a little period of rain coming on through. this storm is squeaking by us to the south. it's now moving away so we're in the process of drying out with high pressure building in from the north. it will draw down some of this colder air from canada. won't be a repeat of what we had over the weekend. we are starting out in the 20's and 30's. coldest spots here north and west of boston where we're below freezing once you get back towards keene and orange. closer to 40 now down toward the cape. temperatures will dip down a little bit with clearing skies this morning. by 8:00 a.m. we should be just hovering near the freezing mark. look at all the sunshine in the forecast today. temperatures coming back up to around that 40-degree mark here through the afternoon. not quite the 60's we had on saturday. let's get you out to the roads and see how we're looking out there. olessa: good morning, everyone. so far it's a quiet start. just a little bit of overnight construction right now if you're heading out the door. the pike looks good by allston/brighton. 93 southbound.

clearing shortly at the zakim. also as you travel the expressway north by mass avenue. no issues south of town on 128. there is construction on 24 however. northbound side approaching 128. you're good to go no trouble on the pike or route 9. your last project both directions of 128 by route 2. only the right lane is getting by for another 20 minutes or so. we're expecting the trains and the buses to start the morning on schedule. emily. emily: thank you. breaking overnight. a 16-year-old has died after he was stabbed in dorchester. it happened yesterday afternoon at columbia road and devon street. police responded to a call for a person shot but found the boy had been stabbed. he was taken to boston medical center where he died late sunday night. one person is in custody but no formal charges have been filed. randy: the man accused of setting off a shelter-in-place order last week at umass amherst will go before a judge today. police say 19-year-old william mckeown attacked a student inside a dorm on thursday night. witnesses reported seeing a gun,

alert. mckeown surrendered on friday. investigators are still searching for a second suspect. emily: an attleboro man is preparing to face a judge today, accused of running a meth lab out of his home. the bust happening during a well-being check. police arrested robert acheson sunday after a so-called "case worker" found him passed out in his apartment on knight avenue. firefighters say fumes from a chemical spill knocked him out. the street was shut down, and two other homes were evacuated as police removed evidence. randy: right now bill cosby's wife is preparing to face some tough questions in massachusetts. emily: that's despite some last-minute moves to stop this appearance. the eyeopener's frank holland is live in springfield with what we can expect today. frank: camille cosby is expected to answer questions under oath in the suit that accuses her husband of sexually assaulting seven women decades ago. something her lawyer fought hard to prevent from happening. all weekend, lawyers for the 71-year-old fought to try and postpone this deposition.

the alleged victims claim bill cosby defamed them by denying their sex assault allegations. but his wife's lawyers argue she has had no involvement in the facts or allegations involved in the case. writing in an emergency motion late saturday night, the public testimony would serve, quote, "no purpose other than to harass and embarrass her." the judge denied that motion ruling that the deposition will go forward at 9:30 this morning. we'll be here and bring you information as we get it. frank holland, wcvb, newscenter 5. we know learn new details about a man accused in a random shooting in just hours that suspect will face a judge for the first time. the eyeopener's erika tarantal is tracking developments including the link to a popular rideshare service.

driver and former insurance adjuster who police say had no criminal history. in fact, those who know 45-year-old jason dalton describe him as a family man, a father of two, who never showed outward signs of violence. police saying he was behind that hours-long rampage saturday that left six innocent people dead and two hurt. the victims apparently chosen completely at random, shot in three separate locations. now investigators are working to determine whether dalton during the rampage. one man says he rode with him before it all began. >> we were kind of driving through medians, driving through a lawn. finally once we came to a stop, i jumped out of the car and ran away. erika: dalton was arrested early officer driving out of a bar parking lot. a semi-automatic handgun was found in his car. emily: thank you. boston naacp leaders want the boston latin school headmaster fired. they say lynne monney teta did not do enough to protect

racially-charged incidents. the group held a five-hour meeting yesterday to review a new report that found the administration handled all incidents appropriately with the exception of a 2014 threat. one student called another a racial slur and referenced lynching. the superintendent plans to meet with the naacp. right now an elementary school in millis is shut down closed for the next two days because of air quality concerns. the superintendent alerted parents test results found concerns in two parts of the clyde brown elementary school building. a safety team will now meet with state officials to determine what happens next. randy: this morning dozens of people are facing charges accused in an underage drinking party that got out of control. the eye's kelley tuthill is live outside brockton district court where some of them will go before a judge today. snell randy, 41 people arrested in total. with that many involved, we're only expected to see a handful here in court this morning. the party took place overnight

emily: monday, monday. what a weekend. randy: was that so nice yesterday? cindy: it felt like april more than february. and something dramatic concerning the weekend prior. emily: it was so cold. cindy: what a change. this has been a odd month. we've been way up and way down. if you average it together, we're running a degree above average for the month as a whole. look at that temperature on saturday. we did touch 60 officially in boston. 53 out there yesterday. now we're actually starting out this morning in the upper 0's to around 40 degrees in boston all the way down to the cape. north and west of town notice it is a little closer to the freezing mark. we're at freezing in lawrence running just above in worcester. and there are some 20's showing up across northern worcester county. it's getting colder off to the north and west. notice the winds though. they're fairly light but they're blowing down from the north right now. when you look to the north, you can see what's waiting for us.

