as you make your way into town we're watching one disabled car. this is the ramp from everett avenue as you travel on the tobin bridge there southbound so keep that in mind. that is really the only thing that is going on right now. it's not bad at all. south of town you're looking at 24, 95 route 3 the expressway 10-15 braintree to boston. same on the pike. 15 minutes 495 to 128. 93 south looks good out of methuen all the way down to the leverett connector. trains and buses also running on schedule. randy. randy: thank you. breaking overnight. raging flames tear through an apartment building in worcester. just look at the dramatic video from the scene. and this was a brutal battle for firefighters. emily: the eyeopener's frank holland is live at the scene on preston street. frank: this three-alarm fiery rupted here at this triple decker here on preston street behind me. crews leaving the scene a short time ago. we have cell phone video of this raging fire from earlier. you can see flames bursting from the roof and the windows. one man was inside the building at the time of this fire.

firefighters say the sub zero temperatures made fighting this a real challenge. the deputy chiefs tell telling us the hydrants were not frozen but the lines and ladders were. >> basically all of our equipment is frozen. the pipes are frozen. the ladder pipes are frozen. it was just a difficult time getting some water on it. frank: this is the third fire in the city overnight. firefighters also battled a pair of two alarm fires. all these fires remain under investigation. live here in worcester, frank holland, wcvb, newscenter 5. is under investigation in fall this was the scene on eastern avenue last night. third floor of a multi-family building. and struggled with the frigid temperatures and frozen equipment. the identity of the victim has not been released. right now three fires in one town are under investigation. those battles making for a really rough night for weymouth firefighters. in fact, they say they've never

once before. it started with flames ripping through a home on arnold street. a short time later two other fire calls hit the department. investigators say in at least two of the cases people were trying to stay warm and thaw frozen pipes. >> fuel from a wood fire stove that was left next to the house. again getting rid of embers from your fireplace is very important using a metal can. emily: at least a dozen nearby fire departments were called in to help. no one was hurt. >> just come back, buddy. just come back, please. randy: a father's plea after his son disappears. right now boston police are asking for your help in tracking him down. the eyeopener's doug meehan is live in boston, with the last place he was seen. doug? doug: right here at the bell and hand tavern. his family says the harvard man disappeared after a night out with family.

fires extremely difficult. the cause of all three of these fires under investigation. frank holland, wcvb, newscenter 5. randy: one man is dead after a fire in fall river. the man was found on the top floor of this three-unit building on eastern avenue last night. firefighters say the cold weather made their response more challenging. one firefighter suffered minor injuries after slipping. the cause of that now under investigation. three fires in the same town are under investigation. it started with flames ripping through a home on arnold street in weymouth before two other calls came into the department. investigators say in at least trying to stay warm and thaw pipes. no one was hurt. for a missing man from the town of harvard continues. he was last seen here at the bell in hand early saturday morning, and now his family is really starting to worry.

sleep. randy: former boston mayor ray flynn is resting at his south boston home following surgery after a crash. doctors implanted a defibrillator after flynn passed out and crashed into his neighbor's home last week. according to a family spokesman, doctors believe flynn may have suffered a condition known as "aborted sudden cardiac arrest." emily: republican presidential candidates set their sights on south carolina, ahead of the primary there. donald trump, ted cruz, marco rubio, ben carson, and jeb bush, joined by brother george w. bush, will hold events today. john kasich will campaign in michigan. meantime, democrat hillary clinton will hold three events in nevada ahead of the caucuses there next weekend. rival bernie sanders will campaign in michigan after an event in nevada yesterday. randy: senator john mccain is looking to subpoena the 10 u.s. sailors held captive for one night in iran. the republican senator says the sailors should testify about their brief detention if the

provide any findings by march 1. the sailors were held on january 12 after two patrol boats strayed into iranian waters. they later blamed a navigational problem. emily: a startling report from the united nations. the number of civilian injuries in afghanistan's long war with the taliban rose last year-- the highest number since 2009. more than 3,500 civilians were killed and another 7,000 injured. the report found most of the dead or injured were caught in crossfire. randy: pope francis continues his historic trip to mexico. he will celebrate the country's indigenous population today, presiding over a mass in three native languages. yesterday, the pope held an outdoor mass in one of the most dangerous suburbs of mexico city. the pope has been speaking out against the drug trade during his five-day trip. emily: snowy weather in indiana is being blamed for a series of pile-ups sunday afternoon. fifty cars were involved in the crashes on interstate 65 about 30 miles northwest of indianapolis.

and sections of the highway had to be shut down so the road could be cleared. randy: the governor of michigan is looking for more medicaid coverage for people in flint amid a devastating water crisis. governor rick snyder is asking the federal government to expand the benefit to cover people under 21 and pregnant women. snyder says about 15,000 flint residents would benefit. tomorrow, the u.s. surgeon general plans to visit the city. emily: police in san francisco are investigating after two people were hit by blow darts while walking across the golden gate bridge. one man who'd been hit in the leg flagged down a highway patrol officer. a five-inch-long dart stuck in his leg. and as emergency workers were talking to that man, a woman approached and said she'd been hit in the knee. they're both going to be okay. randy: four people are in custody after a billion dollar drug bust in australia. police say the methylamphetamine was discovered in important boxes of silicon bra inserts and art supplies. it's the country's largest bust ever of the drug in liquid form.
