, democratic caucuses in nevada show hillary clinton edging out rivabernie sande for the win. this is a live look from nevada -- where clinton is set to make her victory speech any moment now. this was a critical victory after her tough loss in new hampshire. voting is still underway in the republican primary in south carolina. reid: right now, we' re learning new details about an early morning fire in natick that took a deadly turn. fire investigators say there is evidence tonight that smoke detectors were not working in this home. good evening, i' m reid lamberty. pam: and i' m pam cross. tonight, newscenter 5' s sera congi has the big challenges for firefighters who tried to save the victim. sera: firefighters rushed to this east central street house in natick around 7:30 this morning, a smoky blaze first spotted and reported by a fire lieutenant on his way to work. >> we came outside and we seen, some smoke coming out the roof down the block. >> there was a lot of smoke, we didn' t see a lot of flames, but the fire department reacted

sera: while battling flames firefighters searched the home and found a woman unconsicious in a second-floor bedroom. the challenge firefighters faced when trying to reach the victim, a hole in the floor of the bedroom. >> we were able to get around that hole, found the victim close to the second floor window. sera: crews carried the woman out with a ladder. but she died shortly after at the hospital. 73-year-old carol mccarthy lived alone. >> it' s horrible whether it' s elderly or young, it' s somebody' s relative. sera: investigators are working on a cause, the fire marshall' s office says there' s evidence smoke alarms were not working. the state' s fire marshall' s office says this is the 12th fatal fire this year, and the common thread they' re seeing, a lack of working smoke alarms. in natick, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. pam: one of two people killed in a fire in groton last month has been identified. 66-year-old douglas palmisano died january 28 when a fire broke out at his home on whiley road.

identity has yet to be released. still no word on what caused the fire. massive flames erupting this morning at a mill in fall river. the fire so intense the building collapsed. the sagamore mill was vacant. no one was hurt. firefighters are investigating whether the fire is suspicious. reid: right now, a child is recovering after being hit by a car in taunton. police say the child was hit on paul bunker drive earlier today. the child suffered non-life threatening injuries. police say it appears to be an accident. the driver did remain on scene. week. temperatures climbing near 60 boston. -- enjoying this beautiful weather. mike: we have a 48 degree and weather. last week.

was nine below zero. today we hit 60. it was even more dramatic out towards worcester. today topping off at 55. we' ve got a very weak front trying to work its way across the area. if you look at the ground, it is falling its way through and drying before it hits the ground. overnight tonight, temperatures will drop off into the 30' s and 40' s. just a sprinkle this evening. lowe' s barely getting below 40 degrees. tomorrow we warm back up again. late in the day we see clouds coming in, and perhaps as we talk about late tomorrow night, we have to talk about moisture moving in. it' s going to slide its way underneath and as it does so -- this is the way the map looks. overnight there could be light

reporter: people came together saturday to remember the boy with the million dollar smile, their friend cj thompson. the 12-year-old passed away last leak after falling through an ic pond -- icy pond in early january. >> i knew that cj was special to us but i did not know he was special to the community. reporter: close to 200 people filled this center to share their memories. >> cj is like the noisemaker in the house and it' s going to be quiet without him. where can i miss him. reporter: organizers wanted to give cj' s classmates and neighbors a chance to talk about their feelings and what they will miss about their friend. reporter: cj' s mom did tell me it gives her some peace to know that cj is with her dad again. -- his dad again. julie mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5. reid: two new hampshire students are in jail, accused of stabbing another student near campus. matthew gibbons and eric denning are charged in the attack of the 20-year-old this morning. pam: an officer involved shooting happened just before 3:30 this morning. investigators say when they confronted the suspect, he pointed the gun at them for jumping into a car. the suspect crashed his car into a police cruiser and was shot several times. he is in critical condition tonight. both officers are expected to make a full recovery. today marks 13 years since 100

nightclub fire in west warwick, rhode island. fireworks being used by the band great white ignited flammable foam inside the club. organizers of the memorial site have raised 1.6 million of the $2 million goal. reid: the body of a man believed to have gone swimming of narragansett island has been found. the body has been sent to the medical examiner for positive medical examiner for positive identification. the coast guard had been searching for butler since thursday. lawrence police investigating this crash tonight. no one was seriously hurt after this car flipped on its top this afternoon on south union street. pam: thousands of people attending a funeral service for the conservative justice today. among them, dignitaries and his fellow justices. reid: abc news correspondent

pam: 60 today, that was the high? reporter: we ended the day 20 degrees above where we are supposed to be and within eight degrees of setting a record high temperature today. lest we can set record lows on saturday and sunday. it is still 50 degrees, wins southwest about 13 miles per hour. no windchill index to talk about. cold air over the top of us. it is mild out there right now. a few upper 50' s, but we are looking at some 40' s as you look down through the southeastern part of the state. the ocean temperature is cooler , and that is keeping things cooler if you' re over the cape today. a few sprinkles showing up out here. these are really light. a week wave of cool air tries to push its way across. i' m not really getting any

evening sprinkles in the forecast, and after we get through 8:00 tonight there will not be spread -- he will not spread after that. tomorrow, state your day with sunshine and it warms up nicely. clients coming in the afternoon and late tomorrow night there could be a light mix out there. there could be a little bit of snow, flakes mixing in with the rain. here is the way the map looks at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. we are still into the upper 40' s. by 10 :00 we start to see rain breaking out along the south coastal areas. those temperatures to warm to support anything but rain. this will skirt its way out to sea. then it moves on out of there. the temperatures don' t warm up on monday afternoon. the cold weather moving back in just in time for you to get back to work. tomorrow, 52 degrees.

monday, about 38 degrees for a high temperature. tuesday we talk about nice snow moving in. we have two systems we' re watching down in the south. these will come at us in two different forms. as this lifts northward, we initially start with a burst of snow. then this kind of fades away, and the second one becomes much stronger, but it moves inland. it drags this warm air in here. the rain looks like it will be heavy as we start to look at thursday' s forecast. check out the temperature. we are back up around 50 degrees. it' s going to be a very wet solution we are talking about. how much rain are we talking about here? look at the computer models. 1 inch to perhaps 2 inches of rain.