single digits here up through quebec. and across northern new england the temperatures are quite a bit colder. that's the air mass that will be draining down. a weak front dropping on in. as this storm here to our south pulls away, a lot of cloud cover for the entire area overnight. and there was a little touch of some rain around the south coast, the cape, the islands and also parts of the south shore, but this is now exiting so we are going to see here decreasing clouds and lots of sunshine in store for your monday. temperatures drop down a few more degrees this morning and then recover to right around 40 this afternoon with those winds out of the north only about 5-10 miles per hour. so it's a pretty nice looking monday overall. tonight we'll fall back into the teens and 20's under clear skies. light winds. it's going to be a colder night. and a cold, dry start on tuesday but this week gets very active. i'm watching one system here to the south tuesday morning. that will bring in our first round of kind of wintery weather and then the second round of storminess is going to come from this system right here. this is going to have a lot of moisture with it. it looks like it falls

let's break things down for you starting off tomorrow. we'll start the day with some sunshine. coming up to about 37 in the afternoon. but look what's happening here. we have clouds coming in off the ocean. and then thickening clouds late in the day. and by midnight i think we're looking at a burst of snow that will be changing on over to rain by wednesday morning. but out through areas north and west of boston, the merrimack valley, northern worcester county, we may hang on to some freezing rain for a while. so it could be a little bit slippery here for the wednesday morning commute with a little bit of icing there. but look what happens as that second storm approaches. it is going to drop a lot of warm air as it travels to our south. we'll get back into some heavier rain here wednesday night and into the first half of the day on thursday. we're talking about' some downpours here, the possibility of poor drainage flooding. one round coming wednesday night into thursday morning. and there will be some strong winds as well out of the south. could be gusts to about 50 miles per hour so a soaking wind-swept rain here as we head toward wednesday night into the first half of your thursday. look at the rainfall totals.

lowest level in more than seven years. a new lundberg survey finds a gallon of regular is now selling on average for $1.77. that's the lowest price since december 19, 2008, when it was roughly $1.66 per gallon. the survey finds prices may have bottomed out and could soon start to head back up. your economy headlines this monday. asian stocks were mostly higher overnight as investors keep an eye on meetings this week on the global economy. right now u.s. stock futures are higher. this week investors will be watching for new data on home sales. emily: your trending stories now. sports reporter and "dancing with the stars" host erin andrews heads to the courtroom today. andrews is suing a nashville hotel for negligence in a 2008 incident. she claims the marriott at vanderbilt university allowed another guest to rig peepholes to her room and film her changing.

yesterday morning. he is now in custody. emily: the cause of this raging fire in new hampshire is under investigation. flames destroyed the old abandoned building in goffstown yesterday. twelve towns responded to the three-alarm fire. there were several explosions inside. a neighboring restaurant was evacuated it suffered smoke damage. randy: this week prosecutors will ask a court to send a notorious murder suspect back to prison. michael skakel was convicted in the 1975 murder of his greenwich, connecticut, neighbor martha moxley in 2002. but he was set free in 2013 after a judge ordered a new trial saying his lawyer should have argued his brother could have been responsible for the crime. prosecutors want connecticut's highest court to reinstate his sentence. skakel is the nephew of ethel kennedy. two people are expected in court today in connection with the discovery of a gun in a baby's bassinet. boston police officers, executing a search warrant,

under a pink blanket saturday. they also found heroin and cocaine in the dorchester home. pedro valdez and lasonia gathers are facing gun and drug charges. emily: a judge will decide today if a lawsuit, stemming from the sandy hook school massacre, moves forward. lawyers for the company that made the rifle used to kill 20 students and six staff members are asking the judge to dismiss the suit. the parent company of bushmaster firearms says it's protected by a 2005 federal law that shields gun manufacturers from most lawsuits over criminal use of products. suing under an exception to the law. some of the victims of the san bernardino shooting are taking refusing to unlock the shooter's cellphone. those victims are expected to file a legal brief in support of the government's demand for apple to create a so-called "back-door" to hack its own devices. a lawyer for those victims tells reuters that they have a right to the information in the phone

were targeted. randy: pope francis is asking catholic leaders to place a one-year moratorium on the death penalty. during his sunday audience in st. peter's square, the pontiff proposed they suspend the practice during the holy year of mercy. that push for forgiveness runs through november. pope francis also appealed to all world leaders asking them to consider eliminating the death penalty. the boap believes there is always the possibility of redemption for offenders. emily: today, governor charlie baker will be at the white house. he and other governors will have a private meeting with the president this morning. he's in washington taking part in winter meetings of the national governor's association. today's meeting will be followed by a news conference. the federal government is ordering a cleanup of the charles river. new regulations this year will require the 260 communities that feed into the charles river watershed to help remove some of the phosphorous that washes into it every year. environmental advocates say it will help reduce flooding, droughts, and pollution.

you look at the satellite and radar this morning, a lot of clouds across the area. not snow but we did have rain overnight along the south coast, the cape and the islands but that is actually moving off shore right now as the system moves out to sea to our south. to the north we're watching high pressure nose out of canada. that is going to drawn down colder temperatures. although we were up near 60 this weekend, that is not happening today. the skies are going to brighten up. we end up right around 40 degrees this afternoon in boston. closer to 50 as you get down toward new york, philly and d.c. as you look across the country, there is storminess that we're watching especially this area down here coming out of texas. this is loaded with moisture. that's going to make a run at us. we have two pieces of energy we're watching this week. first one comes in tuesday night into wednesday morning. that may start as a little snow. and then change on over to some freezing rain or rain. the heavier batch will be this one here. this will work in as we head toward wednesday night and thursday. that is going to come in with a
