thanks for joining us. anchor: we' ve got rain in a votto spots. meteorologist: the problem is the temperatures are near freezing, and that rain could turn into glaze. that is a concern this morning but the precipitation is it that heavy. heads up -- it could be slippery. the snow we have had has been changing terrain, but this area of pink in northern worcester county flips over to sleet and freezing rain, with a few snowflakes on northward. the transition has begun. the temperatures -- in worcester, 31. manchester, the area you want to be careful of.

coastline, already 40' s through south. temperatures will take up, the highest readings later in the day, rising overnight into the 50' s. big changes are coming. the precipitation is on the lighter side through the morning hours, but through noontime, there will be areas of light rain and freezing rain outside for 95. as we get into the afternoon, heavier, steadier showers coming in. plan on some steadier rain late in the day. that will likely impact the commute. s see how the roads are shaping up. reporter: so far, so good. a live look outside. the expressway fairly quiet. the roads are wet, so you do want to be careful. get to the maps. not a whole lot of construction, boston. problem free on the pike.

north of town. route 3 looks good, route 1 is quiet. trains and buses start the morning on schedule. anchor: thank you. breaking overnight, a decisive win for donald trump, making it three in a row. anchor: the second spot getting just as much attention this morning. erika is following breaking developments. reporter: donald trump is moving onto super tuesday with yet another win, this time in nevada. overnight, he made it clear he is not slowing down. >> we weren' t expecting to win too much, and now we are winning, winning, winning the country. reporter: ted cruz and marco are still battling it out for second place, rubio jumping over cruz by two points overnight. in the final hours, cruz was more focused on trunk. >> the truth of the matter that doesn' t know what he would do. reporter: one more note on this

6 in 10 caucus-goers were angry with the way government is working, and trump got most of those votes. 13 states, including massachusetts, will cast their votes in less than a week. anchor: the democrats are spread out today. bernie sanders is headed for oklahoma, along with a stop in missouri. hillary clinton is in south carolina, the next stop on the voting map. her campaign will be opening another massachusetts office. anchor: right now, this driver is facing charges. you can see him falling flat on test. nikole asked the fun -- nicole estevan has the violent crash that started this. reporter: that' s right. police say it all started here, when he plowed into a man walking on the sidewalk while he was drunk and high on drugs. witnesses tell us the 51-year-old swerved into the breakdown lane in weymouth

that is when he hit a black man walking on the sidewalk. no, it was like literally a bomb going off. it was just explosive, the noise. all the dogs started barking. reporter: he debt has to be taken to the hospital after sobriety test. he is facing a slew of charges, including negligent operation. of the man he is accused of hitting is being treated for life-threatening injuries. he' s expected to be arraigned today, pending his own release from the hospital. anchor: thank you. new video in overnight of severe weather pounding the gulf coast, heavy rain and with the wind. right now, at least three people are dead and dozens more hospitalized. meteorologist: unbelievable. a really powerful storm system. the hardest hit areas appear to

neighbor . prosecutors will ask the state supreme court to reinstate his conviction, putting him back behind bars as he awaits his second trial. a wayland police officer dragged down a busy street. the sergeant was talking to a driver, and that is when, for some reason, the car moved forward and dragged her several feet. she was taken to the hospital with minor injuries; the driver faces several charges. anchor: right now, police in another town are putting out a warning after more skimmers are discovered at a gas station. we' re live with the information everyone needs to now. -- to know. reporter: it is becoming more and more common -- skimming devices on places where you use your credit card, designed to steal your information. in this case, it was an atm. in this case, police have these

here you see the temperatures. by 6:00, 40' s to the north and 50' s to the south. s s as the storm lifts to the west, brings in the downpours. wind watch for southeastern massachusetts. that' s certainly a concern. as we go through tonight, we see the heavy downpours. first thing, 6:00 a.m., hugging the coast line. by 9:00 tomorrow, we are drying it out. those temperatures start out in the mid-50' s, and fall to the upper 40' s by days end. a blustery, colder day on friday, but it doesn' t last. the weekend should be back around 50 degrees.

once you are inside of 495, it is plain old rainfall. the back edge is looking northward, so nothing really heavy -- just this area where the temperatures are hovering near the freezing mark. all sitting near that freezing mark, closer to the coast line at 39. 40 in plymouth. you get the idea. temperatures are steady this morning, then slowly start to tick up. overnight, we will soar through the 50' s, temperatures climbing while we' re sleeping tonight. the process through noon, use caution. precipitation will pick up. brain gets heavier and steadier through midafternoon and into the evening, so plan on that rain getting heavier late in the day. also plan on some downpours overnight and strong wind. can' t even rule out a rumble of thunder. we will hear that timeline just had. let'

anchor: police received a ping from her phone in connecticut, but there have been no clues since. anchor: police in recliner are issuing a community alert after a string of burglaries. investigators say that one attempted break-in followed a similar trend. in each case, the thief got into the homes through a rear door or window. he stole items including jewelry and small electronics. police say homeowners may want to keep outside lights on that night. a new hampshire man is behind bars after he prompted a swat response. he' s accused of breaking into a home while armed with a gun yesterday morning. the homeowner managed to escape and call for help. two hours later, swat officers entered the home and took him into custody. he is facing burglary and criminal threatening charges. anchor: a firefighter saves the day, even when he is not on tuesday. anchor: the way he used snow to save a mother and son. and a very small player with a

anchor: good morning. we are ready with your news to go. breaking news on the nevada caucuses. anchor: first, we want to check in with cindy and her forecast. meteorologist: kind of damp much of the day, but nice through tomorrow morning. the rain will come down hard, the wind is strong. it will get pretty wild . still dealing with a touch of the wintry side and on for 95 there could be freezing rain. you can see there is not a lot happening right now and what we have is light, but it is out there with temperatures near the freezing mark. closer to the coast line, boston

by days end, we will jump into the mid-50' s from the south shore down to the cave. we will finally creep up north and west of 495, but it is a slow process. there will be some light rain and drizzle but once again toward midafternoon, here comes that first batch of steadier, heavier rain persisting through the evening commute, but the heavy downpours should come in closer to midnight. this storm system will be lifting off the coast line and it throws up a lot of warm air. 11:00, look at this band of downpours -- it will cross into first thing tomorrow morning, when we could experience the thunder. strong wind could see gusts up to 50 or 60 miles per hour

it all happened here -- a busy road in weymouth, one man walking on the sidewalk, another hit him. the man was so drunk he couldn' t even stand. in the video, you can see the driver fall flat on his face. despite that, the 51-year-old was behind the wheel last night. witnesses say he swerved into the right lane on washington street when he hit a black pickup truck before hitting a man on the sidewalk. the man he hit is now in the hospital, fighting for his life. he is expected to be arraigned, pending his own release from the hospital. reporter: a warning from police as more skimmign devices are foundng. this time they were found inside an atm at cumberland farm; police are looking for the public' s help to track them down.
