and count taxpayers and run marketing and retail operations.

the officials say the services would improve the system. no formal proposals have been discussed with the specific company. >> boston city council may be backing off a plan to exempt elderly residents from shoveling the sidewalks. it would have enlisted attorneys -- teenagers to help. they wonder if there would be enough to handle the sidewalk. in cambridge, high schoolers did shovel the senior sidewalks for a fee. comfort dogs, but a veterans home in utah has something else. >> the unusual animals up ahead. >> new at 5:30, the supreme court blocks a plan meant to protect the environment. and on the attack, a store clerk when a man tries to rob him.

landing just before 11:00. no word on whether that passenger is going to face charges. emily: law enforcement officials from colorado will be in massachusetts to discuss recreational marijuana. they will meet with narcotics enforcement about legalizing the drug here. last month a group of state senators traveled to learn more about the benefit and the risks. >> more than two months after the mass shooting, investigators are still struggling to unlock one of the shooters phones. the suspects cell phones are the main focus of the investigation which could shed light on their preparation and motive and link to other terrorists. the fbi director said yesterday the phone's encryption is blocking their efforts. the setback on the president's efforts to combat climate change. the supreme court put a temporary block on the plan to limit the greenhouse gas emissions. that would require
