he was hit. right now the woman arrested in a wild chase is preparing to head to court. this morning police are still searching for her alleged partner in crime. police arrested jacqueline murphy yesterday after a stolen car chase led to a crash in saugus. the man with her, michael gouthro, took off. both were already wanted for attacking a revere police officer with a hypodermic needle on thursday, before leading police on a chase there. >> she was this big, beautiful woman, with a big, gold heart. emily: "5 investigates" uncovering a major break in a 22-year-old cold case. a mother found murdered in boston now has a name. this morning, we're hearing from that woman's daughter who has waited decades for answers. but there are still questions. milagros "millie" alvarado was last seen walking in fitchburg in june, 1994. her body found buried at the stony brook reservation in hyde park that august. in december, millie's daughter cynthia and her family gave

degrees. marshfield, taunton. otherwise upper 30's ought to do it for high temperatures today. here is the moisture. it's around washington d.c. this morning. but as it lifts north ward and bump into the colder air, that's going to be our snow for late today but that is only the first system i'm watching. there is another one. and this second one is going to produce a lot of severe weather down along the gulf coast today and for us, it can bring some thunderstorms by thursday morning. it is likely going to bring some real heavy downpours to the area so messy weather the next couple of days. let me step you through the timeline. first things first. the clouds are going to be increasing through lunchtime. as we get toward the evening hours, 5:00 this afternoon, notice the snow filling in across connecticut and rhode island. this will overspread the greater boston area through 8:00 this evening. and then make its way on up into new hampshire. by midnight we're already changing it over to rain along the immediate coastline especially south of boston. that changeover to rain is going to encompass most of the area by tomorrow morning at

randy: right now boston police are taking new steps to keep passengers safe in city cabs. the eyeopener's doug meehan is live in boston with the changes for those drivers. doug: hi, randy. police now want to fingerprint all cab drivers here in the city, and that process is already underway. fingerprinting started yesterday for boston's 6,000 cab drivers. police say this will allow them to conduct more thorough background checks. mayor marty walsh says the goal is to make sure riders are as safe as possible. mayor: i think, you know, we're not looking for people that might have a record and not be able to drive but people that might have serious records that are concerning to people. doug: the city's police commissioner is also calling for fingerprinting drivers of ride-share companies uber and lyft. legislation to require those changes is pending. we're live in boston, doug meehan, wcvb, newscenter 5.

employees at a dartmouth chipotle robbed at gunpoint. watch as they're forced into the freezer. right now police are trying to find the gunmen before they strike again. the two masked men were waiting outside by a back door sunday night when employees went to take the trash out. surveillance video then shows them forcing the workers back into a walk-in cooler. then one suspect forces another employee into an office, struggling with the manager. he was able to make a run for it and called 9-1-1 from across the street. >> if they're capable of doing it once, they're capable of doing it again. >> it's scary because a lot of people apply to jobs like this at our age. emily: those gunmen did make off with cash. after finding the cash drawer along route 6, police are certain they had a car waiting. randy: salem new hampshire's finance director is off the job and facing criminal charges this morning. jane savastano was arrested for shoplifting friday during her lunch break. police say she left the macy's

plain rain as well. but that freezing rain could linger into early tomorrow morning. let me step you through the timeline. here are the clouds filling in through noontime. the snow is filling in across connecticut. then it overspreads greater boston through 8:00 this evening and then it makes its way up into southern new hampshire through midnight. also notice at midnight we're changing it over to rain here. the south shore and the cape. that rain line is going on continue to lift north ward. by 5:00 tomorrow morning most of us are seeing just light rain but this area here from southern new hampshire into northern worcester county is freezing rain. that may linger into about noontime or so tomorrow. then there's going to be a little lull in the action. then we'll watch this second system its going to produce a lot of severe weather today, press toward us as we get toward wednesday night and early thursday. because this storm tracks to our west, it's going to stay and bring some warmer air on in so heavy downpours, thunder, could lead to poor drainage flooding. we could see wind gusts over 50 miles per hour here early in the day on thursday. look at those temperatures into the mid 50's here on thursday.

murphy yesterday after a stolen car chase led to a crash in saugus. the man with her, michael gouthro, took off. both were already wanted for attacking a revere police officer with a hypodermic needle on thursday before leading police on a chase there. emily: the state fire marshal is offering a $5,000 reward for information on this fire. it destroyed a mill in fall river on saturday morning. the building collapsing under massive flames. investigators say it was vacant and they are now searching for the cause. randy: right now firefighters in california are battling a massive blaze at a warehouse in rancho dominguez. the second alarm fire engulfed the building. dozens of firefighters trying to get the fire under control. the area has several large warehouses and industrial buildings. no one has been hurt. the cause is under investigation. emily: there's an unusual plan up for discussion today. the division of fisheries and of venomous timber rattlesnakes

the endangered snakes are indigenous to the state but have some residents are worried the snakes would escape the island. but one state official says it's unlikely because there's plenty of food and places to hibernate. randy: logan airport will soon offer nonstop service from boston to lisbon, portugal. the airline "tap portugal" will launch the daily flights starting on june 11. the company hopes to tap massachusetts' large portuguese community as well as provide a quicker route to southern europe. emily: new research finds sea levels are rising faster now than they have in nearly 3,000 years. scientists came to the conclusion after reconstructing the earth's sea levels over the last 2,800 years. nasa reports the ocean is currently rising at a rate more than double that between 1900 and 2000 when the sea level rose 5.5 inches. scientists say global warming is to blame. randy: a new report shows a dramatic increase in the number of mastectomies over the last decade.

upper 30's for high temperatures this afternoon. we've got a winter weather advisory that goes into effect starting at 4:00 this afternoon for a little burst of snow that comes in. and then it's going to change over to a wintery mix and eventually all rain overnight. not a lot of snow. about 1-3 inches outside of 128. but just enough to make things slippery. as we get toward 5:00 this evening, here comes the snow out of connecticut. it is filling in around greater boston through 8:00 this evening. snowing at a pretty good clip through about midnight. thereafter we're going to start to see the changeover. this pink area right here, southern new hampshire, northern worcester county, typical spots may hang on to cold enough temperatures that some freezing rain lingers into the first part of the day tomorrow. a little lull in the action and then late tomorrow into thursday , we get another batch of some heavier rain coming on in and that is going to come with some downpours mainly with poor drainage flooding and strong wind gusts over 50 miles per hour. that will send the temperatures into the 50's. mild changes coming up for thursday.
