maria: breaking news, deadly storms strike in the south. the damage and the danger right now. meteorologist: snow, icy mix, rain falling in our area. stronger winds eventually on the way. ed: new video, an accused drunk driver falling on his face. jorge: the man run down just moments before. maria: a home comes crashing down. the driver who made it happen. ed: a local military family's celebrity salute, their surprise gift from carrie underwood. ed: right now at 11:00: snow, sleet, rain. good evening. i am ed harvey. maria: hi, everybody. i am maria. that is busy weather week. stormteam 5's harvey leonard. what do you see, harvey. meteorologist: all right. precipitation on the light side. it is still in our area. depending on location, we have areas of snow, freezing rain. areas of rain. now, the snow is not amounted to that much in anyone given area

light and spotty. but north boston, rhode island picked up over an inch. framingham, were a an inch. ed in aic, a quarter inch. lexington, a tenth of an inch. the wait looks. not impressive. wet flakes to rain. no accumulation. then a coating to an inch or more off to the north and the west. this is all rain in southeastern mass. a little bit of a mix north and west of boston. still snowing. northern worcester county, northward, you can see here as well. but here, connecticut, that is borderline freezing rain with temperature around 32. i-95 east. mild. it will get milder no problem. 29 degrees. so we still have a winter weather advisory from 495 north and west to that morning commute tomorrow. with the temperature will hover around 32 and some untreated surfaces could still be slippery. now in terms of what is going to be happening. i want to show you a quick timeline. notice the mix right in our area.

skimming deis vos were at two attleboro locations. maria: a wayland police officer is nursing some pretty painful injuries tonight... after being dragged down a busy street by a car. police say sgt. jennifer ordway was talking to that driver at a construction detail. that's when, for some reason, the car moved forward and dragged ordway several feet. ordway was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the driver is william prewitt of concord. he faces several charges. owen jump offed before things went from bad to worryings. >> maybe a couple of seconds late, he the flames. >> i heard there have been problems with these. i never thought it would happen. >> well, everyone is ok. there is a lot of damage inside of that family home. nationwide, more than 40
