erika: good afternoon i' m erika tarantal. here are the stories happening right now. the family of a harvard man is -- firefighters in worcester responding to extreme close -- extreme cold. three people were forced out of their home. the family of a harvard man is pleading for his safe return after he went missing from outside a popular boston bar over the weekend. 22-year-old zachary marr hasn' t been seen since early saturday morning. and in peabody several patients had to be moved from kindred

parts of the facility flooded when the bitter cold led to boiler problems and pipes burst. with the challenges there. doug. doug: conjured hospital is open. patients. is causing some havoc here. peabody fire department a call for leaking pipes. when they arrive inside they found 10 to 12 pipes that were leaking, sending flooding water everywhere. in a written statement from the hospital, they say because of the cold weather they were experiencing boiler issues. that caused the pipes to burst transported to other local hospitals. >> approximately 7:00 in the morning they had a freeze up. they had leaks in multiple areas. once we address the

live in worcester where firefighters responded to three different fires. frank: a long frigid night for worcester firefighters. three homes in three different neighborhoods on fire, the last one to be put out, here, where flames exploded from the top floors. >> it was like a bonfire from hell. frank: flames bursting from the preston street. this triple decker. >> the flames were catastrophic. frank: 3 people who lived here lost their home. this was one of three fires in worcester overnight. the first starting here on pineland street around 6 on sunday night. edward ford was getting his pipes fixed, when suddenly the 2 alarm fire sparked. >> smoke came out of the thermostat, then i got out. the second fire here on henry street. 5 people lost their home in a 2 alarm fire that broke out around

for more than 12 hours, worcester fire battling flames. two major factors, fatigue and the sub zero conditions. >> we had a lot of difficulty with frozen apparatus, equipment issues. frank: the severe cold also lead to 3 worcester ffs suffering slip and falls all were treated for minor , injuries at the scene. this triple decker is set to be demolished today. the cause of all 3 fires remains under investigation. officials say none appear suspicious. live in worcester frank holland wcvb nc5. erika: right now a deadly fire is under investigation in fall river. this was the scene on eastern avenue last night. the body of a man found on the third floor of a multi-family building. firefighters battled the flames and struggled with the frigid temperatures and frozen equipment. the name of the victim has not been released.

are under investigation. those battles making for a really rough night for firefighters. in fact, they say they' ve never had to fight that many fires at once before. it started with flames ripping through a home on arnold street. a short time later two other fire calls hit the department. investigators say, in at least two of the cases people were trying to stay warm and thaw frozen pipes. >> fuel from a woodfired stove to the house. getting rid of embers is important. erika: at least a dozen nearby fire departments were called in to help. no one was hurt. a wake will be held today in winchester, for the teacher killed when a manhole cover smashed into her car. caitlin clavette was a beloved art teacher in milton. she was killed friday on 93 south while driving to work. funeral services are tomorrow. >> just come back, buddy. just come back, please. erika: a father' s plea, after his son disappears. right now, boston police are asking for the public' s help in tracking him down. the harvard man disappeared

s bell in hand tavern. 22-year-old zachary marr was last seen just before 2 saturday morning near the popular bar. he stepped outside to make a call, then messaged his cousins, saying he couldn' t get back in. when the bar emptied, he was nowhere to be found. >> it is not often he is able to go into the city and have fun with his cousins. they were celebrating his birthday. erika: marr' s dad says the of character. he says he just wants his son to return home, no questions asked. a man is under arrest. ,charged with assaulting a medical worker and threatening to blow up brockton hospital. the 21-year-old claims to be a saudi national. police say he was at the hospital because he was hurt in an earlier fight. they also say he was drunk and demanded to talk to the saudi consulate. resting at his south boston he had surgery to implant a flynn underwent the operation after crashing his car into a neighbor'

according to a family spokesman, doctors believe flynn may have suffered a condition known as aborted sudden cardiac arrest before the crash. that irregular heart rhythm may have caused him to pass out behind the wheel. another sign that the mbta is cancelling late-night service. union officials tell the boston globe late-night shifts were left out of the spring schedule pick for subway drivers. but the t has not announced the official cancellation of the service. a control board member claims eliminating the shifts, which starts march 19, was a matter of practicality. the proposal comes to a vote february 29. dozens of people have quite the scary story to tell after getting stuck on a tramway in the bitter cold. the breakdown had skiers, snowboarders and sightseers hampshire' s cannon mountain. tramway to a screeching halt sunday afternoon less than 100 feet from the terminals. 48 people were on board including a family with an

airstrikes today, right along the turkish border. right now, at least 7 people are dead, dozens are wounded and 8 no word yet on who is responsible for the strikes. erika: senator john mccain is looking to subpoena the 10 u.s. sailors, held captive for one night in iran. mccain says the sailors should testify about their brief detention if the obama administration cannot provide any findings by march first. the sailors were held on january 12, after two patrol boats strayed into iranian waters. they blamed a navigational problem. the coast guard will be holding a public hearing on the loss of the el faro this week. the first session of the public marine board investigation will focus on the condition of the ship before it sank in hurricane joaquin. this is separate from the ntsb investigation. three people with massachusetts ties were among the 33 who died when the ship sank in october. supreme court justice antonin scalia is expected to lie in state at the supreme court. the 79-year-old conservative

increasing cloud cover with clear blue skies. another morning below zero for many areas. we snuck up to 17. winds are under 10 miles per hour and that is where we stay afternoon. yesterday. was 16 below zero. 15 in the current temperature. we are going to see them take up into the 20' s. notice we are introducing a little bit of snow. from south to north we are creeping on in the area. then between 4:00 and 8:00 this evening, it will move in and hit those road services. i think the road is going to get the snow cover slippery.

stubborn cold may linger from southern new hampshire to northern worcester county. freezing rain is a bit of a concern out before we push things out tomorrow morning. highest amount when you get north and west of 128. starting out in the 20' s to around 30 degrees, we are jumping up into the 40' s and heading to the 50' s tomorrow afternoon. strong southerly wind' s going to develop out of this boundary. when that band of heavier rain comes through there are some at -- there is the possibility of heavier wind gusts. we have the warm temperatures coming in.

survivors and victims families are preparing to mark 13 years since the station nightclub fire in rhode island. the campaign for a planned memorial to the 100 victims has now raised $1.6 million. it should be completed by october. the fire was sparked by pyrotechnics for the band great white which ignited foam soundproofing in the nightclub. battling back from a devastating injury. the hockey player hurt during the women' s winter classic shows her true strength. teammates on the boston pride, calling denna laing an inspiration on and off the ice. they took the regular season title yesterday afternoon in brighton, with number 24 in the crowd. laing surprised teammates in the locker room before the game. she' s facing an uphill battle after a severe spinal injury on new year' s eve. but perseverance is something this disciplined athlete is familiar with.

erika: love is in the air. way up in the air. cindy: weddings with a spectacular view were held at the top of new york' s empire state building on valentine' s day. in some couples tied the knot others just renewed their vows. they won the right to take part by telling the most touching love stories. erika: two big stars have been added to the next star wars movie which just started filming. episode 8 will feature benicio del toro, laura dern and newcomer, kelly marie tran. she was in the previous film. a brief video released by lucasfilm shows the story could pick up right where the box-office smash.the force awakens left off. episode 8 is set to be released
